Six Ways to Sunday (1999)

Odd little psychoflick starring a 25 yo Norman Reedus. Worth checking out if you’re a Norman fan.

True Detective (2014) S4 E1
etim 2 points 3 months ago.

Good first ep!
I wish they’d run stuff like this in the summer. It’s too cold out to be watchin’ it on TV too.

Off to a good start. Sam Spade in 1963 France.

Not funny, just a silly waste of time. Disappointing.

I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I Have a Three Picture Deal at Disney (Short 1993)
etim 1 points 3 months ago*.

This is supposedly the first film written/directed/produced by Ben Affleck back when he was a student.
With a title like that, I was expecting it to be at least a little funny. It wasn’t.
After watching this piece of crap, it’s amazing to think that he co-wrote Good Will Hunting only a few years later. Musta had some damned good teachers in that time in between.

Grimsburg (2024)

Sanctuary: A Witch's Tale (2024)
etim 4 points 4 months ago*.

The first two eps were fairly boring and stereotype filled examples of yet another one of those Brit whitebread suburban family mysteries—except they threw in a little minor witchcrafty stuff in this one to make it a little different from all the other stories just like it.
And like all the others, they tossed in a tease at the end of each ep to keep us sucked in, hoping to keep us watching.

I have a bad feeling that this will end up just being another one of those shows that will go on and on like this till the end, always promising (but never actually delivering) that it will finally turn into something worth watching.

Zombieland (2009)
yellow_rose1 2 points 4 months ago.

yes I’m going to check that one out next. Is it just as good?

etim 4 points 4 months ago.

Not quite but still fun—and also worth watchin’.

Zombieland (2009)
yellow_rose1 3 points 4 months ago.

I like this z movie. The soundtrack is killer. Metallica, Early Van Halen and I’m only 30 mins in I should have watched this a long time ago

etim 3 points 4 months ago.

There’s a sequel too, if you didn’t already know it.

Beyond the Trek (2017)
trillianregina 3 points 4 months ago.

Well, it’s one of the few movies where everyone looking so young and perfect actually worked with the plot. Gotta give them a li’l plus there. Good, tiny sets. Acting was a bit meh.

I can’t really comment on the plot, though. I fell asleep about 40 minutes in or so. 😬

Not sure if that was boredom (it did get a little slow) or just me being an old fart.

etim 3 points 4 months ago.

I guess it’s like what one of the reviewers on IMDB said:
‘’In space, no one can hear you snore’’…

Teenage Bounty Hunters (2020) S1 E8
Cap'n Kirk 0 points 4 months ago.

I really wish writers would leave the silly, corny stupid shows silly, corny and stupid. I am not 7 - 8 episodes deep into this show to learn a lifes lesson or express my sensitive side. Just stick with the formula that started the show. THERES NO CRYING IN BOUNTY HUNTING!!

etim 1 points 4 months ago.

Teenage girls being bounty hunters is unbelievable enough.
Two teen girls not getting ‘sensitive’ at all for 8 eps is way beyond unbelievable.

3rd Rock from the Sun (1996) S1 E18
The Castaways (2023)
etim 0 points 4 months ago*.

This is one of those shows that will make you wanna kick yourself for watching the whole thing, hoping it will get better, all the while cussing the stupid (irritatingly so) ppl doing stupid stuff on your screen.
Sloppy, lazy writing, producing situations that could (and did) only happen in a second rate TV drama.
Pretty scenery though—who doesn’t love an occasional desert island setting?
4/10

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023)
DonnyDarko 0 points 4 months ago.

This would probably been great if it had subtitles for the Japanese. Too many parts where I have no clue as to whats even going on. Ill have to wait to see later if episodes are put up with subs in them.

etim 3 points 4 months ago*.

Subs are available on Opensubtitles and Subscene…sometimes they’re available here too—but not for this show.
(And you can get subs using VLC players too, if you use it to watch shows).
It’s not hard to add them. Pretty simple, actually.
If you don’t know how to yet, there’s lots of tutorials on it on the net but you should be able to figure it out for yourself.

For All Mankind (2019) S4 E4
random000 -1 points 4 months ago.

What’s the deal with producers refusing to hard-code subtitle their own productions? No one should have to hunt down subs one way or another. We’re not paid by the studio to work for them. They should sub their own stuff. Sheesh to all that. And since we don’t stream, Subscene, here we come. Dammit.
┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐

etim 3 points 4 months ago.

The shows go out worldwide nowadays. HC subs in English will screw with subs ppl will want to add in their own language.

Nice flashback flick to help start the new year.

Entitled (2023)
etim 4 points 4 months ago*.

They’re calling it a comedy but it’s more of a mystery with quirky, oddball characters adding a comedic element. Gets more and more bizarre (and fun) as it goes on.
Entertaining half hour eps, worth the watch.

*Subs out on the net that are branded ‘MALAY’ are for a different show altogether.
Subscene has some good subs that have all 8 eps in one zip file.

Decent story but way too long. They could have trimmed 20-30 min. off just cutting out fluff and had had a much better flick.

Fargo (2014) S5 E5
Researcher 6 points 4 months ago.

I am LOVING Jennifer Jason Leigh in this! This episode truly showcased her villainous capabilities. When one thinks about how she’s putting her stamp and flair to the written word, one realizes how much she brings to the table. Jennifer Jason Leigh has got my vote for Fargo s5 MVP!

etim 4 points 4 months ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Yeah, it was great to see her character using her nastiness to screw with the bad guys for a change.
Judging by some of her expressions while she was talking to the sheriff, it looks like she might be starting to take a liking to her daughter in-law.
I’ll bet by the end of this all, she and Dorothy will end up being allies (if not even friends of sorts)…Dot might even end up running her empire down the road.

Hey thanks Ang, hope you’re ok. But I don’t know what that is. There are no search engines in that field from my account. It’s just blank. There use to be a lot, but now none & clicking does nothing (frowny face). It’s a really nice flick though & would make a post if I could.

You’ve got some extra script blockers and stuff (besides ublock origin, that is) on your rig, don’t you?
That might be why you don’t see all those icons.

The Highest of Stakes (2023)
etim 2 points 5 months ago*.

Wow. Talk about flooding your IMDB page with some fake reviews.
55 written reviews, all gushing over how great the flick is, all rated a 10 except for one 8. (So far). All written in the same style (gpt?) within 2 days of each other. And many (all? I quit checking) signed up 3 months ago and have only this single review.
808 quick votes, 89.9% of ‘em a 10.
And we’re supposed to believe from this hunk of propaganda that this guy’s on the level? (Snort)!

in my country,we just organise new parties,if we feel, the existing ones dont do the right choice for the people, what exactly holds you back? is it just the money of the political donours? is it the media? and why you people believe, the USA should be an example to any nation about “democracy”?

etim 1 points 5 months ago*.

New parties organized in your country? You mean like that (re)rise of that far right nationalist party that’s been going on there again lately?
Yeah, that sort of movement went soo well for you back nearly 100 years ago when you tried that shit, so y’all are hoping to give it another go?
Yeah, real smart!

I was confused for a minute there. I thought the bar tart and the artist’s sister were the same person—they looked so much alike.
But nope, two diff. characters, two diff. actors. Time for some new specs, or ease up on watching shows all night long.

In Your Dreams (2023)
etim 1 points 5 months ago*.

A watchable adventure-fantasy involving a magic statue; not a si-fi.
Not actually a comedy as listed either—just has an irritating sidekick in it who plays the idiot but otherwise it’s a straight drama.
Well made but def. needs subs— they switch back and forth between English and Tswana.
Subs are avail. on VLC, Opensubtitles and Subscene if they haven’t shown up here yet.

Transmissions from the Future (Short 2021) (2021)
grasshopper rex 2 points 5 months ago.

That’s one point of view and not one that I share. Look at how they screwed Bernie over. They tell us that our vote counts, but a candidate that loses by millions in the popular vote can still be president. I do vote still, but only in local elections. IMO, the rest of it is a farce.

etim 4 points 5 months ago.

That’s the kind of attitude that’s got the world in the mess that it’s in. Sit on yer ass, refuse to participate and the bad guys win for sure!

Transmissions from the Future (Short 2021) (2021)
grasshopper rex 8 points 5 months ago.

“Voting is a meaningless exercise. I’m not going to waste my time with it. These parties, these politicians are given to us as a way of making us feel we have freedom of choice. But we don’t. Everything is done to you in this country.”

— George Carlin

etim 3 points 5 months ago*.

Carlin said a lot of profound stuff in his time but he obviously wasn’t a precog.

He never foresaw how radically different the two parties have become nowadays—and how critical it is to vote if we have any hope at all of saving our democracy!
