Disappointed they didn’t mention ergotism (theory published in Science magazine, 1976).
Also, it’s now understood that in medieval times, “witches,” were just People who liked to get high on hallucinogens…instead of ingesting them, which would lead to intestinal distress, they applied a homemade ointment onto a broomstick and, “rode,” it, or placed it under an armpit, so the concoction was absorbed. (This bit of history is not necessarily relevant to the ergot fungus infestation, or the Salem Witch Trials, but it is relevant to the Puritan’s mind-set at the time, as they knew many People in Europe had been executed after being accused of witchcraft — they were just to hillbilly to understand it was just straight People hating on Stoners).
