During the annual Nome to Golovin snowmobile competition, a 200-mile race across frozen tundra and taiga of western Alaska, high speeds and rugged terrain mean troopers have their hands full. They are called into action when racers are injured in a crash. As many Alaskans are gun owners, tensions between neighbors can quickly elevate, and troopers respond to calls of shots fired. |
