Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
~Dime~ 2 points yesterday.

Chris Hemsworth was the show stealer for sure in this film. He made it watchable. But as I said before. This isn’t really a Mad Max movie. This isn’t even close to as good as Fury Road was. Anya Taylor-Joy killed the film if you ask me.

I know everyone is praising Anya Taylor-Joy, but I am confused on why. I know people love her from The Menu which is what everyone keeps bringing up when talking about her … well honestly The Menu was an amazing movie for sure. But it was because of all of the other actors that made the movie so good. I found her to be a bit boring. She seemed so robotic, slow paced. Like she was high on shrooms the whole time kind of slow. And sadly, she wasn’t much better in this film. Least to me. If you enjoyed it, good on you. Just her acting is not my cup of tea. I think they needed to find someone closer to Charlize Theron. She looks nothing like her, acts nothing like her. Charlize is what made the character a hit in the first place.

This movie as a whole was … okay. Once again it was all the other actors that made the movie watchable for me. I know this isn’t going to be a popular opinion for a review, but it is how I feel about the movie. Please understand I am not telling you to not watch it. You might enjoy it.

Recently discovered that George Miller is a physician, holy sh*t… Trying to find one of his first films, (Violence in Cinema: Part 1 1971).
I love the entire Mad Max franchise, but as much as I love Joy, I love Theron more…
I enjoyed Furiosa very much ~ I think Hemsworth stole this one away from ATJ - completely. He not just a pretty face, anymore. Good on him… Fury Road is still in second place! Road Warrior will always be first…

I hope it will be good, I have doubts though..hopefully the story has some value, cgi alone does not a good movie make..

Comments not sounding so great but I like the series as I started with Road Warrior as a kid. I’ll rewatch Mad Max Fury Road from 2015 since we are saying Furiosa is a prequel to Fury Road. Maybe that’ll make Furiosa better as I wait for HD quality to give it a go. Watching Fury Road again was great because I caught a lot of things I didn’t remember so maybe Furiosa will unravel some of it even more.

Another great move with Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling. I swear it seems like these two can’t miss right now with films. This was funny as hell. Plenty of action. Just all around a fun watch, fun from beginning to end!

Everything this country does is self-serving, despite all our assertions that we do stuff out of the goodness of our hearts. Most Americans probably actually believe that, but the rest of the world see us more clearly, even if they are hesitant to tell us so to our faces. Think “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.

mkmikas 1 points yesterday*.

agreed.. the classic master slave dialectic.. ooh i just learned that creel was with wilson in france and somehow contributed to the 14 points, makes sense.. according to wikipedia there was a 16 person group contingent from the CPI including barnays and were part of a ‘publicity group’.. and barnays caused a scandal by mentioning the word propaganda in print in a positive sense. heres some irony.. apparently churchill advocated using mustard gas to quash kurdish uprising in iraq, then british mesopotamia/ kurdish state around 1919/1920. despite promising them land! then bombed them 1923.. maybe irony isnt the right word also.. not sure entirely of the complex history there..

It highlights the problem with how the broadcast networks judge the viability of shows. They want instant gratification, high numbers on the day a show drops. This one had a “live” ranking of .8 that increased to a 1.6 by the +7 day mark for the 1st episode. Those were pretty good numbers, but by the end of the season it was getting a .3 “live” ranking and even though that number increased to a 1.0 in the +7 day period, that’s not what the networks are looking for. They want the big numbers for the “live” drops so they can demand higher advertising revenues.

Felt less revisionist than just a fluff piece to me, but that’s kind of to be expected given there are only 2 episodes, and it was produced by that hard-hitting mainstay of American morning shows, Robin Roberts. That she has won the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism is just a bad joke.

Hence why I said I have to disagree. Kids might like this film for a minute or two. That’s what you said. I am telling you that isn’t the case. And just because you don’t like the film doesn’t mean others will not like it either. It’s a good family movie.

hellsingfan01 0 points yesterday.

True others might like it but it’s also bombing hard at the box office which means that people just don’t like this movie but if you like it then great all the more power to you.

I quite enjoyed this series. The last season was a bit campy, strayed away from what I loved about the first couple of seasons but was still good. But over all was very enjoyable. I had never heard of it when it fist came out, up until 3 weeks ago when I started watching it. So if you are like me and know nothing about it. Give it a watch, you won’t be bored. I promise you that much.

Did like Battlefield Earth? I just watched all of EFC and I have to say it’s by far my least favorite Roddenberry show. Possibly my least favorite sci-fi show ever which is saying a lot. They tried something different but the really awful props, over stylized scenery and bad CGI cannot help the weak storylines and bad acting.

It must have taken hours to get her hair to look like she just fell out of bed, & into a bush.
I found it bit a bit childish, & I am so sick of CGI making mechanical things seem human in traits & movements. Why would you do that! Someone earlier gave it a good name:- Fluff.

Many consider the American Civil War to be one of the worst in history. New technologies made it easier to kill and maim more efficiently from greater distances, while combat strategies had yet to be modified to account for these changes. Germ theory was almost unknown, with many soldiers dying from disease and infection. Although morphine had been invented by then, the syringe was a new invention that wasn’t widely available yet. All wars are horrible, but the Civil War was a particularly gruesome and deadly event.

I regard this as the worse war for soldiers. If you were critically injured there was no medical intervention, no blood plasma, no penicillin. The suffering is unimaginable for those that fought this war

Cheesy Terminator wanna-be with JLo. Okay for a one time watch, mainly because the CGI is so obvious and annoying; not to mention JLo’s hair and make-up. “You’re So Vain” comes to mind and should’ve been included in the soundtrack. Thank you for the links!

Mad cheesy. You know… if they would invest like .000001% of their production cost, on a starving post-grad writer, or two, they might actually manage an original thought, or three.
