Wow.this season was really bad.i kept hoping for it to get better and it disappointed on every front the season finale was very very bad. I can’t remember the other seasons very well but supernatural stuff wasn’t real was it?just evil people doing evil things.

Researcher 2 points 2 months ago.

But you hung in there, didn’t you?! That makes it a winner if you stuck around till the end.

Well, all ends but one tied up nicely so, I guess the latter.

Worked for me but, still wondering if the tongue story is a “let’s see if they like it” veiled attempt at a feeler for what kind of audience would clock in for a 2nd season. I certainly would!

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Thorette and the screaming goat-boat. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be. Maybe going in with low expectations made it half-way decent.

“Thorette” LOL!

Good Lord! After reading the comments, I hesitated. Should I really watch something that would obviously be so painful to watch? I went in anyway. Was it masochistic of me? Curiosity to see how bad it could get? Or hoping for a happy ending, somehow?
For those who jump in, eyes wide shut, hang in there. You won’t get disappointed!

Researcher 1 points 2 months ago.

PS. Found this: The name “Capernaum” has its origins in two Hebrew words, “Kefar” meaning village and “Nahum” denoting comfort. Hence, the name “Capernaum’ literally means the “Village of Comfort” Now I understand why so many overhead shots.

This was pretty good…once I got the characters straight. Everyone is so bundled up in winter gear that I couldn’t tell them apart! Kind of like a Finnish version of Guy Ritchie’s “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” only a bit slower. Description lists “Comedy” but it’s not a funny ha ha type of comedy…more like chuckle chuckle or even hee hee.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. The ending set up a possible follow-on season…I’ll allow it!

The Nordic (Denmark/Germany/Sweden) crime drama on which it’s based, was an original series complemented by several movies. So good that I had to create a playlist with them all, just to keep track!
Fingers crossed they don’t “fix what ain’t broke” as the original series and movies were excellent. The two main actors, Nikolaj Lie Kass and Fares Fares, made a great team. We shall see if there’s the same chemistry between Goode and Manvelov. Also, Byrne and Macdonald usually deliver with their performance. So, it’s up to the writers…sigh!

World Breaker
Piglet 2 points 3 months ago.

As you can see, there is no information about this movie…read on. If you’re a fan of Luke Evans and Milla Jovovich, they’re going to start in a sci-fi thriller, World Breaker. The film centers on a father and his daughter. Five years previously, a tear in the fabric of reality brought creatures to our world from an alternate dimension bent on our destruction. The father hides his daughter on an island to keep her safe, while he prepares her for survival and the battles to come. But no place is safe.

Geez, it certainly reads well. Both are faves of mine, as well as the genre. Adding it, on your word only…know where I can buy a bridge for $5? LOL!

I was thinking that it was all in his head until the people came out and Wayne Brady was included. I think that’s probably where the disappointment is stemming from. I don’t think there is a better series in this genre available. Riveting plot and writing, every cast member at the top of their game; plus Graham Yost is a masterful showrunner. And…
they gave us a little holiday present by confirming season 4 is in the can.

I like that the show isn’t bloated with filler like most are now. Each episode is so rich with detail that I rewatch the previous season before a new one drops and the story is just as delightful as the 1st time.

Wow! Zack Snyder does it again! Doesn’t merit comparison to any other world; it can actually stand on its own. I agree that the lead actress needs a bit more oomph to her delivery. A Murder at the End of the World (2023) S1 E7
HarryDurden 3 points 4 months ago.

The animated film I believe you are referencing is WALL-E. It’s set in the future after the Earth is basically made unlivable and the remaining humans are on a large spacecraft just drifting through space with nowhere to go. They ride around the spacecraft in personal hovercraft (like a floating barcalounger) with a monitor in front of them that they are all glued to. They are all fat and don’t even notice the other humans around them also in their hovering barcaloungers. The don’t directly communicate with each other and only do so through their connected monitors. I’ve said multiple times that this is happening in real time in real life right now.

Researcher 2 points 4 months ago.

I find it interesting that Tay, the AI Twitter bot created by Microsoft, started adopting some of the less admirable traits of some of the users there while the AI chatbot created by Musk himself, Grok, seems to have gone the opposite direction.

Researcher 1 points 4 months ago.

It all comes down to programming…the original code (and subsequent programmed reactions to the original coding) can’t help but carry the programmers “signature.”

A Murder at the End of the World (2023) S1 E7
AmieWarren 3 points 4 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Andy should at least be charged with involuntary manslaughter, because he created Ray. It’s like if a self-driving Tesla ran over and killed someone, Musk would be responsible because the buck stops with him. Of course, the child would not be culpable, as he did not know what he was doing. You can’t escape responsibility by saying “I didn’t know that would happen if I did such and such.” Our laws must be updated to deal with these possibilities in the future.

Maybe not another season, but at least a movie to wrap it all up. I just don’t like endings where you have to imagine what you would like to happen.

Researcher 2 points 4 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Re involuntary manslaughter, great point! Certainly will need to be addressed…sooner than later…when the deed is done.

Me, too! This and the cry baby Bart in Beacon 23…the new villains. All because we want to build a thing that does the things that we no longer want to do. Could this have all started with wanting something to balance our checkbooks?! Can’t remember the name but there was an animated film about people off-world in VR growing fat…leaving only a last robot on the surface…that’s one that brings shudder!

A Murder at the End of the World (2023) S1 E7
AmieWarren 3 points 4 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

RANT: I do not like this ending. I know the title itself makes it unlikely that it will be a continuing series, but WTAF??? If Andy is free, he can (and likely will) create a system to find Lee and Zoomer (if they even made it out alive. ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!! This is not a proper ending! Very unhappy right now. We at least need a movie to wrap it up, see Lee and Zoomer safe and Andy in prison! Seriously, this is unacceptable. I know, I know….I should not get to invested in a TV show.

Researcher 3 points 4 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Not an attack…just conversing.
Why would we need to see Andy imprisoned? He did not purposely drive Ray to do what he did. This is yet another product “showing” how an AI will evolve and act on what it makes of putting 2 and 2 together. In Darby’s words, Andy “mated his therapy bot with his security bot.” Ray then used Zoomer as his physical “tool” to take out the threat(s). I think that Andy will continue to work on his AI, thinking that he can steer the AI…mistake! I do agree with you that it makes sense for Andy to ceaselessly search for his son…his ego will not let go of Zoomer that easily.
But honestly, I’m good with where it ended. I don’t think it’s enough to explore in another season. As much as I enjoy Marling/Batmanglij products, they don’t seem to have much luck selling any follow-on…too bad for us!

Geez, I’ve never been so sick of an AI in my life! Even Skynet is more preferable than this cry baby! At least, Skynet was clear about its mission: kill humans…no identity crisis there! I am watching it right now and I think that its being set up for a new season of 22 episodes. They clearly mention this during a meeting. I blame the “Showrunners” They turned this show into a giant ego stroke. Why do y’all think at the end of every episode you’re forced to sit in their bland crappy apartments and listen to them pat themselves on the back about the decisions they made.

They force decisions and pull rank to get done what they want. Then sit around telling everyone how creative they are, when the writers and directors are trying to work around their decisions and egos. Padre was a waste of a season. All the Madison returns BS was awful. So many other options and people they could have brought in from other shows. Just awful.

Researcher 2 points 5 months ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

So true on all points!
I watched one “inside the episode” and recognized it for what it was: “Mommy, look what I made!” I always thought that these explanations were necessary when there was so much nuance that viewers would need it. But with this last season, I don’t think so.
Will definitely agree with you on “The Madison Season.” I couldn’t figure out why they needed her to come back. And her flip-flopping from “help the children” to “kill everybody” to “find Alicia” was horrible.
FTWD should have quit after s2 or s3…there was no weight to anything that came after. Actually, I lost interest after John Dorie’s death.
I get that they had to attract Lennie James and Kim Dickens with whole seasons worth of “soul searching” but these two characters had waaay too much screen time. I kept waiting for FTWD to meet up with TWD characters that had hit the road, but that never happened. I guess spinoffs were a bigger ROI.
These two shows are a clear example that too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing!
