Not bad for a short film but I felt a little cheated at the end to be honest. All that build up for that? 3/5
TX2Guns's comments
I had read about this series while it was in production on the Killing times and the premise and location (Senegal/Darkur) sounded promising, however the slick French (Canal) production and exotic locale were not enough to hold this one together. As a general rule, I am a fan of crime/supernatural hybrids if the story and writing is solid (Jordskott comes to mind) but unfortunately the writing only holds water for a few episodes before the entire ball of wax takes a goofy turn. Combine this with some hit and miss acting and really BAD camera work (I got dizzy in parts) and this is yet another series I will forget about after I hit Submit. (FYI: Had to grab English subs since all the links were in French, but no problem).
Was a great watch and really smooth acting on Bill Nighy´s part. Thanks!
Yeah I will watch anything he does, check out one of his lesser known roles:

If you like Foreign Historical Crime series, check this one out, A really well crafted script with amazing set’s and costumes.
As I was re-watching Nic Pizzolatto’s AMAZING First season of True Detective, I was reminded that South Louisiana is the place where crime writers (such as James Lee Burke) like to mine their gritty narratives. If you want to watch two amazing true Crime Docs to verify this, start with this one and then try this one: https://www.primewire.ag/tv/142147-watch-killing-fields
I am typically a sucker for a good WW2 Historical drama, but even with Pacino this was a tough watch. The woman that played Axis Annie could not act her way out of a Junior High musical and the pace was on par with watching paint dry. Ouch.
Rust Cohle once again shows us the way: Everybody needs a foot locker with an AK, grenades and a fifth of Jameson’s in it.
It’s honestly hard to get sold on this series when the goofy factor keep being multiplied. I mean we go from having a claustophobic civilian cop with PTSD on a nuke sub to there being a reactor incident? (the most over-used trope in modern sub movie history) The cover-up/conspiracy angle is getting played out as well, I mean seriously, if you wanted to cover something up like this why invite a friggin nosy civilian cop onboard? And if all that wasn’t enough we find out this detective left her husband to die in a car accident and then to show her appreciation, turned into a lesbian? Wow. Yeah this series is a hot mess.
Really well done documentary on one of the four CIA Directors who served in the OSS and was also a Jedburgh. 4/5
Well done French Crime Series.
For another one along the same line try Black Spot (Zone Blanche)

The standoff between Chief and Bosch was classic. “Motherf*cker get out!” Damn!
Really well crafted series based on True events. Mark Addy and Stephen Graham do a really good job.
This is an outstanding and eminently watchable miniseries, and so well-acted. If I remember correctly, the fellow who played Stannis Baratheon on GOT plays Thomas Jefferson.
Chris Lang (creator of Unforgotten) did a bang up job on Season 1 and Season 2 looks to be of the same quality.
One of the grittiest prison movies from the late 70’s. Not for the feint of heart.
Nauseating.
Here’s the movie based on this woman’s fabricated story.

All in all I can’t say the series was fantastic. Stylistically it was really well done, but the writing and characters were just all over the place with not much to invest in. Let’s see if Season 2 improves.
Not a bad start. Gritty and raw drama series with an interwoven storyline with some decent actors.
Authentic Cold War series; they nailed the drab iron curtain feel. The writing and characters are a bit complex and combined with the jumping timeline this is definitely one you need to pay attention or you will get lost fast.
Unbalanced is the only word that comes to mind for this Doc. The Director kept interviewing the cast of the Karate kid throughout the ENTIRE doc as if that was the only film Morita ever did. Granted, the Film made him a star but it was not the epitome of his work as an actor. In the same way Morita’s struggle with addiction did not define him as a human being, but yet, the Director spent the last forty minutes of the film talking about Pat’s struggles in the most depressing manner possible instead of memorializing him as a great actor and human being as he deserved. A very one dimensional documentary.
Well to say this series has surprised me in a GOOD way would be an understatement. It looked like in Episode 2 that things had gone off the rails writing wise but it appears I was just being impatient. By the end of Episode 5 you will find yourself knee deep in a Criminal Conspiracy on a Global Scale complete with Police Corruption that will make your jaw drop. Running parallel to that storyline is a really well crafted character arc about redemption. What I really liked about this series is it’s unconventionality, the writer’s were not afraid to break the stereotypes surrounding the sexual abuse of women. Bravo! I am not surprised that often by a foreign crime series but I really liked this one. Definitely worth the 6 hour investment!
I don’t know about masterpiece. It was very good. Started a bit slow but then got up to speed. Topkapi was the heist flick that started it all and was/is what I consider a classic and a must see for those into the genre; old now, but still a great watch. Another really good heist flick is The Italian Job. (Edit: the 2003 one. There’s also an earlier one with Michael Caine, that must be good (he’s great) but I haven’t seen that one yet.)
In the canon of Heist films up until this point, this one by Michael Mann stands alone and is a masterpiece not only as a crime story but also in firearms realism. Fast forward to 1995 and you get the the all time heavyweight champion of heist films, Heat, which is not only a masterpiece of crime fiction but also again, in firearms realism and urban combat. The Shootout at the bank job is pure perfection. Michael Mann as a Director stands alone in terms of firearm realism in film, no contest.
I really wanted to like this series but ultimately it fell flat with me. The script was way too ambitious, especially the “resistance” storyline. This was based on a book about U-boats, why turn it into a WW2 soap opera? I’ll stick with the 1981 movie which is still the pinnacle of WW2 UBoat movies IMO.
Good doc. I mostly wanted to hear from Levon Helm and he talks quite a bit in it so that was nice. Personally they would have not become what they were without him and Robbie knows it. Seeing Peter Gabriel, heck I didn’t even recognize him. Man were are all getting old for sure. 4/5
If you want to watch a GREAT Doc on Levon Helm, check out “Ain’t in it for my Health”(2010)
Although tremendous artistic license was taken with the historical record, this was a well done WW2 drama.
This is definitely one of my favorite Dark westerns, right up there with Bone Tomahawk. The script was loosely based on the life of cannibal Alfred Packer. Really solid writing and superb acting by all involved, including one of my favorite period actors, Jefferey Jones.
The writing and overall quality of the series went sideways about half way through. I doubt it’s going to recover but let’s see.
oh yeah? Is it on here? I will check it out thanks
It’s here but no links, let me see what I can do.

Really well done historical film about the history and tragedy of Malta in the early 20th Century. Strange role for Harvey Keitel, did not fit him at all.
@TX2Guns .. Somehow on the page to Battle for Savastopol, Cloudflare.com was blocked in Ublock Origin that i use, i have it ublocked on Primewire so the icons show up to download or watch. It should be unblocked for everything in Primewire, so why it turned off on that page i have no idea.. anyway its all fixed on my end. thx for the link..)
That’s weird. Never had that issue with UBlock and I have been using it for a LONG time. Glad it works!
Really well done atmospheric Cold War slow and methodical murder mystery with a lot of political rabbit trails. You have to pay attention with this one, don’t say I did not warn you.
Yeah, all the links work for this one not sure what you mean?

Really enjoying this series so far. The historical accuracy regarding America’s early isolationist attitude and the story surrounding the Lend/Lease Act was spot on. My only complaint is Kyle MacLachlan as FDR.. he just does not sell the role IMO.Out of all the FDR’s, Jon Voight was the best in terms of spirit and attitude in that awful movie Pearl Harbor.
One of my favorite Icelandic actors Olafur Darri Olafsson (Trapped) makes an all too brief appearance as the psychotic meth cook cultist, Dewall.

It was a bit boring. For a TV show, its limitations were obvious. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is a much better watch Not a TV show but much better watch if you’re into that era of espionage.
Tinker Tailor is the gold standard for cold war espionage series, of course. Nothing can beat that. If you want an excellent MODERN Espionage series check out all 5 seasons of the French made The Bureau. Superb writing with excellent characters and acting.

Sharp little cold war Brit series. I remember when it first came out so it’s worth watching.
Well, yeah, I guess he deserves some credit. :) Though, most of my adoration goes to Titus Welliver. But none of this could have been possible without the outstanding performances of the entire cast.
True, takes two to tango, but a good crime series begins and end with the script and if Connelly was not involved to ensure quality control I can almost promise you this series would have been a DUD and not the amazing saga it has become.
I am a huge Missing and Baptise fan but I got one problem with this episode: Either the Bulgarian Police are really friggin terribe at their jobs or Corrupt as hell but tell me how you conduct an all night missing person Grid search for a British Ambassadors family with a Helicopter and find nothing but Baptise can walk 100 yards from the hotel and find a body? Please bad writers, don’t ruin this series too!
I watch this a couple times a year. Based on The Quinessential L.A. Noir Novel, Hands down it is the Best James Ellroy adaptation ever made.
Based very loosely on the story of the Cali Cartel, this is Nowhere near the quality of writing or acting as Narcos but if you like Mexican/South American Drug Kingpin telenovella melodramas, you might like this one.
A dark, sordid tale of corruption and murder that is coming along nicely. The acting is really top notch. Stephen Graham adds a touch of class and professionalism to any role he plays and although I typically don’t care for Colin Farrell, he is one menacing, evil MF in this one!
This is one of my top 5 Mickey Rourke movies. Alan Parker did a great job with both the script and Directing. The Crime Noir Private Detective feel throughout with both the foreshadowing and character development is top notch.
