Cool feature. Obviously the release is timed to serve as a promo for the “final” Craig outing as Bond. I like Craig’s Bond but I feel that’s more due to the “grittier” direction they decided to take when they rebooted the series back in ‘06.
His tenure reminds me of Timothy Dalton’s: the movies were similar in tone but unfortunately the studio was mucking about during the interlude between “License to Kill” and “Goldeneye.” Just like Dalton, Craig wanted to negotiate his contract movie-by-movie and the studio kept trying to rope him in for several at a time. Craig managed to stick around longer than he wanted but Dalton bailed—in hindsight, a poor career move, as “Goldeneye” reinvigorated the series enough to keep Brosnan employed for awhile.
I wonder where the series is headed now that Amazon owns MGM and its properties, including Bond. Hopefully they’ll let the Broccoli family keep the reins, but I’m concerned that they’ll try to make it into an episodic series or a “cinematic universe.” I just think that would ruin Bond.
