This story was too slow-paced for my liking. Personally, I would’ve liked to see more of the aftermath, and less focusing on the spoiled-rotten daughter. I actually had to fast-forward a couple of times, here and there. So for me, it could’ve been better.

What an awesome cast for this remake! Mark your calendars for October 7th!
This is a loosely based adaptation of “The Turn of the Screw” by Henry James; perfect for the season…
I think I read this was based on a couple different Henry James stories BUT MAINLY “Turn of the Screw” which was previously adapted as “The Innocents” most famously, GREAT movie with Deborah Kerr! and earlier this year as the much-maligned “The Turning”.
It’s funny that a show called “Adult Material” may contain adult material lol
Spoiler alert and content warning: lots of nudity in this episode. Male and female.
Favorite episode of the season so far for me on this one as well. Such a weird, debaucherous bachanallial vibe going on. I dig it!
had me scratching my head what the hell was going on till the last 10 secs -then it all made sense - really like this writing style when they make something look ominous or dodgy and then explain it away rationally i wish more movies /tv series were made like this -instead of blatant shock horror etc
Watched the first episode. Really disturbing stuff and probably not the way you think either!
that funny, u called it starter horror. Not sure if you watched the return of TWD yet, but when it premire on TV proper on sunday “The World Beyond” will follow after TWD. and that episode seemes to be the most grapich I’ve seen in a long while.
I’m getting ready to watch rn. I read a few non “spoilery” reviews and they’ve said that it’s sort of like TWD, but with teens and less action. So I’m going into it kinda expecting something different.
I wonder if those reviews you mentioned got access to more than just the pilot episode. normally profesional reviewers get the first 3 or 4 episodes and sometimes as much as half the season to make a full judgement.
Very true Jhigh03! I can’t see this going too hardcore horror. It’s definitely starter horror and I’m ok with that.

I liked it but I think I’d probably have preferred a Judith spinoff (with Cailey Fleming) after original recipe TWD ends but alas, this isn’t bad at all but I can definitely see a lot of the hardcore fans not liking this.
OMG, its here!
I’m curious to find out how many hardcore TWD fans are going to hate this show. I’m more of a casual fan of the original recipe but I thought this was a good start for me at least.
Just watched. It’s very different from original recipe TWD or Fear. Almost like if “Party of Five” had zombies. That being said, I will continue to watch as I like the characters, especially Hope.
Also important to note. I can see a lot of hardcore TWD fans absolutely HATING this show but I would like to be proven wrong :).

Airing in the U.S. On the Topic streaming service starting October 1st 2020
That’s probably because it’s on a weird channel. A lot of shows on “deep cable” get lost amid the shuffle.

My favorite new show of 2020! The show is very inconsistent quality-wise however lol. But the characters are likeable. It’s got growing pains to do for sure.
This episode is going to be crazy. Prepare to see “Barb” in a new light?
Must be desperate. Kinda like how Cage ended up doing weird movies. smh hard pass.
Most Nic Cage movies, even his most insufferable non-Mandy (Mandy is a legit masterpiece) ones are at least somewhat fun to watch whereas Bruce Willis “junk movies” tend to be just plain bad.
Oh man. This last episode really got to me. Now, it takes a lot for a tv show to bring water to my eyes. But this one did. I binge-watched this season (something I do rarely), and I was not bored at all. Kudos to the people involved with this season. Can’t wait to see what season 2 will bring. Definitely worth a watch.
The season 1 finale was amazing. I remember watching it when it originally aired. Seasons 2 and 3 are generally seen as less good than season 1 but it’s best you see for yourself but yes, the first season finale was spectacular! 👍
Geez, you get thrown right off the bat into different plots, and that, without establishing the characters. It would’ve been nice to have an episode or 2 to do so. I’m not sure what to think of this series yet. I’ll have a better idea after the next 2 episodes.
It’s a widely acclaimed show that was a huge hit when it came out but yes, it is complicated. Hopefully, it all works out for you in the end :).
I’m most intrigued at the fact that this is the 2nd thing Juno Temple has been in with this title, the other one being an unrelated movie from a few years back with the now retired Kay Panabaker.
Oh geez, where to start? Well, I went in hoping for a good historical drama and all I found was the worst series I have watched all year. The worst. The audio was especially grueling. Someone needs to throw Sky Go an extra $12 to buy a new microphone because everyone sounds like a 1940s sportscaster. This show is so bad the CIA needs to use it as an enhanced interrogation technique at black sites. 0/10
Are you sure the 1940s sportscaster thing wasn’t an intentional choice?
Worth watching for Oona’s wig alone!
