This is the best of the time travel series 5/5

Death and Nightingales (2018)

The writing and cast are excellent. This deserves a much higher rating.

Baptiste (2019)

Tcheky Karyo is excellent in everything. Characters have a lot of depth, well written and the emotional stakes are high. Not necessary to watch The Missing first but that’s excellent and well worth it.

The Spanish Princess (2019)

Interesting story and time period - looking at Tudor England through the Spanish delegation of Henry’s wife Catharine. If you’re a historical costume nerd this production is 10/10, overall 7/10.

The Planets (2019)
asclepias 3 points 4 years ago.

This is a unique series - incredible cinematography. Brian Cox takes the innovative approach of telling the story by typing landscapes on the Earth to similarities in the other planets in the solar system. 9.5/10

Perpetual Grace LTD (2019)

Fargo with a Southwestern flair. Superstar cast, amazing writing. You’ll never see Ben Kingsley do anything this depraved again, I guarantee you.

The Capture (2019)

If you liked Person of Interest you’ll love this.

Der Pass (2019)

Pretty good thriller series - liked the characters and the setting and acting is solid. Great rainy weekend binge watch. 4/5

Upright (2019)

I would rank this series in my top THREE of the last 5 years. Funny, humane, sad, uplifting, funny. So much heart! Tim Minchon is amazing and Milly Alcock is the most talented teenager I’ve ever seen. Writing is top-notch, acting is even better. 5/5, I’ll be coming back to this more than once.

One Strange Rock (2018)

This is top notch science, plus Will Smith! If you like The Planets (BBC) and How the Universe Works you’ll love One Strange Rock.

A Christmas Carol (2019)

This is a great version - Guy Pearce surprisingly good. Worth an annual watch.

De bende van Jan de Lichte (2020)
asclepias 3 points 4 years ago.

Really well made and acted period drama - the Robin Hood of Belgium, fascinating time period. 5/5

Star Trek: Enterprise (2001)
asclepias 1 points 4 years ago.

Ah, as a die-hard Trekkie this one was always the least interesting to me. One of the newer series but in many aspects feels the most dated. 3/5. If I were to recommend: Deep Space Nine 5/5, great writing and stellar cast - self-introspection and the meaning of existence as well as science. That one really captures the essence of the best of sci fi.

Ragnarok (2020)
asclepias 2 points 4 years ago*.

Great update and unique way of tying the story into today’s world. I typically don’t YA but that wasn’t a limiting factor here. So slow! Finally got going in the last ep - can’t wait for Season 2. What a teaser!

Deadwater Fell (2020)
asclepias -2 points 4 years ago.

Great talent but slow moving - could have been 2 episodes instead of 4. 2.5/5

The Stranger (2020)
asclepias 2 points 4 years ago.

Excellent writing, top notch acting, suspenseful, plot twists - 9.5/10. Can’t understand why this is rated so low. Easily one of the best thiller/suspense I’ve seen in 5 years. Must watch!
