The Light Between Us (2020)
SnakePliscan 2 points 3 years ago.

Funny for me the character that i wanted to connect with at the beginning of the film got back in the car and drove away, i didn’t the like the main character and bailed. I guess for me if i’m not hooked in the first 10 minutes i just might jump ship.

Bosch (2015) S1 E1
SnakePliscan 2 points 2 years ago.

Suspension of disbelief and the description of trauma on a kid combined with the viewers imagination can conjure up some pretty disturbing emotions but then that’s what a show like this is supposed to do, personally i couldn’t take it and moved on…..

6/5✨
I reeeeeally like this one! Extremely poignant subject matter! And definitely one of my favorite categories of consideration. Especially the way that the ending is up to the viewer. I like that there is some hope in it. Let’s be honest. We, AS A SPECIES, have a very misguided, and deluded understanding of ourselves. We are an, essentially, instinctually… and subconsciously driven species (aside from the more complicated, and arguable aspects of our natures). But… most of us spend our lives, denying those very drives. And replacing them with a fantasy awareness of self, tempered by emotional states, which are basically “illogical (as Spock once elegantly put it. Lol). Some, more than others… and some, wayyyy more than others. So, our evolution, and our survival, are fundamentally driven, by the whims of these processes. Processes, which we invest most of our precious energy and time, ignoring. So, maybe a little logic, is just what we need. What KIND of logic? Well, that’s the real stumper. It’s only natural, that we be somewhat fearful… of the myriad ways, in which this change, may occur. But, I promise you this. If we don’t wake up soon, there will be nothing left to salvage. And… we’ll likely never even learn the answers to these many questions. Until we can face the more abstract, and self-destructive aspects of ourselves… We might as well be playing “Russian Roulette.” Except, we don’t even know where the trigger is, or even which part is a bullet. And I… firmly believe that isn’t a single human ON THIS EARTH, who COMPLETELY understand the Human state of existence. Or, whether that is actually as tangible a thing, as some may want us to believe. But… I know that if we allow cold, manipulative… and greedy Autolaters (C.E.O. types, or their bosses), to determine the futures (if time even, actually, does exist) of our descendants, we don’t stand a chance. Because people like that, don’t even have the ability to care for their OWN best interests. Much less, the entire species. The majority of them, anyway. And… let’s face it. THAT is who now controls OUR destiny, or fate, or future… or whatever you’d like to call it. Because, as a species, we’ve been taught to escape our emotions. And to belie… our instincts, as intellect. Or, as some abstract sixth sense (which I, personally, believe is real. But not “traditionally” tangible to most) So, you… tell me.
Where ARE we headed???

SnakePliscan 2 points 1 month ago.

We are headed to annihilation, there is no god and this is the outcome for each individual, so why not the entire human race as well ?
Accept that life is pointless and you won’t have to worry about any a the stuff u mentioned….

Official Secrets (2019)

I was busy working at the time, so i wasn’t up to speed on the politics, i do remember thinking WMD’s was BS, and then Colin Powell lied to the world, it was pretty friggin disgusting, this movie shows an even more insidious side to US foreign policy. GW Bush is a real piece work!

The blonde chic has this big thing and its total bs man, the acting is great but what a screwball story ! enjoy.

My Old Lady (2014)

Actually the apartment comes with a lot more than an old lady, its rather fascinating to watch this character discover things about himself and his family.

Katla (2021)

Definitely a slow burner, lots a time ta mull over what’s going on, think waaay outside the box and you will already have some idea of what’s going on as all is revealed.

Honour (2020)
Zolleverin 2 points 3 years ago.

Well, It happens in India too. There are a couple of cases every 6 months so. Its more to do with that conservative mentality of ‘What will people think if my daughter/son marries him/her. My own kid is defying the upbringing I gave. I will rather end this than watch them together’.

SnakePliscan 2 points 3 years ago.

Yeah when people talk or think like that you just know the indoctrination is deeply hard-wired in, its scary and sad!

Secret Admirer (1985)
SnakePliscan 2 points 5 years ago.

“Some Kind of Wonderful” could be a remake of this film, an improvement over this. The acting wasn’t too bad but the adults were ridiculous. As a teen romp it was goofy and amusing in a flashback kinda way.

Blind Spot (2008)
SnakePliscan 2 points 2 years ago.

Interesting how at one time this was all people talked about and then technology made it a forgotten footnote in history, today we are at the same crossroad and the propaganda machine is pumping a different narrative, what technology will save us this time ?

Anything (2018)
SnakePliscan 2 points 5 years ago.

This is a great movie, i think it asks the question, are there any limits to the possibilities of human love ? This movie packs a lot into a limited amount of time, each scene moves the piece forward to one heck of an ending.

Stockholm, Pennsylvania (2015)

This flips the conventional wisdom about this sort of thing on its head and asks the viewer to see another perspective and then throws a twist into that, heart wrenching in parts and then that ending ? enjoy.

Having watched this many times i would have to describe it as a audio visual masterpiece, some highly talented people came together and created something drenched in passion and emotion. Even the 1973 Chevy Malibu is a cool and integral character in the film.

Watching this reminds me of one of Einstein’s sayings; Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.
Now one of the perpetrators of mass incarceration is poised to lead the country, will he carry his legacy forward or abandon failed programs of the past? This movie really raises so many questions about what is right and wrong and what are real answers to building a better society. Powerful drama with great interviews.

To the Stars (2020)
SnakePliscan 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Some really good acting here, i’m not sure the story makes sense entirely concerning people’s motives, some of the actions taken by characters is religion drivin and i wonder if political correctness has muted the writing to not even mention it ? Someone in their 20’s would be doing a head scratcher on this one as the behavioral context of some events are scarcely implied, Weird!

Ammonite (2020)

Mary Anning is a fossil. She’s dark, muddy, rough. She’s unassuming yet exploited. She is exceedingly difficult for most people to understand. And anyway, they don’t take the time to even try. She takes daring to obtain, hours of work to reveal, a certain knowledge to understand, and her ultimate value is incalculable.
Along comes Charlotte. She learns to hunt for, discover, and care for fossils. One in particular.
(Nothing says historic lesbian drama like a dimly lit film with precious little dialogue. If Winslet and Ronan don’t get best actress nominations for their work in this, I quit.)

SnakePliscan 2 points 3 years ago.

Do you think Mary will ever say “I love you”

Ingrid Goes West (2017)

Ya this transits from weirdly logical to down right messed up and Aubrey Plaza carries it off very well, def worth a watch.

On Chesil Beach (2018)
SnakePliscan 2 points 5 years ago.

Someone else gave this a 1 where i gave it a 5, its that kind of movie, some will see it as a tragedy others just won’t care. The Movie unfolds normal enough and then it starts to show signs of cracks under the plaster, there’s a hint of something sinister and we begin to examine the characters more closely. Acting is top shelf and these two really deliver a memorable performance.

I am no way planning in watching this movie in anyway I dont want FBI coming to break down my door LOL. But seriously who legit thought this movie was in anyway a good Idea. Who funded this movie Jared from Subway?

SnakePliscan 2 points 3 years ago.

1981x it was someone who wanted to educate the ignorant, we still have a long way to go before we can say we are evolved. There are places where adults mutilate little girls genitalia and that is considered acceptable, Cuties doesn’t even move the needle compared to all the other stuff you chose to ignore !!!

My Days of Mercy (2019)
SnakePliscan 2 points 5 years ago.

The two leads have a real chemistry together and it carries the film nicly, they don’t speak their feelings for each other, they show it with body language, it was fascinating to watch and as real as it gets. It’s kind of a weird juxtaposition but the other story here with this romance is people throughout the state waiting to be executed on death row, both characters are heavily invested there and it twists the emotions. Five stars ! enjoy.

Andover (2018)

I liked it but then i like twisted characters so there’s some weird stuff happens and it’s pretty entertaining.

The To Do List (2013)
SnakePliscan 2 points 5 years ago.

I thought this was funny, Aubrey Plaza brings her own unique style to this and she’s fun to watch. I was a little hesitant to fire this up but once this starts rolling its worth your time, the 3 girl friends the mom the sister even the dad they all add to the story and bring in some different elements. There are a couple scenes with the dad and his daughters that were funny in a twisted way. enjoy.

Ammonite (2020)
SnakePliscan 2 points 3 years ago*.

I had no idea this was inspired by a real person so i viewed it more as a imaginary character study, the actors were amazing and the film had a real mood about it, i found the story quite interesting in the way it reimagined this characters life.

No Country for Old Men (2007)

The mob guy in this film is relentless, his determination is almost in a twisted way to be admired.

So much media now is propaganda, this film is a propaganda piece and i guess its only fair that the right have a voice too, Dinesh D’Souza is extremely articulate and is a true wordsmith when it comes to commenting on politics and politicians. This film pulls out all the stops on Dinesh D’Souza’s narrative, so be prepared, enjoy.

The whole split personality sick twisted creepy psychopath has been done to death and in the shadow of Silence of the lambs the genre tries to out sick itself and set a new higher bar …. but in the end its just more grotesque and i ask myself, was this entertainment or a parasite sucking out an emotional response ? Ya so good movie eh !

I can’t believe I forgot about this movie. I used to watch it over and over when I had it on VHS. What a treat. It is one of the best Brooks movies ever, while nothing compares to Terms of Endearment but it’s close. What an amazing cast too. Just what I needed for a rainy day with not much to do. TGIF

The part where someone asks him how he is so good at writing the women’s roles , his answer , i thought what now did he just say !?!? had ta rewind it and yup thats what he just said ! characters who talk without a filter can be quite amusing.

Waitress (2007)
SnakePliscan 1 points 4 years ago.

How can a film about a chick who makes pies at a diner have a tasty filling ? but it does and it’s funny! The three waitress in this are super lovable and Jeremy Sisko once again nails down the narcissist psycho type and the ending comes around to make perfect sense.
