Brilliant, in a warped and twisted way. Great acting, excellent actors and fantastic ending.

Wow. Also, the asteroid exploitation is not only probable & believable, but it has refocused the series, which it needed badly. Really liked the Duke Ellington.

I agree, just in time for the ending of the season…….

Without giving any spoilers, reviews will strongly be affected by what is your personal belief system. Putting aside the right or wrong, I found this very powerful, with an excellent all star cast.

I bet he was really pleased to be able to pay the rent though. When you’re an actor a job is a job, look at some of the crazy parts de Niro has taken over the years, not to mention Bruce Willis! Work = a pay-check, so regardless, i’d say he was pleased to be on set and not on the dole! Thanks :))x

This film was made in cooperation with the survivors of the Rwandan genocide. A brutal and haunting film.

The era is dated, but the emotional response focusing on one family and their interaction with their community is powerful.

Leave the World Behind (2023)

Slow, but steady with tension building. Realistic progress of events with a likely conclusion if you are a kid. One star off for the ending. It kept me interested.

Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak (2009)
Birdsforme 2 points 5 months ago.

For anyone who ever read this author as a child or who read this author to his children, this is a very good documentary. He talks about his own personal death quite a bit, and I see he died three years after this film aired.

Iodine (2010)
Birdsforme 1 points 5 months ago.

This reminds me of a film school project. Amateur actors, a script that goes nowhere, endless philosophizing which is suppose to be the science fiction element. The main character is not clearly defined. He is either a guy high on drugs or a mental patient taking meds. Super low budget with only three actors, and a entra voice that may be one of the actors doubling as someone else.Watching grass grow would be more exciting.

Foe (2023)

So slow, and the script is awful.

The Garden: Commune or Cult (2023) S1 E1
AmieWarren 0 points 6 months ago.

The founder of the group was born and raised in the Rainbow Family. I don’t know why they left the old space, but I know it says several “Garden” groups have been set up across the country. This sort of smacks of the Rainbow Family under a different name.

I don’t know about murders, but the Rainbow Family camped in the Ocala National Forest near me once and completely trashed it. They left uncovered feces all over the place, tons of garbage and even abandoned tents. It cost Florida 10s of thousands to clean it all up. Now, to prevent large groups from camping there again, they’ve shrunk the available camping space to almost nothing and are giving out tickets for not removing your trash or using catholes for toilets. It used to be a great place where you could just drive around and find a remote, hidden place to camp and be all by yourself, but now, all campers are crammed together in small spaces.

Birdsforme 2 points 6 months ago.

From what you have said, I also would not want the group anywhere near any natural space I live. It is ironic in caring about the environment they would not take care of their own trash. This had not been my experience the few times I had been to the July gatherings and a few smaller meetings of groups that exist in the Philly area. At the gatherings in Arkansas and Montana they were very respectful of the space they used and left it pristine. Those living in Philly were well liked by their neighbors in the Mt. Airy part of the city. Perhaps the times I was around them, they were a different group. Since they claim no leaders there is no way for me to know. But, I do not doubt your experience as valid. Hopefully these people will get their act together, or at least not come to your natural spaces any longer.

The Garden: Commune or Cult (2023) S1 E2
AmieWarren 1 points 6 months ago.

From what I’ve seen, they definitely aren’t the brightest bulbs on the tree.

Birdsforme 1 points 6 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Oh, I agree with that. But, I do not think those who were involved in this video were a good representation of what the group as a whole has accomplished and is trying to achieve. The group allowing a documentary to be done as is shows lack of common sense when dealing with media and the mass conservative public.

The Garden: Commune or Cult (2023) S1 E2
Birdsforme 0 points 6 months ago.

More sensationalism, bickering and general conflict between two new people and the group who want them to leave. Free PR is bad PR, This group should be smart enough to know this.

The Garden: Commune or Cult (2023) S1 E1
Birdsforme 2 points 6 months ago.

Intentional communities have existed since 1500 BC. Some are religious based, some counterculture. The sensationalism of this video reminds me of overdramatazation that one finds in reality tv. If this group wanted a neutral documentary of their commune and intentions, this is not it. It is poorly done, Too much personal video of a few people with their conflicts with new people. This should have had a narrator along with every permanent member saying a bit of why they are there and what they do. It is ironic that this community got so much media attention. Not far away an self sustaining community existed since 1971 complete with their own school, band, vegie dairy and medical center. Look up “Steve Gaskin`s Farm”. Only after the founder died in 2014 did the community eventually change. However parts of it still exist today. It did not turn to media for attention, and did just fine. Also in the episode The Rainbow family was mention, but only in reference about one of the current members of this new community. The crime that is brought up in this episode refers to a crime committed in 2020. It was about a double murder of two women traveling to one of the annual Rainbow gatherings. Hitching rides can be dangerous no matter where one is going. To blame a group for this crime makes as much sense as blaming a Rock group for a murder that happened on the way to their concert. As I said, this documentary is poorly done and I think it will harm this group more then give it the positive notice it wants. Proving my point are the comments that have already been made here. Allowing this doc to be made without any editing rights is probably the worse thing this group did. The way it is presented, it will just feed the masses tendency to draw extreme opinions based on nothing but misinformation and drama.

Armageddon Time (2022)

A story about two school age boys from very different environments and economic backgrounds who become friends. Anthony Hopkins does a good job as Paul`s grandfather and all the cast are excellent.

So much going on, and episode over way too soon.

Feathers (2022)
Birdsforme 3 points 6 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This film is listed as a comedy. I just don’t see it. It also won a Cannes award, which totally baffles me.
The first thing I notice is how deplorable are the conditions these people are living. It’s not just the main family the story is about, but the whole area. It looks like a junkyard-war zone. This is suppose to be representing Egypt! It took me awhile to realize the main female character in story is not a servant, but the wife. The treatment of this women is appalling. During a birthday party for one of his sons the father-husband is turned into a chicken by a magician. The guy cannot figure out how to turn him back, so he stays a chicken. The woman applies to all sorts to try to magic her husband back. One scene is so disgusting I suggest if you watch this, don`t be eating. The story keeps going downhill as the woman with multiple children does not have the money to even keep her dump of a home. No giggles for me in this one. Other cultures must REALLY have a very different sense of humor. Do yourself a favor and just pass this up.

The Farmer's Wife (1928)
Birdsforme 1 points 6 months ago.

I neve saw a silent film before. I was amazed at the patience people had watching a very simple story. I could pretty much figure out where it was going to go from the beginning. The only thing that impressed me was the last ten minutes where the actors involved really did convey quite allot without words. So glad for all our choices today!

Past Lives (2023)

The story was very slow moving by American standards, but the intimacy conveyed was powerful.

Couple in a Hole (2016)
Birdsforme 2 points 7 months ago.

Weird, gross and disgusting. In my opinion also pointless. Do not eat if you are planning to watch this. ANIMALS ARE HARMED IN THIS FILM and there is plenty of visual and sound.

Beyond Existence (2022)
Birdsforme 2 points 7 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The description is so much more interesting then how the movie plays out. It is very low budget. There are few actors and none of them are well known. The animation is substandard. Over 90% of the movie is two people talking in a car. Almost no action, and what there is is fast and over in a flash. Not worth a watch!

Girl on a Bicycle (2013)
Birdsforme 3 points 7 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

At first I was disappointed because the style was like a Hallmark movie. But maybe because it was not from the US, it went farther than American shows. With the sex and language it was not G rated. It was refreshingly funny with a bit of a bite to it. Worth a one time watch.

Poison (Short 2023) (2023)
Birdsforme 0 points 7 months ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Ralph Fiennes who used to be leading man material looked really old. Ben Kingsley was not listed as part of the cast, but he was the doctor. I see this listed as a comedy, but I just did not find the skit all that funny, except for the scene with the patient dancing on the bed. The narrator talking that fast might be considered a talent, but I found it annoying.

Door to Door (2002)
Birdsforme 1 points 7 months ago.

For William Macy fans: This film is co written by William Macy and starting him in the role of Bill Porter. This is based on a true story about a man who is determined to be a door to door salesman, in spite of the fact that he has cerebral palsy. This film was nominated for multiple awards and won 14! The story was an excellent watch.

Stay (2014)
Birdsforme 1 points 7 months ago.

The actors did a good job playing their characters, but the story was so slow it put me to sleep twice.

No One Will Save You (2023)
Birdsforme 3 points 7 months ago.

It was more of a sketch of what happened before with lots of running, hiding fighting in the present till its’s conclusion. There really was not much of a story there or any character development. I would have probably been afraid of the chase scenes if I was a kid, not really watching it as an adult. It reminds me of an modern updated version of body snatchers with a cast of one. Definitely low budget

Star Watching Dog (2011)
Birdsforme 1 points 7 months ago.

If you ignore the first 15 minutes early on in the film, which is pure silliness, it is a touching and beautiful story and a tear jerker. I am glad I watched.

Anomalisa (2016)
Birdsforme -1 points 7 months ago.

This has got to be the worse animation I ever watched. The story was odd and not to my liking. Also, they must have had a shortage of people to do voices, because everyone sounded like the bellboy in the hotel….. the guys ex wife, the old girlfriend, his son all sound like the bellboy! I bailed on this one early.

Florence Foster Jenkins (2016)
Birdsforme 1 points 7 months ago.

The cast are seasoned actors and everyone plays their part well. The problem with the film is that once you get over the fact of the bad singing, there is not much there to hold attention. What is more interesting is that this is a true story and an extremely strange one. Foster-Jenkins and all the people who play major roles in the film are part of her story and can be seen on the pages of Wikipedia along with Foster-Jenkins`s life story. What I took away from the film was that enough money can can buy you fame, even without talent.
