It’s contemporary, in the trailer Christine Adams (black lightning’s gurl) has a very thin monitor on her desk - they couldn’t make them that thin earlier than 2010 or so.

What time period does this movie take place? I knew/know nothing about this movie at all. Yes, JDM seems to get better as he ages and sure has come a long way since his days on Grey’s Anatomy!

The Meg (2018)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

It wasn’t a bad movie and it did have some cringe moments but I would watch this any day over that stupid Sharknado! Which I’ve never watched and won’t be anytime soon! Okay, I found a huge glaring ooopps! Lori got injured and and object was protruding from the LEFT side of her abdomen. When she is brought back to the station the doctor said the object just missed her liver. Since when is the liver on the left side of the body?

I’ve been a fan of this character for years. Used to watch the show when I lived in Italy as a teen. I noticed it is in French with subs. Hopefully they’ll dub it soon, don’t like reading my TV shows.

PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

I so agree with you about having to read subtitles! Sometimes they’re not on long enough for me to read. I’m not a speed reader. 😁😉 And I like to do other things while watching….a little sewing or maybe beading etc.

I’ve not watched this episode yet, so I’ll have to watch it to see if I’ve had enough too. What I do fine annoying is Clarice’s accent and I find her to be rather toooooo young to an FBI agent! It’s not the actors fault that this drama is lacking in substance, they all are good actors! It’s the writers!

I was still in grade school when this movie was released. I’ve never watched it and had forgotten about this movie until I saw your comment. This movie will be going on my “to watch” list. Thank you for mentioning it and have a good weekend.

CSI: Vegas (2021)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

I am looking forward to this and a bunch of new people to get to know! “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox are to return as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle in CSI: Vegas, a sequel to the original series of the TV phenomenon. The show has been given a straight-to-series order network CBS for later this year. Petersen and Fox will be joined by new co-stars Paula Newsome (Barry), Matt Lauria (Kingdom), Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth) and Mandeep Dhillon (After Life) as Grissom and Sidle’s colleagues.”

One thing I’ve noticed in this mini-series is the amount of smoking these people do! I’m not use to seeing people smoke on tv shows since that is no longer common on American tv shows and movies and you won’t see cigarette ads either on American tv networks.

The Serpent (2021)
TX2Guns 3 points 3 years ago.

Not bad for the BBC. The writing, cast and directing were all top notch. Tahar Rahim knocks it out of the park as usual as the grifter/psychopath/mickey slipper. I was equally impressed with Billy Howle as well. My only complaint about the series was the back and forth chronology. There are better ways to tell a story than playing Time Bandits for 8 hours.

PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

Just started watching this and I agree with you, the jumping back and forth in time was so, so annoying! Great acting thus far and what is so frightening is that it’s a true story! And yes, the BBC has done it again, made a great mini-series! We don’t seem to have those anymore in the USA nor a lot of period dramas which is a shame.

Is there a reason why we can’t hear the dialogue? All I hear is Christmas music and I see the actors talking but I’m not hearing them as they speak.

Coroner (2019)
coyotejoe 0 points 3 years ago.

slow awful show, bad acting, bad writing, unrealistic situations, heavy with its social justice agenda. Thought a coroner worked at the Morgue but this mentally ill Nancy Drew thinks shes a detective going on raids and tracking down suspects.

PonderThis 5 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I beg to differ with you, if you’ve watched Harrow, he too does some detective work and the late 70’s early 80’s drama Quincy M.E., Quincy did some detective work. And if you watched the tv drama Graceland, Serinda Swan was very, very good in that drama. And Roger Cross has been in many tv shows and not just a one of character. Maybe this type of drama isn’t your cuppa tea but is a very good drama in my opinion.

Not so sure about that but she could be seen in flashbacks maybe! She didn’t have any food and one of those hotspots was several miles away. She wouldn’t have had the strength to make it without food. I’ve always liked any character Sean Bean portrays, but I can’t stand him as Wilford! The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (2021) S1 E2

My goodness, Wyatt Russell at times sounds like his dad Kurt Russell. He definitely has features from both of his parents. We shall have to wait and see if he’s got their acting chops as well. I was also concerned that Emily Vancamp would be leaving the tv drama “The Resident” but she filmed both shows and both dramas are filmed in Atlanta. Then I realized that The Falcon & The Winter Soldier is a “mini-series” from Disney +.

The Postcard Killings (2020)

I really liked this movie and once again Cush Jumbo is playing an American and Jeffery Dean Morgan is spot on as a grieving father and his detective instincts are spot on too. Kinda wish this was a tv crime drama instead of a movie with many episodes and a numerous bunch of seasons!

Just happen to see a comment about this movie and I thought I had seen most of the movies Bruce had made. But I missed this one and saw that Michael Imperioli was in this movie too but he was way down on the list of actors in this movie. I guess he hadn’t made a name for himself yet. Walken always give me the heebie jeebies and yeah, not a fan of Walken but Bruce drew me to this movie and not Walken! And you can’t go wrong with Ry Cooder doing the music for this movie. Cooders music has a sound like none other!

yes wasn’t that War of the worlds?

PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

Yes, I did a paper for a college history class about the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. It was at the time that Hitler was making his march into Poland and this was before the US entered the war. Many people hearing the radio broadcast thought it was Hitler attacking the east coast. Orson Wells and his genius mind at work but I don’t think he had any idea that he would cause a panic.

PonderThis 7 points 3 years ago*.

This movie brought back some childhood memories…..I was a young child of the 1960’s and I still remember the drills we had to do at school. We did what was called “duck and cover”. When the superintendent announced the drill, we would quickly get under our desks and cover our eyes. As if this would save us from a nuclear bomb! An air force base was about a 45 minute drive from my hometown. We often heard the sonic booms as jets flew over which of course scared the _out of us. We just knew it had to be the Russian bombers and after that first sonic boom, our teacher told us the jets were from the air base. Our parents never told us how close the US came to being nuked. It was years later in a US history class I learned how everyone was on pins and needles for days.

It shouldn’t be called a tv show… It’s more a radioshow or podcast. No reason to watch.. There is nothing to watch… Really crappy…

PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

I’ve not listened to any and probably won’t. But the description reminds me of radio mysteries and the BBC has some really good ones on YouTube. Some go back to the 1930’s. Back when the only type of entertainment was going to a theater to watch a movie, or listen to the radio or gasp……read a book.

The Stand (2020)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

I’ve been a Stephen King fan for years! Many years ago I was a disk jockey and I had the midnight to 6 shift and I had to stay awake. Stephen King to the rescue! I’ve read most of his books and they helped to keep me awake since I was the only one in the building. But there was one book I had to put down, Misery! When Annie cut off his foot and thumb that was it. I also refused to watch those 2 scenes in the movie. So far, I’ve been pacing myself on finishing this series of The Stand. King always finds a way to needle us and to get under our skin in the most uncomfortable way! Wonder why Dean Koontz books haven’t been made into tv series? His books are intense too.

Ben is one of the best Batman’s in my opinion but hey I still love Michael Keaton version.

PonderThis 4 points 3 years ago.

I agree and the best Joker was Heath Ledger! The worst batman was George Clooney! Val Kilmer was okay but he wasn’t edgy enough and I couldn’t get past Christian Bales weird voice he used when in his costume. When it was announce that Michael Keaton was to play batman, we all went, “Say what? You’ve got to be kidding me?” But he made it work.

No problem. I know. Sometimes I get so excited to see there’s a show on here and then there are no links - especially older shows like this. This is a gem and shouldn’t be missed despite how old it is. And Nicholas Campbell shines in it. I hope you enjoy it!

PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago*.

The request for links to be added is a lengthy one and I don’t know when or if the uploaders will ever get to them all. PW is about the only site that has a lot of movies from the 30’s and 40’s and older tv shows. That is why I use PW 100% of the time. I can find a few on YouTube for free which is a good 2nd source for some older movies/tv shows.

Desperate Journey (1942)

I had never heard of this movie and was a bit surprised to say the least. Just wonder how Flynn and Reagan got along during filming of the movie. I’m still shocked that I’d never heard of this movie before and it does have some well known stars to say the least. A bit silly at times but still worth watching though.

Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I paused it a few times because I just couldn’t set through 4 hours. It had its up and down moments. I kept thinking back to 1977 when we teens thought Star Wars was the coolest thing because of the technology that was used to make the movie. Then technology gets better in the 21st century and I’m amazed yet once again. I do agree that the writing for Lois was a bit weak and the writing was weak here and there. But a lot better than Wonder Women 1984. And I don’t think I’ll be watching this one again…..4 hours is a bit much for me to set through again.
