How is ethnicity in any way relevant? Never mind. That’s my cue to disengage.

It was quite literally what this entire conversation was about not in a bad way just saying how it was weird that they suddenly do it when there was no president set for it happen in the first place.

Not for changing the characters ethnic orientation there isn’t.

I’ve rescued, and released, many animals in my lifetime. They suffer MORE than we do. As humans, we are responsible for the decimation of biodiversity. The answer is not more beautiful docs or people rescuing animals and NOT allowing them to rewild.

random000 2 points 3 days ago*.

Same. No animal is “bouncing back”. Humans are the greatest threat to every living thing, including ourselves. We’re at best a cancer to this planet & false ideologies have given invalid license to weak minds to commit atrocities. Schweitzer’s thoughts on this have done much to shine the light on this criminal darkness so that it cannot find shelter in claims of dominion any longer.

You can be a fan of something and not be a fanatic as all you’d have to is have legitimate issues with whatever that your a fan off.

Actually, the reboot in 2005 set the precedent. Technically, this would be what, season 40?

Watching this on another site because I couldn’t find a way to make subtitles work. You’ll need them, because he speaks in a lot of different languages, so to really follow it, you have to have the subs. It reminds me of a detective show from the 60s, called Peter Gunn. I like it so far and will keep watching it.

The latest foray into stating [falsely] that the big cat populations are increasing is a fairy tale. If anyone cares to do research, they will see that man is encroaching, poaching, and legally hunting all big cat species to extinction. We need to curb our enthusiasm for expansion and domination… lest we do not survive — but that’s already set in motion. A beautiful experience to look at, as you stated, Random.

Molly and no, it’s not that. It’s actually wonderful and horrific simultaneously. As a naturalist, the rescue was outstanding, the rest was abusive to the natural world.

Whatever. The otter wasn’t captive. lol

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)
ThinMan -3 points 4 days ago.

What started off well, digresses the minute Eiza González appears… then it goes down hill FAST. Unfunny, and completely unrealistic, this is the American remake of Sisu, whhich was deficient in its own ways, but this is worse! Passable, but yawnable, amusement. Thanks for the links! We would never have rented this…

SoakedWeasel 2 points 4 days ago.

I thought you were commenting on a different film, as what you wrote makes so little sense.
Yes, the true story of an actual raid. A raid that did really take place and pretty much saved Europe, is unrealistic… Sisu is fiction. It is a British film by the way, with some American backing.
Also, you should probably look up what digress means. Think you’ll be surprised.

Darkness of Man (2024)
SheWatches 1 points 4 days ago.

It’s like an old gum shoe detective show at the beginning. I don’t like the filming companies. Jean Claude is still a beefy catch at his age (speaking from a mature woman’s perspective). The writer sucks. The premise and actors were good, but they got stuck with a script that didn’t do them justice. JCVD still has great action moves. Some unexpected laughs. This movie is going to do very well outside of the US market.

For me, the wife was also a big part of what made this special. The way she supported his passion for Molly and even protected him from knowing he wasn’t Molly’s whole universe. In so many ways, this reminded me of a father-daughter relationship.

It’s better because it respects nature, rather than asking a wild species to fill our [human] void. Isn’t that the issue? With Orcas in captivity and all other species being “tamed”? We are not their gods, we can help; then let go. He should have gotten a wild-life biologist in to help him; or ask for help. Building that Otter house was absurd.

Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story (2024)
ThinMan 0 points 4 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Beautiful, but ultimately tragic in that man without any training that doesn’t encourage the rewilding of a species is dooming them. My Octopus Teacher is superiour only because a wildlife photograper and naturalist documented it and it demonstrates respect to the wild kingdom that we only witness. This is highly recommended, however, with a bit a caution. It’s not about saving an animal; it becomes highly invasive and indulgent.

Awful, contrived, horrid animation/CGI/animatrononics… plus the story is just BLAND. Ceasar’s Symbol of freedom/love/unification is NEVER touched upon or explained, leaving the story a void.

5/5 for me - It’s been a long time since there was such a good war action movie. I didn’t know it was going to be so good. I’m absolutely going to watch this one again. To find out this is based on real people and I had no idea that Ian Fleming based his character, James Bond, on an actual person.

Disney didn’t buy the show. BBC still owns it. Disney only has distribution rights. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, I’m not pro Disney, just anti-nonsense.

kerfy 1 points 4 days ago.

lol, the point is money was paid.. and yes disney “bought” the distribution rights. All I know , is I didn’t much like the first episode, due to the way the doctor was portrayed.. The gender-ish stuff that in referred to with the whole “Disney” thing don’t matter to me, in sci-fi, cause sci-fi has always explored different viewpoints and “cultural” thangs.. I , myself believe that is good for the thinking mind, wether I like it or not.. I think it falls under the speculative fiction blanket..

The show has a viewership of almost twice the population of the UK. Like it or not, it belongs to the world now. The BBC is British television, and they went into this deal knowing full well that this would happen. You can’t blame the player for how the game is played.

Not when you take into account that the show is and always has been a British institution with the show itself being made and produced in the UK and when the show did air episodes worldwide at the same time they always put the UK audience first.

Disney only bought the streaming rights. They have no creative control of the show. Russell Davies has complete creative control. Sony, the BBC, Bad Wolf Studios and Disney can offer input, but in the end Davies is the only one calling the shots. He has said before that he is a fan of Disney, in particular Pixar, and that he wanted to add more fantasy elements to the show. Anyone not liking it should blame Davies, not Disney, but for many that won’t fit into the anti-Disney narrative some are pushing now.
