Sam Elliott is finally looking his age (77) but his looks or age have not diminished is acting ability. No matter what character he takes on, he does it 100% and I do think westerns are his best genre.

The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

I’m looking forward to watching this and Andra Day! The lady can sing and my favorite from her is “Rise Up” and if you’ve not heard, go over to YouTube and listen to it. She gives me goose bumps when she sings it just as Whitney did when she sang “I Will Always Love You”.

The Knick (2014)

“In September 2020, Soderbergh confirmed that a new season of The Knick is in development led by Barry Jenkins and André Holland, who would return as his character Dr. Algernon C. Edwards, and that original creators Jack Amiel and Michael Begler have written a pilot episode” - via The Knick’s Wikipedia page

PonderThis 3 points 2 years ago.

I hope it comes to fruition because it is a good drama and not many medical dramas have been made during this time period. It is interesting to see how medical procedures were done and how some procedures were developed. I had no idea that cocaine was once used in liquid form.

See (2019)
PonderThis 3 points 4 years ago.

I liked the first episode and have 3 more to watch. It is different that’s for sure. And yes, it does remind me of “Frontier” too. I do hope we get a backstory and learn more about how they survived for centuries. Also has that “Wayward Pines” vibe too.

World on Fire (2019)
dinklefaust 2 points 3 years ago.

I can’t believe this came out in 2019 time sure does fly at times. It also feels like it’s been a really long time though.

PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

British dramas tend to wait a couple of years before releasing the next season. It’s frustrating for sure and I usually have to go back and watch the last episode of the previous year to remember what happened. Of course the pandemic probably also halted filming. The 2nd season was supposed to be released April 5, 2021 but as you can see, that didn’t happen.

Reprisal (2019)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago*.

No season 2 of this unique drama and now we’ll never know who done it either! Abigail Spencer is a great actress and I took note of her in Rectify and enjoyed her in Timeless. Feisty little actress!

Snowpiercer (2020) S2 E10
UGuess 3 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

think we’ll find ‘she’s’ at one of those hotspots

PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Not so sure about that but she could be seen in flashbacks maybe! She didn’t have any food and one of those hotspots was several miles away. She wouldn’t have had the strength to make it without food. I’ve always liked any character Sean Bean portrays, but I can’t stand him as Wilford! Someone needs to punch that smug “I’m the center of attention” smirk off of his face!

Now this looks good and can’t wait. Will be putting it on my list to watch.

Black Narcissus (2020)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

This arrives in late November and Diana Rigg is in this series. This is her last tv appearance and she had a part in a movie; Last Night in Soho which will be released in April of 2021. When this series start, I shall be watching.

1883 (2021) S1 E7
irdulili 2 points 2 years ago.

Yeah, I think this might even be a little wilder even than AMC’s Hell On Wheels. It would be cool to see more period dramas set in this time period. The “modern” westerns like the show that spawned this and Justified are great but they’re not quite the same.

PonderThis 3 points 2 years ago.

Oh, man, I forgot Hell on Wheels! I was hoping for another season of HOW. Anson Mount was the perfect actor for his character. His character had faults but tried to overcome those faults. Cut-throat tactics alive and well 19th century and on into the 21st century. The question is how will the new type of western portray the plight of the Native Americans? For years we’ve seen Hollywood’s depiction of Native Americans. Curious to see how 1883 will move forward as they get deeper into the territory where there is unrest. Even in Yellowstone, there is still friction!

The Serpent (2021)
TX2Guns 3 points 3 years ago.

Not bad for the BBC. The writing, cast and directing were all top notch. Tahar Rahim knocks it out of the park as usual as the grifter/psychopath/mickey slipper. I was equally impressed with Billy Howle as well. My only complaint about the series was the back and forth chronology. There are better ways to tell a story than playing Time Bandits for 8 hours.

PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

Just started watching this and I agree with you, the jumping back and forth in time was so, so annoying! Great acting thus far and what is so frightening is that it’s a true story! And yes, the BBC has done it again, made a great mini-series! We don’t seem to have those anymore in the USA nor a lot of period dramas which is a shame.

Gone with the Wind (1940)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

One of the wonderful stars of this movie passed away yesterday, July 25, 2020. At 104 years old, Olivia de Havilland took her final curtain call and bow. She was one of the most gracious and poised actresses of the 20th century. One of the last of the golden age of film; rest in peace Melanie….Olivia de Havilland.

It has been renewed for 2022 which I’m very glad about and can’t wait!

Vienna Blood (2019)
PonderThis 3 points 2 years ago.

IMDb says there are 3 episodes in 2021, Darkness Rising and The Devil’s Kiss, and Melancholy Countess. This is what I found, “Production on Season Two of Vienna Blood will begin in August 2020, shooting on location in Vienna in English, and once again starring Matthew Beard as Max Liebermann, and Juergen Maurer as Detective Inspector Oskar Rheinhardt. A premiere date for season two of the Vienna Blood series was not revealed.” A deep……I can’t wait……sigh goes here!

The Meg (2018)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

It wasn’t a bad movie and it did have some cringe moments but I would watch this any day over that stupid Sharknado! Which I’ve never watched and won’t be anytime soon! Okay, I found a huge glaring ooopps! Lori got injured and and object was protruding from the LEFT side of her abdomen. When she is brought back to the station the doctor said the object just missed her liver. Since when is the liver on the left side of the body?

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S4 E1

Am I the only one who had to re-watch the last episode of season 3 to remember what happened? But it’s finally here……where’s my popcorn and soda pop…..aww there it…gonna set back and enjoy this first new episode of the 4th season…..live long and prosper my fellow Trekkies!

CSI: Vegas (2021)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

I am looking forward to this and a bunch of new people to get to know! “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox are to return as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle in CSI: Vegas, a sequel to the original series of the TV phenomenon. The show has been given a straight-to-series order network CBS for later this year. Petersen and Fox will be joined by new co-stars Paula Newsome (Barry), Matt Lauria (Kingdom), Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth) and Mandeep Dhillon (After Life) as Grissom and Sidle’s colleagues.”

Star Trek: Picard (2020) S1 E5
PonderThis 3 points 4 years ago.

I knew I recognized Cristóbal Rios played by Santiago Cabrera from somewhere! He was the main character on Salvation which seems to have been canceled. Salvation isn’t really about space travel per say, but how interesting he would land on another space related drama. He was also on last seasons Big Little Lies.

1883 (2021) S1 E7
PonderThis 3 points 2 years ago.

I watched a lot of tv westerns because they were my daddy’s favorite. He might have liked this and I’m hoping more westerns make a return to the small screen! These new western are certainly 21st fare! No sugar coating either. The Big Valley, The Wild, Wild West, Bonanza, The Rifleman, Gunsmoke, The High Chaparral (starring some really great Latino actors), Wagon Train, The Virginian, and Rawhide starring Clint Eastwood were rather tame compared to the western are now made.

Lovecraft Country (2020)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

This sounds a bit like the movie Green Book and if you liked the movie maybe you’ll like this new drama. Got to make a note of it too. Looks like a lot of good dramas coming up for the fall.

Knives Out (2019)
PonderThis 3 points 4 years ago.

Nice little dramedy. Don Johnson seems to be good in anything he does (except for Sick Note, a British comedy). Daniel Craig’s range is unbelievable! Who knew he could pull off comedy but I found the southern drawl he adopted for this role annoying! Nice little who dunnit movie.

The Endgame (2022)

The Resident (2018) S5 E2

Emily VanCamp had asked to be released from her contract due to being pregnant. Hence her departure and she was one reason I watched this drama, but not sure how it will proceed without her. The first 2 episodes of this season seemed okay without her thus far and we shall see.

JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass (2021)
sobitthen 4 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Gets pretty interesting towards the end, they suspect our own CIA, and share evidence, they did this because JFK was not doing their bidding or starting any wars.. Being lied to by our own intelligence agencies because someone behind the scenes think they should wield the power.. was not aware of the Chicago or other cities where he was going to motorcade through had very similar assassination scenarios in place.. Wish there was something more official, or some way to weed that type of individuals out of places of power.. still so sad thinking back to that day and all the deceit public officials over the years told us about what happened that day..

PonderThis 2 points 2 years ago*.

I have this foggy memory of this day. I was barely 5 years old when he was killed and when Bobby was killed, I said to my mother why are they having another funeral for Kennedy. She said this is for his brother. Over the years I’ve thought that LBJ had something to do with Kennedy’s death. He did some very unsavory things along the way to become a powerful person in Washington DC. By the time I reached junior high school and read about the assassination, I had my doubts of how it happened, bullet from the building or from the grassy knoll. And the perplexing appearance of Jack Ruby. So many questions that may never be answered in our lifetime. And lets not forget Marilyn Monroe’s death and her ties to JFK…..

Hit & Miss (2012)
PonderThis 2 points 4 years ago.

I agree that there should have been a season 2 and can’t believe this drama was canceled! They left us hanging on the edge! At least Sky could have done a movie or a two part mini series to wrap this fine drama up!

Mortal Engines (2018)
PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago*.

This movie had me hooked in the very first scene! How clever! A roll-up city! Very creative mind behind this movie indeed! I do believe Hugo Weaving will always be typecast as an evil villain! I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play none other than a villain. I agree that this movie is like a Mad Max movie on steroids! Could there be a follow up movie? I hope so! Like how Shrike became to be a stalker and who is Hester’s father. I’ve never heard of this movie and it reportedly flopped at the box office losing 100 million…..which means no Mortal Engines II….deep sad sigh goes here

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

Okay, I’ve watched about 30 minutes and I feel that I’m missing a lot! I know there isn’t another Godzilla movie prior to this one with Kyle Chandler’s character in it. I’ll keep watching and maybe a little backstory will happen.

Do you have an ad blocker on your browser? If so, that could be the problem so disable it for the time being and see if the version you pick will open. You might also use a different browser like Chrome or the new version of explorer. I have many websites I use (similar to primewire) and I can’t get one of the browers to open the website on firefox but it will open in the new explorer. This happened after I allowed firefox to do upgrades. Sometimes after a few weeks, firefox will suddenly let me open the other movie/tv show sites to open.

Stephen King comes to mind after watching the 1st episode. Not sure if there is a British writer equivalent to Stephen King. But whomever wrote this might have been inspired by SK?

The Newton Boys (1998)

Perpetual Grace LTD (2019) S1 E1

Okay, I’m intrigued and yes, it is choked full of dark humor and reminds me a wee bit of Fargo. Irony runs rampant in both dramas and this one definitely has “binge watch” written all over it! 🙂☺️😁

Bergerac (1981)

I’m enjoying this, too. It’s fun to see John Nettles and Annette Badland in earlier roles. Not to mention the Guest Stars, who are actors of some renown now.

PonderThis 2 points 2 years ago.

Annette left the show I think in season 4 and of course no reason was given. Annette did pop up as a guest star on the new British drama Whitstable Pearl. If you’ve not watched, give it a go.

The Head (2020) S1 E6
PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Around the 3rd episode I thought to myself, she is Sarah’s daughter and I was right! I was thinking as I was watching this episode, I really didn’t think Arthur poked the hole in the fuel line. I’m still not sure why Ramon came after her and did he know she and Aki found the photos and is that why? Good drama with just enough scary parts to keep you on the edge of your seat. Clever girl how she set Arthur up too!

Dead Still (2020) S1 E6
Shade_Chylde 1 points 3 years ago*.

THIS was a show I truly enjoyed, and when I came back to watch the last 3 episodes, I saw that it was listed as “ended”. In the age of “Chrisely Knows Best” and stupidassed “Jersey Shore” spinoffs, it’s a DAMNED sad thing to see a show like this slip under the waves without a gasp after a single season… :(

PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

The series had been branded as a mini-series but although season 1 reveals the killer, there’s a lot more to be explored. Moreover, the show opened to good reviews from fans. Therefore, in spite of being a limited series, it holds the scope to span another season. If Acorn decides to bring back the show with a new edition, we can expect ‘Dead Still’ season 2 to premiere sometime in 2021…..keep those fingers crossed!

People have been on the train for 17 years and the tailies are feed protein gel bars (won’t tell ya what there made from). So how is it that Tanya (Octavia Spencer) is still carrying around a lot of weight? I’d say maybe someone else should have been cast as Tanya who weighed less.
