What to say about this series? I purposely avoided watching this series in its time as I am not a fan of Shannon Dorherty. I don’t dislike her personally but her acting talent is lost on me. That being said … I recently binged the series over a months time. Overall its a relatively decent tv series. The story from the first episode to the series finale is very good but the writing from episode to episode lacked consistency in the details, and many episodes had continuity issues when recalling past details. Finally, the writing for several episode was just plain bad. I would think that from week to week and season to season these script errors went unnoticed over the years, however when you sit through all 178 episodes in just under 30 days these poorly written episodes stand out. Now lets talk wardrobe … Initially Prue was the character who displayed an over abundance of flesh. Every episode she is in over the top outfits for a professional to wear to the office. Once Dohorty was written out, Milano and Combs became part of the production team. The character of Pheobe now steps up to carry the torch of the “scantily clothed” and some of her outfits were beyond extreme especially for an office environment. The words apparel appropriateness is completely lost in this series. I am not sure if the abundance of exposed flesh was a tactic to hold the male viewers but I know it really took away from the series because there was just no justification for it whatsoever and the fact that the series takes place in San Francisco is not enough. Other than the actual writing of several episodes this series was a pretty entertaining and enjoyable watch. Having to sit through episode after episode of major flesh exposure took away from the series for me because there was no reason for it that the story could justify, except maybe to draw in the male viewers. Heck they should have written Pheobes character as an exhibitionist not a columnist at least that way they could explain the content. The sisters are suppose to be decent people, kind, moral, ethical, and they were written as “good girls” for the most part. So why dress them like two bit whores? Ratings? I don’t know, I am just saying for me it took away from the series, it was just to constant and too much and not required for the story line.
