The first leg of Ade Adepitan's epic four-part journey around Africa takes him from Cape Verde, through Senegal and Ivory Coast to Nigeria. Cape Verde, a group of tiny volcanic islands in the Atlantic, is the westernmost country in Africa. On the bleak and beautiful island of Fogo, Ade visits a community living in the shadow of an active volcano. The last eruption left half the village buried in lava and Ade sees one family's living room which is now half full of black rock. |
