Jeez, that lesbian couple was annoying all season and thought they were gone for good until a few episodes ago. Regardless, solid season IMO. I was very skeptical of mob boss Chris Rock after the first episode, but like most of the actors they’ve brought on the show, he hit it out of the park.

Excellent humor.

So good. I’m digging how Kirkman is pacing the series as opposed to the comic. The plots we’ve seen thus far were excellent in the book as well, but streamlining certain things over the course of 1-2 episodes that originally spanned 2-5 issues works better for a tv format IMO. Also, didn’t think I could praise the casting any more than I have already, but having Justin Roiland voice the trust fund dude was great. Kirkman is a treasure.

NGL this version of task master was… different, not what I expected or really wanted.

Agree x100. I was psyched to see Taskmaster in the MCU then disappointed upon realizing it’s essentially a completely different character.

Not the best MCU movie, but not the worst either. I was looking forward to seeing Taskmaster finally make an appearance in the MCU, but quickly disappointed that it’s a completely different character than the comic counterpart. Regardless, I’m hoping the character ends up returning in the future and this wasn’t a one and done type deal; be a great antagonist for an upcoming Deadpool movie/series.

So god damn good. Hands down my favorite comic series, but the fight was done even better on the show. Kirkman is a living legend.

What will you have in 500 years? “I’ll still have you, Dad”. I cri evertim.

If you install uBlock Origin you probably won’t need seven.

Truth. My main browser for 10+ years was Safari, but when it dropped support for uBlock Origin I quickly ditched it for Firefox. It’s so good that I literally forget pop-up ads exist until I see them mentioned.

Marvel's Luke Cage (2016)

Just getting around to watching the Netflix Marvel shows that aren’t Punisher or Daredevil. Shame Disney canned all the Marvel-Netflix shows. WandaVision was terrible IMO and the Winter Solider + Falcon spin-off was better, but still lacking the hallmarks of a great television series. Thus far it feels like the new Marvel tv series only serve the purpose of padding the Disney+ library and being glorified advertisements for the next MCU films. The Punisher was an excellent Marvel series and just a legitimately good piece of television as a whole. Luke Cage on the other hand, so-so.

I thought the first season was very enjoyable and told a compelling story. Then the second season happens and it almost feels like a whole different show with the same characters. Halfway through Season 2 it starts dragging and giving too much screen-time to develop characters I don’t particularly care for. Maybe it’s just because it seems like Luke Cage himself takes a backseat to other characters during the season. Either way, I’d definitely recommend giving the first season a watch if, like me, you haven’t already seen it in the 5 some years since originally airing.

Solid overall episode of R&M; better than last week’s IMO. This season has been excellent so far and it says a lot when this was still pretty good and probably the second worst so far.

Now that’s what I call a sticky situation…I haven’t looked into whether or not FTWD changed showrunners or anything between season 5 and 6, but the first two episodes have been excellent. The opening sequence alone was better than most of season 5.

WandaVision (2021) S1 E9

Genuinely curious to know how many people end up actually catching the credits scenes when the previous 8 episodes all had 6-8+ min of credits; you’d think that’d condition people to just turn it off. Anyway, I’m overall disappointed with the show as a whole and likely won’t plan on watching a season 2 if there is one. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad, but it just isn’t good and certainly not good enough to warrant a 9 episode series; episodes 1-8 could’ve been condensed into maybe 2 and the whole thing could’ve been a 3 episode mini-series, however, Disney needs those subscriptions to renew. It’s the reason why the Manadlorian is a weekly show as well, so I don’t feel as though that assumption is a leap in logic.

I was really interested in the concept before the series started, but it just stumbled out of the gate and dragged along each week. It unfortunately also confirmed the suspicion that many of the Marvel Disney+ series would be little more than glorified commercials for future Marvel movies. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad move, especially with how much world-building they have to do now that they re-gained the rights to X-men and Fantastic 4, but you have to call a spade a spade and this show was 3/4 gimmick with 1/4 substance.

If you enjoyed it then that’s great; I hope you continue to do so. I’m just not very optimistic anymore about any of the other shows in the pipeline if they go on to follow a similar formula. X-men the animated series is nearly 30 years old now and still holds up really well; that’s a high benchmark, but given the fact that Marvel has so many great creative minds on the team as well as Disney’s endless cash stack, it didn’t seem like much of an ask. Again, this is my opinion, so don’t bother arguing. However if you’re someone who enjoyed this series then I highly recommend you check out the X-men animated series either here or Disney+ as it’s currently available on both. Not only is it an excellent series faithful to the source material, but it’s a perfect jumping off point for anyone who’s not too familiar with X-men. Cheers.
