This is UK 70s Christmas nostalgia with baubles on! If you’re old enough to remember the decade, there’s a good chance you probably watched the original All Creatures Great And Small Christmas episode first time around, such was its popularity and likewise such were the scarcity of alternative British TV channels at the time.
Of course even in the 70s,the show was already a nostalgia trip, set as it was in the 1930s and yet the power of the James Herriot books (upon which the show was based) infuses it with a sweet timeless melancholy and gently reminds us what this season is all about.
