The Falcon's Brother (1942)
sassiebrat 0 points 3 years ago.

George Sanders and Tom Conway were brothers in real-life.

The Gay Falcon (1941)
kingarco66 -2 points 4 years ago.

Lol! the name of this film has not dated well

sassiebrat 0 points 3 years ago*.

No, unfortunately! But, the problem is not with the movie! Many will not know or maybe understand! George Sanders’ name in this series is Gay Laurence, aka the Falcon.

Also, when George Sanders is not starring as the Falcon, Tom Conway is…George’s real-life brother!

The Hiding Place (1977)
Ditzygypsy 0 points 4 years ago.

I saw this in 1975, at a theatre in Vancouver that one of the large Alliance churches had rented out. I was 10. It horrified and scared me. I had seen TV shows like Starsky and Hutch etc. where people get punched and shot, but knowing this was real was what made this so terrifying. I didn’t realize she was in her 50s, probably about my age now, when she was at the prison camp. I am pretty sure I could not survive that. I like WWII movies now, because I know who lost, and I like that. I was a bit nervous to see this again after over 40 years (?!), but I’m glad I did. Thank you for uploading this.

If you like this movie, read the book; it is a great story and not too long (you should be able to finish it in a day or two at most). Corrie wrote it herself.

This is so much better than the American series! I fell in like with Ian Richardson after watching this entire series! His voice could melt butter. I am just sorry he is no longer with us so we could enjoy more of his talent! 5/5

Tucker Carlson Tonight (2016)
Jeshush 14 points 4 years ago.

Jump-started a vomit when I saw this horrible thing listed here. It is part of another virus we are all dying from: the stupid one. Cucker spews lies and venom everyday from the cesspit that is Fox Snooze. That said, this swastika monster is actually quite humorous in his spittoon vitriol. The trouble is, the über-dense are weakminded to believe it.

sassiebrat -3 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Jeshush…This says NOTHING but shows your own vitriol! “Cucker spews lies and venom” WHAT LIES??? WHAT VENOM??? “swastika monster” WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??? “spittoon vitriol” Huh??? Do you even KNOW what uber means???

Where Was God? (2014)
Euringer -1 points 4 years ago.

I’m confused because above it says “The magnitude of -devastation- measured over eight times greater than the atomic bomb that leveled Hiroshima.” while the article says the tornado had the power of an atomic bomb. The former statement -strongly- implies that damage was done in an attempt to sensationalize a tragedy.

sassiebrat -2 points 4 years ago.

The only real way to know much is to ask the person(s) who wrote it. Otherwise, we just don’t know.

In order for effective communication to take place, you have to define terms. Whatever “magnitude of destruction” does mean, it doesn’t mean number dead.

Where Was God? (2014)
onitsunami -1 points 4 years ago.

The death toll of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima was approximately 150,000. To suggest that the magnitude of devistation caused by this tornado was eight times greater is not only grossly inaccurate, it’s also extremely offensive. F!#ck these religious nuts! I hope their God comes and takes them all to Heaven so the rest of us can live here in peace.

I was about to start describing my nose to you then but swiftly realised that it might seem like I was grooming you and stopped myself just in time. This internet lark is fraught with dangers isn’t it? I could have got myself in real trouble then if I didn’t still just about have my wits about me.

sassiebrat 0 points 4 years ago*.

It’s only dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing! Like giving money to someone or your phone number or your address or playing into someone’s nonsense. If you cross a line, then that’s the end of that!

David Copperfield (2000)
glostarz999 -1 points 4 years ago*.

That’s the spirit, ha ha ha! I like you. You’ll go far, as my dear old dad would say. I just mentioned Lovecraft. Love his work but he was as a racist anti semite who believed in all of that bollox about people who have stronger, rounder noses being more intelligent. It’s a funny old world but I wouldn’t like to have to clean it. Even my own room is filthy. That’s what happens when you just stop caring any more,

sassiebrat -1 points 4 years ago.

Stronger, rounded noses, huh? I wonder what he would have thought about my dear old dad with the ski slope nose! Like Bob Hope’s! I learned a long time ago that what other people think is none of my business.

David Copperfield (2000)
glostarz999 -2 points 4 years ago*.

I don’t blame you. You do realise that by even replying to me you’re going to get an avalanche of down votes? That’s just the way that things are around here these days but thanks all the same.

sassiebrat 0 points 4 years ago*.

What others think means about as much to me as cement. It mostly means something to me if I walk on it! Plus, I realize that this is totally subjective. I love Dev Patel!

David Copperfield (2000)
glostarz999 -2 points 4 years ago*.

Better than the recent Ianucci version certainly. That bloke really showed his true colours in the last few years. I wouldn’t pee on him if he was on fire. Well, I probably would if I needed to obviously. Any port in a storm as they say but you know what I mean. I’d have to pee on him and then spend loads of time drying him out just so that I could set him ablaze again. That would take ages and I’d probably forget just what I was doing half way through and feel like a proper chump as I was just standing there with the lighter and the petrol afterwards. Again. I’ve tried to set fire to celebrities before and it never works. They just seem to be too oily but it’s a creepy H.P Lovecraft kind of oil that somehow isn’t even flammable. It’s uncanny.

sassiebrat 0 points 4 years ago.

Introducing ethnicity and race into the picture makes the prejudice and horrible treatment of David more understandable. But, David was White so makes the inhumanity more pronounced. I have not seen this version and don’t plan to after watching the trailer.

David Copperfield (2000)

I love the opening of this film (the first four minutes)…and then the ending! Hugh Dancy is a perfect David; I like Maggie Smith better as Aunt Betsey although I do like Sally Field. Anthony Andrews and Eileen Atkins are perfectly cast as the evil Murdstones as well as the rest of the supporting cast! I will say that this is my favorite version but I like them all. Catherine Cookson's The Glass Virgin (1995) S1 E1

Thought this was OK but didn’t feel any chemistry between Brendan Coyle and Emily Mortimer; I thought she was miscast. Lots going on between the two leads; how much can one person take in life? At least no one tried to sell her!

Cranford (2007) S1 E1

Much is happening in this first episode that sets the stage for what’s coming. Nice character development so that when something does happen you care about the character. And, through this development, feelings about any one character can and do change rather quickly.

The Making of Cranford (2007)

Cranford (2007)
sassiebrat 0 points 4 years ago*.

I love this series; it is beautiful, sad and happy, great cast all around. If you like costume dramas, you cannot get much better than than this. Set in a Cheshire village in 1842-43 when the trains were being built across the country and unwelcome change coming around every corner, intruding on the old, quiet country life. Purely delightful and, a tear jerker at times.

What did Watson actually do? What was his purpose? He was basically an errand boy, wasn’t he? I think he was the opposite of an “indispensable assistant.”

He wrote the stories about Holmes for The Strand! He was Holmes’ assistant and companion and doctor and caregiver. Holmes was very high strung and needed someone to help him.
