A slight improvement over the last two episodes but not by much. You have to hand it to Ingelsby, as a writer he stays true and consistent to the theme that all men are lazy, dumb, goofy or drunk. Add to this Mare is suddenly a super sleuth able to find bullet ricochets in the dark and also commit multiple felonies without going to jail? Yeah not buying it. Good block of time got wasted on things not relevant to the story for the sake of trying to stay culturally relevant. Script writers these days seem to think inclusivity has to be part of every story regardless of genre when at the end of the day most of the time it adds nothing to the story besides making you tune in for 7 episodes when it could have been done in 5. Not looking promising to be honest.

I have never seen a more confused “crime series” script. I don’t think the writers can make up their minds if they want this to be a small town crime story or a story about teenage lesbians It’s official, it’s a goner.
When you realize this series is 90% BS as far as historical accuracy regarding the criminal underworld of the 60’s in New York, it is really entertaining. I mean who doesn’t like a good fantasy?
If you know Boston Crime History you will quickly recognize this series is a muddled amalgamation of several Boston crime events and criminal and law enforcement personalities. Really weak script overall. They should have concentrated more on the street side instead of trying to imitate the Wire and be all layered. Simple is best with crime series otherwise you get fake crap like this.
Superb Foreign WW2 Resistance film. Combine this with Max Manus and you have a double feature True Story of valor and courage in the face of utter destruction. A+
Being a crime history buff I was familiar with the LAPD Rampart scandal and man was my mind blown when all the dots started being connected between that case and the BIG murder. The writers (and Poole) did a fantastic job of presenting a very layered, detailed case of high level police corruption and the proceeding cover up. Depp did a bang-up job as usual.
I was reminded of this film which is about the invasion of Denmark on the same day as Norway, April 9th. Excellent piece of history.

A real under the radar Foreign WW2 Gem. Based on the true story of Operation Bernhard in WW2, this is the tale of a jewish counterfeiter’s survival in Nazi Concentration Camps and the moral dilemma he faced of using his talents to stay alive while at the same time sabotaging the plans of his captors. Superb script and acting. Reminded me a lot of The Grey Zone, maybe not as dark but definitely just as moving. A+
Hands Down, one of the best series on Marines in Combat ever made. Based on the book by the same name (which is worth reading). I worked with First Recon in those early days of 2003 and The Iceman and his crew were some squared away, hilarious, carniverous savages! Semper Fi.
Born right here in my home state…WOO…PIG! I’m sure you’ve watched the “Shooter” and Levon is in this movie too and I almost didn’t recognize him at first.
Yep, seen them all. One of my favorites of his is another Tommy Lee Jones neo-western classic “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada”..the blind old man in the desert shack. I have been trying to get the last musical Doc he made before he passed, “Ain’t in it for my Health” which is a WONDERFUL tribute to the artist that was Levon Helm. Musician, Actor, Songwriter, Screenwriter. RIP Old Buddy!
Definitely one of the best 9/11 movies I have seen in some time. Keaton really knocked it out of the park. One of his best performances since The Founder.
Whoa. Axe’s play with Rhoades Sr.(to get to Jr.) was EPIC! Nothing so binding as getting a man to owe you his LIFE! 👍
Sigh…Another poorly written post WW2 Historical drama series.
Generic, unimaginative, unrealistic writing with multiple sub-plots that only muddy the overall storyline and drag it out needlessly.
On a positive note the German actress Nina Hoss was excellent.
One of the best choregraphed shootouts in a movie NOT directed by Michael Mann (he did Produce it so maybe that was his influence?) Jennifer Garner was FIERCE in this one!
Wow, I really hope the linkers can find most of these.. This is bonafide Americana Corny Horror History right here folks! It brought back some really good memories of when I was a Kid…every Saturday night me and my brothers would stay up and watch Elvira and some really corny ass horror movie to the wee hours…such good times! 👍
What a powerful ending to a really well written season! Wow.
I am glad it got renewed for a Season 5 so Sonny can go out there and make Cass proud. I always liked the fact the writers put as much emphasis on Sonny’s life as they did Cass, now we know why.
What has become of Dr. Pol?
Has the Rona took him out?

A little rough around the edges at times, but overall the writing and casting round this one out to be a nice little mob tale.
After you watch this watch A Private War.

This is a great documentary to watch in conjunction with Season 3 of Deutschland 89. Puts so much in context.

Really well done movie about the Red Army Faction. Excellent script and acting.
The writing this season has been top notch as usual. Cassie’s home life and struggles has really been crafted to fit into the storyline so as not to make it seem like “filler” but a really authentic and integral part of the character. I also like the writer’s use of UK slang, ie “Old Bill” for coppers. Looking forward to the season finale but also bummed knowing one of the best procedurals on TV will be over. Oh well, at least we have Line of Duty and Endeavour Season 8 coming up end of the year!
Kudos to the linkers..this is a hard to find gem!
Excellent story based around the Bosnian War of the 1990’s. Check out them Yugo SKS’s!
The writers are outdoing themselves this season.
This is shaping up to be a Shakesperean showdown like no other.
Elen Klimov strange, twisted tale of the Romanov’s and the hermit monk who went over to the dark side. If you have not experienced Russian cinema before, after this go watch a Tarkovsky flick like Stalker or Solaris.
I’m here because of Val Kilmer’s new Doc, Val. I thought I would re-visit some of his movies I have not seen in a while.
Although this film was a hot mess from beginning to end behind the scenes (Watch the Doc Lost Soul for the real scoop) I actually liked the story and the characters, a modern take on the HG Wells Classic.
In the canon of gritty, well done 90’s crime movies, One False Move stands out for two big reasons: One, it is one of the late, great Bill Paxton’s hidden gems (the runner up would have to be his role as Severen the redneck vampire in one of Kathyrn Bigelow’s early movies, Near Dark) Two, it is IMHO one of Billy Bob’s best screenplays next to Slingblade. A lot of people forget that Billy Bob cut his teeth in Hollyweird as a starving screenwriter before he made it big and started eating regularly and wearing blood amulets.
Wow, this is a HBO crime series? Felt more like a chick flick/teenage ABC soap opera to me. So much for those True Detective comparisons. Still, Ingelsby is a decent writer, so let’s see what happens.
Whoever chose the name of this movie should be fired. I thought it was either about gays or pedophiles, turns out, it has a very old and strange looking Ben Affleck playing his real life role, a drunk loser with no talent. This is yet another “Amazon Original” piece of garbage that does it’s best to Criminalize Fatherhood in every way. Talk about a gang of Losers. The only bright spot in the entire hour and a half was Christopher Lloyd farting if that tells you anything about this movie.
Great documentary on one of the all time best country music songwriters.
Really bad remake of the South Korean Crime Classic A Hard Day.

In the realm of Foreign WW2 Spy Thrillers, this one with Rolf Lassgard is not top shelf but it’s not a complete dog turd either. The script is based loosely on the life of Norwegian actress Sonja Wigert.
Connor Macleod from Highlander was a Coffin Dodger before it was even cool.
Phenomenal Series! My only gripe is the length. 12 episodes was excessive. Could have easily been done in ten. Looking forward to Season 2 now.
In Memory of the 3 People who were Killed 9/11/13 and the 264 who were wounded in the Boston Marathon Bombing.
We Will Never Forget.
Victims of 9/11/13:
Martin Richard, 8, a student at Neighborhood House Charter School in Boston.
Krystle Campbell, 29, of Medford, Massachusetts.
Lingzi Lu, a graduate student at Boston University. She was originally from China.
In Memory of the 344 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers and 55 military personnel who were killed at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 9/11.
Never Forget.
Can we please get some links with just English subs? This dubbed mess is for the birds.
The one and only REAL Equalizer, Edward Woodward in one of his best roles other than Robert McCall! Thanks linkers!
