As Lucy goes about trying to make Max remember the joys of Christmas, especially with her mother no longer alive, Max decides to alter her wish in making it a Merry Christmas equally for her and for her father. In the process, Max may get that additional wish in Lucas and Lucy falling for each other. But a Merry Christmas this year may be in jeopardy if their mutual feelings are overtaken by both not yet being ready to open their hearts romantically, for Lucas in not wanting to forget Stephanie, and for Lucy in not wanting to be hurt again as was the case in the dissolution of her first marriage.

It's Christmastime in NYC and everyone is walking around happy and smiling except for Ava. Her workaholic boyfriend just canceled their Hawaiian vacation, and they seem to be growing apart. Across the country in California, widowed Mason and his daughter, Mia, prepare for Christmas alone. The three who have never met and live 3,000 miles apart, find themselves online when Mia convinces her Dad to rent out the guesthouse during the holidays for extra spending money...in other words, she wants that dog for Christmas and this is her plan to get it. They meet on a Holiday Home Rental website. Mia chats online and convinces Ava coming to California for Christmas is the perfect remedy for her holiday blues, not knowing Mia's age. Ava sends all her information and impulsively rents Mason's little guesthouse for the holiday in sunny Tinsel, California. Shortly after arriving, Ava realizes the situation, offers to pack up and leave, but both Mason and Mia convince her to stay and enjoy the holidays together. What starts out as an impulsive trip for Mia turns into an important step in achieving her own happiness.

Vanessa Hall is a New-York-based social worker working for a non-profit foster-child placement service, to pay it forward after having grown up in the foster-care system herself. She never knew her father and lost her mother at age 9 before she could ask her anything about him. As Christmas nears, she takes an ancestry test and not only learns her ethnic makeup but also that there is a positive paternity test in the company's system: her biological father is a Richard Hendricks, who lives an hour's drive away in Barrington, Connecticut with his wife Pauline and their three adolescent children, Caitlin, Aidan, and Emilia. After the two meet and talk, Richard invites her to come spend a few days with him and his family in Barrington to get to know them before she meets the extended family, who will descend on the house on Christmas Eve; she accepts. The only other person who has been invited for that extended stay at the same time is a family friend, New York corporate lawyer Kris, who would be able to give Vanessa a lift. Like Vanessa, Kris no longer has any biological family; his parents passed away when he was in college, and since then he has been spending holidays with the Hendricks, who have become his surrogate family, Richard having been Kris' father's best friend. After initiation apprehensions on both sides, Vanessa and the Hendricks make an emotional connection, but it's threatened by the different experiences Vanessa and Richard had with Vanessa's mother, and unanswered questions might in turn threaten the burgeoning romantic connection between Vanessa and Kris.

With her article's deadline approaching, Charity discovers the real source of Erik's funding and must decide whether or not exposing the truth is worth ruining her newfound belief in the magic of Christmas and love for Erik.

Scrooge is then thrown into the world of pantomime and meets poor Cinderella (Barbara Windsor) at the beck and call of her ugly sisters(Peter Butterworth and Terry Scott) With some camp help from Buttons (Charles Hawtrey) and the Fairy Godmother (Frankie Howerd) Scrooge resolves to embrace the spirit of Christmas. Unfortunately he lavishes affection on a passer-by (Hattie Jacques) and is arrested by a policeman ( Bernard Bresslaw) .
