Pizza: A Love Story
( 2019 )
In the 6 block radius of Wooster square lies the trifecta, Sally's, Pepe's and Modern. Three pizza palaces loved by everybody from Presidents to Rock Stars. Even Frank Sinatra used to send his driver all the way from Hoboken just to pick up some pies. And to the people of the Elm City, there's no question. Since Frank Pepe first wheeled his bread cart down Wooster street in 1925, New Haven has been home to the finest pizza on the planet. Coming off the success of his last feature, "Color Me Obsessed, a film about The Replacements," which Rolling Stone named "one of the seven best music documentaries of the year," director Gorman Bechard moves from one lifelong obsession to another. This time taking a look at the long history, the families, the high and the lows of three universally recognized restaurants, and how a city that itself has gone through many highs and lows, has always rallied behind them. Pizza, A Love Story will feature interviews family members (including Sally's wife Flora, and Frank Pepe's grandson), lifelong fans (both famous and not), and food critics, intercutting archival footage and vintage photographs (many never before seen publicly), all to explain the passion, the long lines, and how a small town in Connecticut became the pizza center of the universe. It promises to be the most mouth-watering film ever made.

As Sylvia Beach, the woman who first published Ulysses, new dimensions concerning the importance of Nora in Joyce's literary visions of women emerge, and when Flanagan interprets Joyce characters like Molly Bloom or a washerwoman from Finnegan's Wake, the beauty of Joyce's language shines through the melodious words.

During their stay, Billy and his family, along with musicians, staff, and a huge press entourage spent their days interacting with the Russian people, forging true bonds of friendship wherever they went. For the first time, A Matter Of Trust - The Bridge To Russia: The Concert presents an expanded version of what fans saw and heard over a quarter-century ago. The newly remastered concert film, originally directed by Wayne Isham, adds seven previously unreleased songs to the original 1987 VHS release Live From Leningrad, including a bonus performance of "Pressure." The performances have been completely remasterd from the original 35 millimeter negatives for the best audiovisual quality. Billy has always believed that going to Russia was the most important thing he'd ever done as a performer. The freedom and excitement of his presence permanently affected the country and played a role in the ultimate dissolution of the U.S.S.R. in 1991. "

Shurik follows this person all over the city reading over the shoulder, not even noticing who this person is and where they are going. A depository director, trying to cover up embezzlement on his depository, hires 3 crooks to simulate robbery. The plan is to get there at night, overpower an old lady guard and break a few things to make an impression of a big crime. ( 2007 )
The Carpenters were never hip but they did produce good melodic songs with strong hooks. Behind the success masked the personal demons of Karen Carpenter who was battling Anorexia which ultimately led to her death in 1983. This documentary looks at the brother and sister duo The Carpenters and Richard Carpenter contributes to the story and although he might gloss over it, the other contributors do not gloss over their sibling rivalry as Karen started to overshadow him. The band makes it big not only because of Richard's tunes but once Karen leaves the drum kit and takes centre stage she had the voice to do the songs justice. However with success came the demons. Richard battled sleeping pill addictions and Karen rapidly loss weight. Although many of the songs are still well known I did not see too many artists queueing up waxing lyrical about the duo's musical legacy. Maybe they still lack the hip factor.
