#Alive (2020)
booger 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

A decent zombie flick, not quite good enough to be mediocre, but still watchable.
Obviously a low budget film, although it does not have the feel of one, it suffers only from backward leaps in logic, continuity errors, a need of more action and the over used hollywood trope of last minute rescue.

The Craft (1996)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Great movie! Decent amount of action with plenty of thrilling drama.

While some ‘christens’ were and still are triggered by this movie, the overiding message this movie deals with is personal acountability and responsibility for ones actions and behavior.
As for realism goes, I personally have witnessed basically this exact behavior sans magical powers.

Accident, Suicide or Murder (2019)

booger 2 points 4 years ago.

Stranger things have happened.
I remember a shooting in the small town where I grew up that was ruled to be a suicide, despite the 15 entry wounds, 9 of which were in the back, from an 8 shot pistol.
Of course it was the early 80’s and he was rumored to work for the Cartel.

Dredd (2012)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Just got through watching a very harsh review of this on YT and it reminded me of why I like it so much.

Paradise Z (2020)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

An almost decent movie this is. However, a lack of money/vision/coherency got in its way.
For some reason this movie had an almost realistic view towards post-apocalyptic life and then it abandoned it for barely fleshed out plot line deravations, brief nudity and b-roll.
Action does not start till more than halfway through and if there was actual horror in it, I musta sneezed.

Bruce Almighty (2003)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Not Carey at his best, but still worth a few laughs.
I remember watching this on HBO with a couple of friends years ago and enjoying it a lot more than I did today. Maybe it was the alcohol or maybe the people I was with, but it just seemed funnier back then.

The Venture Bros. (2003)

I am going to use a word that I rarely (if ever) use to describe TV shows, ‘Pure Genius’. ‘nuff said

NOVA (1974) S48 E4

Wonderful mini-series, these Beyond the Elements episodes. Reminds me of Mr. Wizard.

what a wonderfully accurate title.

Good story, Great acting. Watch this!

Going to Pot: The Highs and Lows of It (2021)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

Not a bad documentary told in a question-and-answer style that asks mostly mundane stoner questions but doesn’t shy away from more serious one.

His Girl Friday (1940)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

Fast paced dialog, all-star cast and a compelling story made this film the start of a lifelong love of Romcoms.

Walter: Well well… how long is it?
Hildy:
How long is what?
Walter:
You know what… how long is it since we’ve seen each other?

Recently watched this with a friend for the 1st time in decades and I gotta say it was even better now than then.

booger 2 points 5 months ago.

You mean some obsessed fan thought that if time travel was possible they could go back and shop their own script around and sell it for a bundle. So they spent years, decades even, of their life dedicated to inventing a time machine, finally doing it and traveling back only for this movie to be the end result? That’s both Diabolical and tragic.

Colony (2016)
PsychoMan 8 points 3 years ago.

I remember Watching as the episodes came out & Making Sure I was home To watch every Episode, its awesome & I saw a link for Falling Skies, both this Series & Falling Skies are both awesome series’s

booger 2 points 3 years ago.

yup, another great show canceled before its time. It wasn’t the the most original of shows but it was very entertaining.

Sweet Tooth (2021) S1 E2
booger 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The child in me likes this it has adventure and stuff. The jaded adult points out that the time and resources needed to keep sweet corn viable would be far better utilized in a more efficient and climatized crop. Not to mention that without Nixtamalization corn (maize) is pointless and potentially dangerous.

Wrath of Man (2021)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Great Film! While this movie won’t win awards for originality or anything like that, it will keep you riveted until the very end.

Battlefield Earth (2000)
Yellowbeard 3 points 4 years ago*.

Honestly, battlefield earth is a fine book - but there’s 1300 pages of it. They would’ve needed at least a trilogy to do it justice, they left out a lot of genuinely funny and cool things to fit it into a single movie. This version bombed so hard it’ll be a long time before any studio touches it again.

booger 2 points 4 years ago.

Never have been a Huge fan of hubbard but I really enjoyed this movie and as for the other things he created and did with that fantastic mind of his, well, let’s just say I find them entertaining.

Vagrant Queen (2020)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

Funny!
This irreverent and campy comedy has me hooked!
I usually try to give any new series at least 3 eps. before I pass judgment but this one did not need it!
Does this have a lot of cheese? YES, but the ooey, gooey, stretchy kind that enhances what it’s put on rather than overwhelm it.
WARNING FOR DELICATE PALETTES
Except for the far too overdone sci-fi trope of the aliens using metallic chopsticks to eat with this episode was perfect.

The Prince (2021)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

It says comedy in the genre section yet it has none….perhaps I missed something?

The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Luvlinguae 3 points 4 years ago.

The film was intentionally filmed in the original languages of the day, Latin and Aramaic. There is no “English version”.

booger 2 points 4 years ago.

Yes, this is true. There is no “English version” because of ‘artistic reasons” or some such.
Although Greek would have been spoken far more than latin at the time, I understand that latin was chosen most probably because this story is told from the perspective of what the Romans chose to highlight instead of the actual recorded events.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
booger 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Cam copy is very good for a cam. Camera position is good, audio is real decent with few distracting visual/audio artifacts (audience noise, shadows etc.)
While the storyline is not exactly original it does tie into the first film nicely and instead of a reboot you get a good sequel.

The Last of Us (2023) S1 E3
booger 2 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

While this was a beautiful episode that did a deep dive into the lives of a pair of characters that have a substantial impact upon the characters Joel and Ellie and their journey across post-apocalypse America, it does very little to advance the story overall.
I do like developed characters in my stories but to spend the majority of an episode to entirely flesh out characters unto their death seems like the typical “padding” U.S. shows have become known for.
They could have easily reduced the whole romance thing down to the few minutes they gave the actual story and expanded the storyline by an entire episode, just sayin’.

I am sorry for misunderstanding, it’s sometimes hard to discern a person’s sincerity via post/text lol. extends hand for a shake

Because I forgot to add a qualifier, no one had actually misunderstood what was written, so no need to apologize for that, it was my mistake for not proofreading.

Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

Great Action flick with strong supernatural elements.
Fun for the whole family! I believe this was rated PG when it came out.

Infini (2015)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Not bad. A bit more in the psychological thriller department than I wanted but still plenty of action.

Wolf (2019)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

Decent movie. I enjoyed it.
Yes, there could have been more action and yes there could have been better FX and editing etc. But if you focus on the negative you will miss out.

The Rookie (2018) S3 E4
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Wow, this ep. hit closer to home than I thought it would. You can’t force people to change, heck, you cannot really even convince them to. Real, lasting change, can only occur when that person decides, period. Hence the old saying ‘You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make ‘em drink.’

First Contact: An Alien Encounter (2022)

I’m not convinced that there is ANY intelligent life in the universe.

I agree. Are we Intelligent? or do we just think we are?

Peninsula (2020)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Good movie!
Like a lot of good zombie/post-apocalyptic films, this focuses more on the personal story of those involved and less on the gore.
Not that gore is lacking, it is just not the driving focus of the film.
3 outta 5 because there could have been a lot more action, but it’s still an enjoyable ride!

The Nevers (2021) S1 E1
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Very entertaining! This scifi/supernatual show starts with the standard mix bag of characters (as has been the trend) and delivers a solid piece of viewing pleasure. Action/drama/suspence…well, there is a lot here to enjoy.
Prepare to suspend your disbelief, while you enjoy this latest offer from HBO.

Deputy (2020)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

I am enjoying this slightly over the top and not quite realistic cop show.
Of course the reason I watch TV and Movies is for their over the top unreality .

The Watch (2021) S1 E1
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Not a bad first episode. Could use more of that Pratchett practical nonsensical nonsense humor but it’s early yet.

Money Plane (2020)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Is this entertaining? Yes Is this edge of your seat action and suspense? No
Perfect for a lazy afternoon or while busy making dinner, you can expect to be lulled to sleep or be somewhat entertained, depending on the situation.

Lovecraft Country (2020) S1 E1
booger 2 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine titled “Common Sense” inspired many british subjects to reject the monarchy and seek self rule.
What does this have to do with this show? Not that much really.
So why bring it up? Well …….because common sense is something that Everybody has (or most anyways) yet not everyone uses.
Take the 1st episode in this series for example. Some might think this might be some “Hollywood Conspiracy” to control our thoughts and feelings and confuse people as to the Reality of the circumstances faced by non-white AMERICANS during the time this is set in.
Unfortunately it is more ‘par for the course’ than hyperbole.
So, Can Hollywood control peoples minds? Only if they let them, it takes a conscious effort to agree/disagree with another persons perception.
Am I some kinda of guru/sage/senpai? nope, just a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PsnxDQvQpw

Eternals (2021)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

Decent cam copy with no shaking and no discernible background noise (popcorn munching, audience noise) and shot from a good angle/position 3/5.
Storyline was, again, decent imo. (The Eternals were never my favorite)
Action seemed ok but there could have been more.
Overall a fairly solid 3/5 stars.

Without Remorse (2021)
booger 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

As a standalone movie unrelated to the novel, this is a solid B movie. It has some sappy dialog and overused plot elements but is a decently entertaining watch.
As the predecessor to a gritty and violent novel that asked some hard questions, this movie is a dismal failure. There have been a slew of “Govrnment Conspiracy” movies made before and after the book came out and I doubt this would make into the top 100.
I don’t mind the PC stuff, T.V. and movies have always been influenced by whatever was currently trending and they always will.

Forged in Fire (2015)
nikkimckelvy 1 points 5 years ago.

I really like this show, but I really wish they would do an episode on forging weapons for ladies. In the Middle Ages in Europe and the Middle East women would have beautiful daggers made (gold and gemstones) and in Japan, female assassins would use the Japanese fans to kill their targets. I don’t think one episode geared towards women’s uses of daggers, knives, swords, and fans would go amiss.

booger 2 points 4 years ago.

While I am sure that an episode or more dedicated to the weapons of famous female Warriors would be just as enjoyable as any other, I’m afraid that I agree with BladesofTroy when he says that there would have been little to no distinction between what a woman carried to War as opposed to a man.
Those gold and gemstone encrusted daggers you speak of were worn by ALL nobility (Not just Women) and just about anyone else who could afford them, with their functionality being more on the order of ‘Hey look what I can afford to waste money on’ and less about practicality.
Japanese War fans were a thing the Samurai class trained in and used, also both female and male.

The Fly (1986)

Night of the Creeps (1986)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

I loved this movie as a kid and I still love it today!
Good acting and inovative storytelling makes for a novel approach to the Zombie horror genre.
I wish that that folks still had the imagination and the will to break out of the humdrum, same ‘ol same ‘ol type of film making and try something like this.
But, alas, everybody is too busy placating the whiners and the whingers to make something new.

SAS: Red Notice (2021)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Fairly average, low budget, made for TV movie. Overall, I give it a ‘meh’.

The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)
booger 2 points 1 year ago.

Pretty good mini-series overall. Likeable and relatable characters, a clear and defined story, with beautiful scenery and well executed cgi, makeup, sets, clothing, et cetera were combined well and filmed. By no means a masterpiece but very enjoyable.
This is a very efficient storytelling style and one I appreciate after so many American style series where they “pad out” their seasons to match the number some clueless exec came up with.

Forged in Fire: Beat the Judges (2020)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Will be interesting to see!

Outside the Wire (2021)
booger 2 points 3 years ago.

Not a bad movie. Plenty of action, drama, etc. A lot of movies/tv shows tend to linger on certain moral/ethical/emotional etc. questions overmuch, but this movie asks and answers what it wants, then moves on. Bit of a let down at the end, but that might just be me.

National Lampoon's Animal House (1978)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

My father actually took my older brother and me to see this at the drive-in when I was only 7 years old.
Raunchy humor is found throughout this film, gleefully portrayed by the actors.

                   !!!PARENTAL WARNING!!!

Foul language, alcohol and illicit drug use, physical violence and gratuitous partial nudity can be found here. And worst of all there is a free-thinking hippy professor who is probably the cause of all mischief and whatnot.

The Hateful Eight (2015)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

Not everyone has seen a Tarantino movie and I was merely trying to convey the main appeal in a concise way.
Had no idea (or maybe just forgot) about the foot thingy.
No idea who Lisa watshername is.

Heavy Metal 2000 (2000)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

This movie was supposed to be based on the American version of Métal hurlant a french comic anthology that I loved and was called “HEAVY METAL” magazine in America.
Although the original 1981 movie “Heavy Metal” still remains my favorite with its anthology structured theme (like the OG) this movie still does the job.
So……..do I find this movie as good or better than the first? NO…Do I Find this movie entertaining! Damn Straight I do!
I am going to try my best to download this copy and add it to my collection since my original copies have severely decayed.
