This episode made me want some nuts….

SO happy to see this is back. It’s clear that Serena’s built an army of supporters. As for June, “You killed someone? You’re free to go. But you mailed a severed finger, so you must pay a fine.” Seriously?
It originally was a Broadway musical (in case you didn’t know), so the opera feel comes from that I’m sure and/or whoever adapted the score/screenplay for the movie. I’ve not seen the play but I saw this in the theater & although visually spectacular I felt uncomfortable throughout. I’ve since fallen out of watching musicals which is very odd since I’m a big music person. I think it has to do with the unreality of a bunch of people breaking into the same song supposedluy’spontaneously’. I just can’t get into the cornball/fantasy aspect of that anymore lol. Funny though my favorite movie is Hedwig & The Angry Inch which is a rock musical. Love that movie so much.
Augusts1: Hedwig is in a league of it’s own! “It’s the sweetest taste I’ve known, oh yea! If you’ve got some sugar, bring it home.”
Its interesting how they intertwined the fairy tales. And the cast is top notch but, this plays more like an opera. Too much singing can be a bad thing … over kill. Its not something I will re-watch.
I’ve seen it a couple times, with friends. It’s great for a movie night with friends, but unless you’re a big fan of musicals, it’s not something you’d watch alone more than once. Still, quite cleverly written.
The anthology format really works here! The individual stories let you see different sides of a post-apocalyptic world. Yet because each is dedicated to one or two main characters, the episodes can bring depth to the characters more quickly. If you like a story told in a shorter span, this is for you. But if you prefer to get to know the characters very slowly, over many seasons, you might be disappointed. I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this season. Baby Colin’s journey, Guillermo’s ups and downs, Nandor and his quest for love, the softer side of Laszlo, and seeing Nadja trying and failing to fulfil her dreams (with the help of The Guide, played by voice actress Kristen Schaal). I hope it gets renewed!
I was a bit disappointed by this finale. Everything from the story line to the sets seemed rehashed. It’s not the worst episode of the season (that would be “Facelift), but not great for a season finale.
Dark, twisted, and dirty. A great episode! Glad to see “American Dad” is back.
I stopped watching Season 1 after the 2nd epi because it was so bad. I liked the 1st epi but the ‘Drive In’ was so teen drama it was horrendous. I’m glad they bounced back from it
I actually liked the Drive-in one. But I love Adrienne Barbeau. From “The Fog” to “Creepshow” to “AJ and the Queen” to “Tales of Halloween”, she never disappoints.
Talk about twisted! That was so good but so sick. What an emotional rollercoaster.
Right, augusts1? This is exactly what season 2 of “American Horror Stories” is about! The first season was more misses than hits, but this time. . .
“Antidisestablishmentarianism”! Samantha Harris is gorgeous.
Beverly Kills doesn’t know “Muriel’s Wedding”? Wow.
Bottom two, it was obvious who was winning that one. Still it was well done.
Great songs. Good pairings. I wasn’t surprised at the bottom two. They have to split hairs at this point, and those two were slightly weaker. Nice to see Gottmik again.
I don’t even know what to say about that one.
It certainly deserves STIFF criticism. :-P
Seriously, I thought it wasn’t bad. The ending was kind of beautiful, in it’s own “American Horror Stories” kind of way.
A youth-obsessed Judith Light, a sketchy plastic surgeon, a cult. I really wanted to like it. But this is my least favorite episode of the season.
The Gregory scene had me crying for way too long! Seriously, I’m loving this TV adaptation so far.
Yeah, those horrible “based on the novel by…” series. Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Good Omens, Watchmen, Dexter, A Handmaid’s Tale. I love how people speak as if their opinion is the definitive one. Given that Rice has sold over 130 million books, I doubt she is losing sleep at night because you don’t like her work. Comparing Rice’s books to Lumley’s is like comparing apples to oranges. Yeah, they’re both fruits, but they taste nothing alike. Some prefer apples, some oranges. Some like one, but have no like for the other and just because you don’t care for something doesn’t mean that it has no value.
Well said, grasshopper rex. Anne definitely isn’t losing sleep, given that she passed back in December. . . Seriously, I’m excited to see where this goes. A lot of “based on the novel by” end up being good. Not all, of course.
It was interesting to see the story behind Alpha. I liked this one. It’s got the feel of early “Walking Dead” episodes, but is set later in the apocalypse.
As much as I love Dominique, her acting range is pretty limited. She only plays herself really. She is a Grand Dame though (pronounced w/the ‘a’ as an ‘ah’ of course lol). Did you ever watch the reality show Strut that she’s in (not Pose, which wasn’t a reality show). It was my intro to her.
I ended up watching 2 epis since there was a wrong epi called Dollhouse which was really good. This one was ok imo.
“Dollhouse” was actually the first one in this season. I saw an “official” list somewhere that was pretty off. “Dollhouse” isn’t bad. I think “Aura” is my fave so far. Though this one comes in a close second.
Minnie’s Ellen is terrible. Her best jokes were left in the werkroom, it seems. Hannah’s Liza started off slow, but suddenly was hilarious. Yuri’s Courtney was pretty spot on. Kween’s NeNe was pretty good too. Ru’s “The Witches” runway look was everything! But so much for Minnie Cooper (Super Duper!).
Wow! Every one of those performances was good. But it was obvious which two would be in the bottom, based on the minor critiques they got. And the winner definitely deserved it. As for the eliminated queen, I knew who it was when I saw her lips without being overdrawn.
Just watched this. Parker Posey looks rough! Maybe it’s that whole temporal loop thing.
I hear you. At least give the first episode a shot. It’s something completely different. These are all stand-alone stories.
I’m still behind on TWD. And haven’t seen this second episode. But I agree that greyfur should give the first a shot. I’ve gotten a bit burned out on the TWD story lines, but this might actually bring new life to it. Plus. . . Terry Crews!
Interesting twist on the urban legend. Casting Dominique Jackson was genius! I do wonder why the girls were putting on so much makeup just to play a slumber party game.
Given how TWD has beaten a corpse, I went into this with low expectations. It’s not bad! Terry Crews (Joe) is an almost likeable character. The storyline is fairly well written. Fans of the Walking Dead universe will recognize a lot of locations.
So many “basic” queens. But it’s a shame no one did plumbum (lead)
What a fun start! Some were more memorable than others. Poppy Love stole the stage and the win with Alanis. Chakra 7 was spot on. Donna Belissima brought comedy, but might’ve done better in a more flattering outfit (and a corset). I loved her melons and eggplants, though. I cracked up when Electra Owl made that remark about Drag Queens doing their own hair and makeup, then calling Ru out. lmao. “Thirsty von Trapp your hills were alive!” Fabulosity talking about wanting to do moves she can normally do, girl, I feel you! Jackie Would? I already have, js :-P I got the feeling Brooke Lynn Hytes has a thing for Chick-li-Fay. Which might explain the “cougar at 2AM look. Milli von Sunshine was forgettable. Bless her heart. I wasn’t surprised at the outcome. Sorry to see Fabulosity/Loretta Devine go. I know I recognize some of those other voices.
I’m going against the grain. I like this season better than the first. This isn’t the BEST of the season so far. But not the worst. It IS pretty gross at times, but with a purpose.

Shadowside: Yes! I rented the DVD when it came out. Haven’t seen since. Thanks for the reminder, I think it might be time for a rewatch.
I immediately looked them up the other day and added them to my ever growing list which I keep on Notepad in my PC.
Thank you for your trouble in linking them for me.
Doh! I thought they were funny words you made up.
Thanks, alexisbits, I’ll check them out.

Nope, they’re all zombie animal films. As you can imagine, somewhat comedic. But fun watches. I hope you enjoy/ed them!
Kinda funny and creepy episode :P
Yeah, there’s definitely a bit of creepiness to it.
