Rest in peace Paul Reubenstein. Most know of Hartman, Fishburne & others from Larraine Newman’s Groundlings & other comedy troupes that worked with Pee-Wee, but Natasha Lyonne also got her start as one of the little kids on Pee Wee’s Playhouse.

I just watched pee wees big adventure not long ago. He was an underrated comedian imo. RIP dear Paul Reubens you will be missed by many.

We saw this last night and wow, what an impression it made! I can see how it would be polarizing in the extreme, and its lack of ‘splody pew-pew will immediately alienate a large chunk of the movie-going audience. But with some thought and attention, one can find a real message and a wonderful exploration of the human condition here. It is rife with metaphor and representations of various philosophies and ways of thought, and the main character, Bella (played wonderfully by Emma Stone) is the tabula rasa left to absorb them all. She comes out the other side an amalgam of most, the best parts of each and not all of any one. It’s that last point that finds her at odds with some, who cannot stand the idea that she has made up her own mind and not adopted their own rigid forms of thinking.

Brilliant. Had us talking for hours afterwards.

yellow_rose1 1 points 4 months ago.

you have made a brilliant synopsis of this film and spot on, I would also like to add. This film was so odd that I couldn’t find the words to break it down without revealing too much. Great job once again.

Nice love story. Listen to your own heart, not others opinions. A bit over acted in areas, but I liked the cast. I’d watch it again.

yellow_rose1 1 points 4 months ago.

I watched this when it was released therefore I was 22 years old and I fell in love with their love. I thought the acting was very convincing but I was much younger then. If I were to watch it now I may feel differently. Reading your comment, I might just do that. Thanks for your post

Hell Camp: Teen Nightmare (2023)
yellow_rose1 4 points 4 months ago*.

Wow this is just awful. Great documentary. I couldn’t stop watching it. I was their age when all this had become a big sensation. My parents adopted this guy’s teaching on tough love. Which became silent treatments, threats of being sent away. No actual punishments. It must be mentioned that we were the first of the latch key generation. We had no one looking after us and when we would get into trouble it was this huge shock and our parents would take no responsibility for the trouble we would get into. I’m so grateful that I was not sent to one of these places. However it could have been me, my Mom hated to spend money so I guess that is what saved me.

You mean the Sin Eater? He’s not crazy; he’s a Sin Eater. The actor is Sam Spruell and the character is “Ole Munch”; it is supernatural folk horror, not mental illness and it is AMAZING. Woohoo!

yes the sin eater that was a crazy scene for sure. I loved it!

Great to know. I just watched the 2nd epi & it was just as riveting. All the characters are intriguing due to the acting. There’s also some unexpected humor too sprinkled throughout. Despite knowing all the pieces (or thinking that I do, we’ll see) the storytelling really keeps you in suspense. There’s always surprises right around the corner in the Fargo universe though.

yellow_rose1 2 points 4 months ago*.

oh wow I am hooked now. The crazy dude he’s the best player out of all of them. He draws in intrigue and mystery like I’ve never know in a character before. Of course Juno Temple is killing it! Jennifer Jason Lee is very convincing as rich stuck up snob, but she’s not terrible in this character role. I guess it’s just a huge change from what I’ve watched her in before that it is taking me time to be convinced. Great season.

wow, it is unfathomable that these woman could do this to their very own father. He was helpless and infirm. It is something I can not understand but that is what makes the difference between a person that is capable of murder and one that is not. I’m happy that Dad eventually got his justice. By all accounts he seemed to be a loving, supportive father, much more than most in fact. RIP

Paul Watson opened my eyes to the destruction of these majestic mammals. I tried to teach my children to boycott any marine parks as there is a huge one in Niagara Falls here in Ontario where I reside. His tenacity to never surrender to continue to fight for all marine life and the seas in which they live and multiply. He and his crew risk their own lives to save these species from certain extinction. His bravery and courage has no boundaries. God bless this man. It only more people would join the cause. Sadly we will not just have dead zones in our oceans but no life what so ever if we continue to pillage the seas like we have.

Poor Things (2024)

This is truly the craziest movie I have ever witnessed. It was genius. I loved every minute of it. Emma Stone will win an award for this role, no doubt and Dafoe was incredible too. I loved the ending. It was long but well worth every second. A true masterpiece

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
yellow_rose1 1 points 4 months ago*.

I really don’t know why I decided to watch this today. Perhaps being sick with the flu/covid clouded my decision making. It is a movie I wouldn’t pay any attention to under normal circumstances. I had very little expectations and I think that was the reason I watch it until the end. The victims were not sympathetic victims right from the get go. The is so much land stealing and landowners throwing people of their land with no provacation in the real world therefore it was really difficult for me to cheer for anyone to live in this movie. Poor acting, poor script, terrible screen shots and the make up on leather face sucked. Did I miss anything?

Jesus: His Life (2019)

Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler (2023)

I’m not a big Kelly Siegler fan. I think she’s too dramatic. She seems to turn the cases she prosecutes into fanfare that boarders on misconduct. However, this show has been catching my attention. Each episode it’s always about cases she fought either. Most of the episodes I have not heard about, except for the first one. Good show. I look forward to it every weekend

Agreed. Her interview here is reminiscent of the whole “Making A Murderer” sensationalism and lie. Those boys/young men are proven liars. There are huge facts that were omitted and changed, just like MAM. Oprah has always been greedy. This is disgusting.

I agree with your statement. I also don’t agree with the downvoting ability on here. It just breeds animosity in some people. It is a way to show negativity and even YT did away with it long ago. Happy you reviewed this! Steve Martin may not be as physical as he once was, but he toured a live show with Martin Short that was really great - stand-up along with his great banjo playing band. Like you two, we also miss John Ritter. He was a great continuation of slap-stick that went from Vaudeville, Marx Brothers, Stooges, Keaton, Lloyd, Chaplin, Martin & Lewis - but also Dick Van Dyke, Don Knotts, Tim Conway & Carol Burnett. John was right in that same pocket. Early Chevy Chase came close, but John nailed it!
