Yeah, looks real good. DLing some eps now. I think all eps are dubbed now too.
I don’t understand why so many ppl diss dubbing. I care a lot less if their lips match (as long as the translation’s accurate) than having to read subs and keep switching my focus away from being caught up in the story. IMDB—7.5

Laura-GCHQ 2 points 2 years ago.

I don’t like dubbed movies either, but like you said, if the lips and audio are well synchronized, then i don’t mind. subtitles are the worst for me. You spend half the time trying to read and understand the subtitle and you end up missing important bits and pieces of the movie. It’s an no for me.
That said, bar Japanese (movies or anime) , i usually watch most movies in the original language, and if it’s not a language i understand, i just don’t bother.

The Tomorrow War (2021)
xlen 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The time travel kinda makes sense though, there are issues with it, but it defo isn’t the biggest issue, my biggest issue is that they didn’t make the deadly compound as a gas.
Then there was the issue that they had proof about the alien crash landing and yet they said they have none?!? and they don’t believe an officer who has been involved in command decisions in the future? He defo has more information than the military leadership about the enemy, so if he points out a possible location of the ship, their first priority should be to gather forces, find the ship and nuke it, at the end of the movie there was a lot of unnecessary blodshed, none of the people involved in execution phase of alien destruction should had died, in fact they probably shouldn’t had blown up the ship before getting some information off the computers of that ship, there’s obviously still fully functional systems if those aliens could survive a millenia.
if I ignore those things, this is my 2nd favorite movie of this year, behind killers wife’s bodyguard.

Laura-GCHQ 3 points 2 years ago.

I had questions like these too, but people say i think too much, that i should just turn off my brain and watch the movies that’s on offer. But is it too much to as for things to just make common sense fiction or not?

This is the kind of movie if you think too hard it ruins the movie.

Laura-GCHQ 2 points 2 years ago*.

This is something that’s hard for me to do because when you use fiction to go outside the boundaries of what’s real and currently possible (such as time travel), then you enter into the realm of unprecedented options of endless possibilities, so you should atleast use those options wisely.
But you’re probably right. I’m thinking too much. I tend to do that alot LOL…

It’s probably best this way. Waiting every week is damn annoying, but then binge watching the entire season 2 in one day is far worse for me because it’ll feel like I’ll have to wait an entire year again before getting the next dose of this 😓

Oh Yvonny Yvonny Yvonny, only a few days ago i was hating your @ss for the atrocities you perpetrated in The Handmaid’s Tale but today I’m feeling bad you died a horrible death in this movie.

I’m a sucker for anything time travel. This movie was Entertaining and all but honestly they could have done better. So in the future they have the technology to create time travel but they couldn’t develop and manufacture better weapons to kill those aliens and the best they could do is still automatic assault riffles? Even in this day and age humanity still has better weapons how much more 28years in the future? Also you had the possibility to travel 30years into the past and the best plan they could come up with is to recruit those who were already dead in the future? Shouldn’t they have spent the 30years researching and developing better weapons?

Fringe (2008)
ShugarCat 7 points 2 years ago.

What a thoroughly enjoyable watch. You are reeled in from the first episode and after a few initial character developing episodes the story takes off and soars such that each week outdoes the previous. The cast is exceptional and the writing flawless. This series is not only binge worthy it is high on the re-watch scale. Overall it is an exceptional production and I highly recommend it for anyone.

Laura-GCHQ 5 points 2 years ago*.

It’s everything you said and more. I’ve rewatched it every year since it ended. It never gets old for me.
Fox originally planned to make 10seasons of it but back then not many viewers watched Fringe directly from Fox. They used third party sites to download the episodes, others binge watched the entire seasons by downloading them from Torrentz sites. So when the viewership numbers dropped, Fox decided to pull the plug after season 3. But they also cared about the show and they couldn’t just let the story hang after season 3 so they sanctioned another 1 and a half season to wrap it up. This is why the 4th season seemed crunched and the 5th seems disjointed. But all in all we were grateful they gave us some sort of closure and they didn’t just cancel the show like they did many others back then. Someone from Netflix even said they would have revived the show had Fox cancelled it after season 3.
Anyway, here we are today 😂😂😂

Yep but I’m just not feeling it. The fight scenes are really boring because there are no stakes. I don’t know what groundwork they are doing but it’s not working. I think the MCU phase four is not going to work because the excitement is gone

Laura-GCHQ 3 points 2 years ago*.

The fight scenes aren’t just boring, it’s like they were choreographed by an amateur coordinator.
About phase 4 not working, i don’t really know about that, but what i do know is the MCU has done amazing things in the past with Marvel characters and stories nobody gave a rat’z @ss about until they were brought to the big screens, and they managed to pull it off. So I’d give them the benefit of the doubt for now. It’s just that it’d be hard to watch an avenger movie without Tony Stark or Steve Rogers in it.

4 episodes in and i still don’t know where i stand with this show. It’s been entertaining so far but I’m still wondering how they’re gonna wrap this up with just 2episodes left without making a mess of it all.
There are many unanswered questions and they’ve already done with the “Time Keepers” what they did with the “Mandarin” in Iron Man 3. I hope they give a better explanation because saying they are androids just don’t cut it given the stakes.

PS~ I’ll be really disappointed if the Loki we all know doesn’t leave the TVA with atleast one infinity stone. That would be doing his character a serious disservice. Considering how many infinity stones he saw, surely it would have crossed his mind to take some of them. They might not work there in the TVA, but in the real world they surely do.

Laura-GCHQ 2 points 2 years ago.

We’re on the same table. There’s alot of discontinuities and unaswered questions. There’s just 2episodes left which makes me wonder how they’re gonna wrap this up without making a mess of it all.
Well i suppose they’re trying to lay the ground work and back story for the next phase of the MCU movies one of which is “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness”.

The Handmaid's Tale (2017) S4 E10
CleoHarper 1 points 2 years ago.

To me it doesn’t matter if she comes around any more than when Negan tries to “fix” things with Maggie. Some things you just can’t come back from. I appreciate when they try to show different facets of a character but some people have such an evil side (IMO) that any pain they may have suffered, any attempt at goodness to balance out the bad, I just can’t care. Maybe the next person will, and good for them - but not me. Lydia’s always watched out for “Cyclops Girl” (ahem…Janine XD)…like a pet. I’ve often wondered what her motives are there. Honestly I hope they don’t use the self-sacrificing formula for this. I feel like she needs a more original demise. Or at least, a demise without redemption. :-)

Laura-GCHQ 3 points 2 years ago.

We are on the same page on this topic. Even Negan has better excuses than Aunt Lydia but like you said, once you cross that line, there’s no coming back.

The Handmaid's Tale (2017) S4 E10
etim 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I think Lydia’s starting to come around, after that incident with the cattle prod and the chewing out from all that. And look how she’s started being kind to and watching out for cyclops girl.
She’s ate up with the cause, fer sure, but she’s starting to show there’s a human in there somewhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up doing something heroic and self-sacrificing before it all ends.

Laura-GCHQ 3 points 2 years ago.

Lives have been lost, irreparable damages has been done to the few who managed to escape (still being done to those left behind), you can’t unring this bell or turn back the hands of that clock. At this point there’s no redemption for Aunt Lydia. I really don’t care what series of events happened in her past that made her who she became, she atleast had the option of choice back then and she could have changed her life whenever she wanted. If she was single and alone, that was her choice. If she had one too many disappointments and heartbreaks, she isn’t the first to experience those either, we all have. If her religious beliefs and sentiments cause her pain and disappointments, again that was her choice. She has no excuse.
I seriously hope Karma “wines and dines” with her with a feast meant for a thousand in Season 5.

I think Fred got off easy. He doesn’t even deserve a quick death. He shoulda been lynched, castrated and then left alive in Gilead which he helped build, to be humiliated and then finally put on the wall.

The Handmaid's Tale (2017) S4 E10
CleoHarper 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

So very well said! But I think I hate Aunt Lydia more than Serena. Serena’s just weak. Aunt Lydia literally hates her own gender. My grandmother was like that. I feel bad for your girlfriend, but also a little jealous: I’ve watched so much disturbing crap that things like this show hardly ever faze me. However there are things once seen you’d do anything to un-see and it sounds like she probably sleeps a lot better than I do at night. Fred seriously should have been turned into Gilead. While I enjoyed seeing him up on the wall the physical torture isn’t really fitting punishment. I wish his punishment was more psychological; being turned over to the monster he created would have been HIS worst nightmare. The humiliation, the shame, the loss of all power and esteem, feeling helpless as all his peers turn their backs in disappointment, and finally watching someone else raise his child before being put on the wall himself - that I think would have been much worse for him. It almost feels as if he got off light to me. However, I don’t think it’s his kid. I think Serena was banging the CIA rep. I really want to see that kid taken away from Serena.

Laura-GCHQ 3 points 2 years ago.

My girlfriend Alice is a softie. Even the disney animated movie “Coco” made her cry alot, lmao…
I am alot like you. I’ve experienced and seen too many crap i wish i can unsee, but we know reality doesn’t work that way. So stuffs like these doesn’t faze me anymore, although the thought of having my rights, liberty and freedom of choice being stripped, and then forced into servitude as a sex worker or a handmaid is a bit frightening.
I’m seriously hoping Serena’s baby is taken away from her. The ultimate punishment for her would be watching from the sidelines while someone else becomes the mother of her kid.
I really have no words for Aunt Lydia. She’s too old to serve as a Handmaid, putting her on the wall would be an easy escape. I can’t even think of a befitting punishment for her. Perhaps a very slow, tortuous and painful death at the colonies.

Just found out that this one has been CANCELLED!!!!
Hoping it gets a new home!

Laura-GCHQ 2 points 2 years ago.

You can’t have 3seasons of a show and still don’t have a clue of what’s happening. The normal progression of most shows of a similar genre is “introducing new or bigger problems and questions while answering old ones”, this show didn’t do that. The writers didn’t even know what direction they want to take it in. Too many plot holes and unanswered questions and they eventually made it stale.

Manifest (2018)
Laura-GCHQ 1 points 2 years ago.

Really had high hopes for this show at first, but it kept getting really disappointing and ridiculous the more it went on. Its almost as if the writer and show runners don’t have an idea of what direction they wanted to take this in. Too many plot holes, barely any explanation, disappointing dialogues and boredom fest. The entire 3seasons could have been summarised into just 5episodes and you still won’t miss anything.

Manifest (2018) S3 E12
Laura-GCHQ 2 points 2 years ago.

Finally this got cancelled. The show runners think it’s enough to spend an entire season going in cycles with alot of plot holes and disappointing dialogues, then make the last 10minutes awesome and automatically that’ll get them renewed for the 4th season. Jokers.

Superman & Lois (2021) S1 E11
gdrich8856 0 points 2 years ago.

I’ve been watching everything Superman since George Reeves in the 50’s (yes, I know how old that makes me), through Smallville, Lois & Clark, all the movies, etc. This is by far the weakest effort. Bitsie Tulloch shines, but then again, she is used to saving mediocrity (Grimm). All in all, not bad just mediocre.

Laura-GCHQ 2 points 2 years ago.

I couldn’t agree more if i wanted to. Even smallvile was shabby towards the end but still miles ahead of this.

LMAO. This is Superman, so of course i know it’s all fiction, but is it too much to ask for it to atleast make a little sense? And this DC folks just keeps changing the back story whenever it suits them. His mom had another kid before him, sent him to earth blah blah blah in smallvile it was his mom having an affair with Zor El her husband’s brother the father of Supergirl. So so and so. Bs.

The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
Red Sky 5 points 2 years ago.

It’s only technically fictional in the sense that it hasn’t happened exactly like it’s portrayed; everything in it has happened somewhere, and not only could it easily happen in America, most of it already has

Laura-GCHQ 4 points 2 years ago.

Sadly you’re right. History both far and recent is littered with very similar occurrences. Even in this present day, the PRC’s treatment of the Uighur Muslims is one example.

The Handmaid's Tale (2017) S4 E10
UGuess 3 points 2 years ago.

Mannnn your last sentence is sooo true, hate to admit it (SMH)-The only thing that keeps me PARTLY sane is knowing we all will one day stand before Yah to face judgment for everything we have, haven’t done and allowed. SB: Do hope your friend gets better soon though.

Laura-GCHQ 4 points 2 years ago*.

I also believe we’ll all face judgement at some point. But like June said, “weak men makes the world go round”, the statement is spot on. These said weak people do all sorts of nasty things to other people and they mostly get away with it. They lie, cheat, exploit others and abuse their status and position in society and end up hurting a lot of people in the process. So while I might believe these aforementioned “weak men” will eventually stand judgement in a spiritual court, I earnestly hope they’ll experience a physical day of reckoning where karma bites them in the a$$ and gives those they hurt a front row seat.

PS-
My girlfriend is fine now, though she still can’t fathom or comprehend my decision to continue watching the show. So I told her I’ve found new appreciation for freedom of choice and liberty as a woman because of the show. Her response: Atleast something good came out of it…

The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
Laura-GCHQ 8 points 2 years ago*.

This show isn’t for the faint of heart. Also if you like to see big explosions this probably isn’t for you. It’s slow and amazing but also nerve wrecking and emotionally crushing. There’s alot of “WTF” did i just watch moments that leaves you petrified if not emotionally scarred. After much cajoling and convincing my girlfriend to give it a try, she still couldn’t survive beyond episode 2 of season 1. I found new appreciation for freedom of choice as a woman after watching this.

I know this is fictional and it happens in a dystopian society but if given the conditions and our reality does present the same problems there would be people who would actively advocate for the implementation of the same solutions as Gilead did.
Giving this show 5/5 rating doesn’t even come close to what it truly deserves.

The Handmaid's Tale (2017) S4 E10
Laura-GCHQ 7 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

This show really isn’t for the faint of heart. I managed to convince my girlfriend to give it a try and she said she’s been scarred for life and can’t unsee what she saw in the first 2 episodes of season 1. Had she binge watched the entire series up to the end of season 3, I wonder how she’d have reacted because the capitol incident took place barely a week after she attempted to watch this show. Even i freaked out.

This episode was nerve wrecking. I can only imagine the pain she’s had to deal with while those who didn’t experience what she and the other women went through just expects them to move on and act like nothing happened. Ok, now you’re out, you’re safe, we’ve heard you, sorry about what happened to you. Alright it’s time to move on.

I was super pissed when the deal to grant Fred and Serena immunity was made. I really would have stopped watching this show had he actually made the trip to Geneva.
What’s sad is i work in the intelligence community and i know and have seen this shit happen alot behind the scene. Anyway, for what it’s worth, i think fred got only a fraction of what he actually deserves, but considering the alternative, I’ll take this jungle justice, and i hope they reserve the grand prize for the gender traitor called Serena. I keep saying the biggest problem we have as women isn’t men but other women.

Seriously?
So they’re implying Superman and those weak @$$ half converted Kryptonians can release the energy that equates to the plantet’s sun? Really? CW really? Let’s say we buy that stupid explanation, how did a bunch of humans falling from the sky all ended up lying on the ground without serious injuries or death? Well i suppose its too much to ask for the laws of physics to be obeyed or just logic or common sense when we already accepted the bs that changing consciousness automatically translate to altering the human physiology.

These days, you’ll have to actually turn off your brain just to be able to watch what’s available.
