Batwoman (2019)
Arcangel2020 14 points 3 years ago.

I knew this show was going to be a total disaster once Ruby (I can’t act my way out of wet paper bag) Rose was cast as the lead character. I decided to go against my initial feelings and watch the show…guess was totally right! Ruby Rose is NOT a good or even decent actress to begin with…how she got cast as the “Batwoman” is beyond me..she was in one season of “Orange Is The New Black” and that character barely registered on the attention scope..and then she was in John Wick 2 playing a mute assassin with no speaking lines whatsoever.
The fact that the CW is still continuing this series and recast the main character with a Black actress as the new “Batwoman” is both hysterical and laughable and proves that they don’t know what they are doing with this series that should have been cancelled midway through the first season.

The Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Arcangel2020 10 points 2 years ago.

This is SUCH a terrific 80ies Horror gem of a movie and without a doubt one of my all time favorite Zombie movies ever made as well. This one is a very clever homage the George Romero’s classic Zombie fare (many uninformed thought this was part of Romero’s classic zombie films..but it most definitely is not).
Terrific storyline, a lot of campy dark humor and great practical effects too. I always like to watch this one leading up to or ON Halloween night.

Resident Alien (2021)
Arcangel2020 11 points 3 years ago*.

I like what I have seen/heard so far about this upcoming series.
Unfortunately, it’s a made for SyFy Channel Production…and we all know what THAT means…it’s either going to be really BAD and we have been misled by the hype…or…it will actually be pretty good which will be it’s very own “Death Sentence” and will be canceled after the first season or two leaving us all annoyed, frustrated & pissed off that another good series has bit the dust. Which is typical of the SyFy Channel. It keeps the shitty shows going while canceling the ones that are worth caring about and watching

The Book of Boba Fett (2021) S1 E4
Arcangel2020 8 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Good Episode. I liked the backstory of how Boba and Fennic became a team, loved how it explained how Boba got the old Slave One ship back in his possession and how he took over Jabba’s old palace too. Also loved the payback scene with the Biker Gang.

Moonfall (2022)
Arcangel2020 8 points 2 years ago.

No one does End of the World, Destruction of Earth Apocalypses like Roland Emmerich! I’ve always enjoyed seeing what creative ways he comes up with to destroy the planet…Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow, 2012..always entertaining. I expect no less from him with this one. I am pretty sure it’s going to be another epic cheesy bad/good one.

Mayans M.C. (2018)
Snoop -2 points 3 years ago.

Not exactly surprising since all the other shows he’s tried miserably failed and he really doesn’t have much to do with Mayans. Bit of a one-trick pony that guy.

Arcangel2020 7 points 3 years ago.

Let’s see here…if you’re referring to Kurt Sutter? He was part of the (excellent) FX series “The Shield”; he created the (excellent) series “Sons of Anarchy” (which he also even appeared in as a character) and was part of “Mayans MC” during the first season. The only show that “failed” was “The Bastard Executioner”. So, he is far from what you call a “One Trick Pony”

Without Remorse (2021)
Arcangel2020 8 points 3 years ago.

Nope. As a fan of author Tom Clancy’s older novels, this one just failed on so many levels

Pushing Daisies (2007)
Arcangel2020 6 points 3 years ago.

This was SUCH a great little series to watch! A shame that it was cancelled after only two seasons and I remember too, that it was a victim of the Actors/Writers Strike (quite a few shows as well as movies suffered from it and never recovered). I loved the premise/storyline, the colorful sets and the cast was really good too (Lee Pace, Anna Friel AND Kristin Chenowith).

Logan's Run (1976)
Drizzt 5 points 2 years ago*.

Holy smokes !!! Damnation Alley !! I used to watch that in Montreal in theatres everyday when it came out while visiting my aunt and uncle. I loved that movie,, I think it was one of the first to get me into science fiction, But the very first was outer limits https://www.primewire.li/tv/33812-watch-the-outer-limits Think I was 7-8 very first time seeing it :) thanks arc https://www.primewire.li/movie/167628-watch-damnation-alley

Arcangel2020 4 points 2 years ago.

Yes, the original “Outer Limits” is/was awesome to watch and it made an impression me, watching the old re-runs late at night. I always liked Outer Limits more than the original Twilight Zone because it was Sci-Fi themed.

True to the Game 2 (2020)
Arcangel2020 4 points 3 years ago.

Vivica A Fox is JUST like Taraji P. Henson…she doesn’t care about the quality of a script or the storyline of the project she is involved with, just give her a paycheck and she will show up.

Slither (2006)
Arcangel2020 4 points 3 years ago.

Terrific film from James Gunn! really liked this one a lot and it reminded me of the 80ies classic gem, “Night of the Creeps” too.

S.O.Z. Soldados o Zombies (2021)
Arcangel2020 4 points 2 years ago.

S.O.Z…basically Narcos meets The Walking Dead (back when it was a good series to watch) meets Army of the Living Dead. The first episode is a bit of a slow burn, but it kicks into overdrive afterwards. Oh and one should always be ware of Zombie Pigs..LOL

Logan's Run (1976)
Drizzt 8 points 2 years ago.

Love this old classic, I am very surprised they have not made a remake yet, Like Soylent Green another great classic https://www.primewire.li/movie/155455-watch-soylent-green :)

Arcangel2020 4 points 2 years ago.

Absolutely! Loved watching movies like “Logan’s Run” “Soylent Green” “Silent Running”, “Omega Man” and Damnation Alley” too. Classic 70ies era Dystopian movies I grew up watching as a little kid in the 70ies. There was talk of a re-make of “Logan’s Run” being made…but thankfully, just like the talk about re-making “Escape From New York”? It was just rumors and talk and thankfully nothing has come to fruition on any of that!

What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
Arcangel2020 4 points 3 years ago.

I like this series a lot, it’s well done and hysterically funny. The premise of Vampires living in the modern era with a human familiar may sound like a tired trope/been there-done that sort of thing…but this show cleverly handles that with brilliant deadpan (pardon the pun) humor and silliness

Young Frankenstein (1974)
DemandingFemale 9 points 2 years ago.

You might also enjoy this one written and directed by Gene Wilder - The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother

Arcangel2020 5 points 2 years ago.

Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate it!

Young Frankenstein (1974)
Arcangel2020 5 points 2 years ago*.

This movie is pure comedic Gold! One of my all-time favorite films from Director Mel Brooks (the others are Blazing Saddles and History of The World, Part 1), each and every time I watch this one? It’s as funny and hysterical as the first time I watched it as a little kid. Everything about this one is great…the acting, cast, the comedic timing/jokes as well as the hysterically clever take on the classic horror film Frankenstein.
If you’re having a bad day and/or especially if you want to just enjoy a movie that will make laugh from beginning to end? Just watch this one.

1883 (2021)
DoubleR-Alpha 6 points 2 years ago.

Never seen Yellowstone, but binge watched these 3 episodes. Really enjoyed it

Arcangel2020 5 points 2 years ago.

Highly recommend you binge watch all 4 seasons of Yellowstone! The fourth season just ended, so you can watch all the episodes. the series is definitely worth the hype and it’s a great show.

The Big Lebowski (1998)
Arcangel2020 5 points 2 years ago.

One of my all time favorite comedy movies from the Cohen Brothers in their early years (along with the equally classic Raising Arizona). This movie is such a classic comedy with a great cast everyone from Jeff “The Dude” Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro and Julianne Moore. This movie never fails to make me laugh every time I re-watch it.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979)
Arcangel2020 3 points 3 months ago.

This was the pilot movie for the late 70ies era NBC series, this was also released both in The U.S. as well as over in Europe as a Theatrical release. I remember seeing this in the theater as a little kid, loved the tv series (as a kid), had a HUGE crush on Pamela Hensley…I still like catching the old reruns on tv every now and then and seeing just how really, really cheesy BAD it’s Good the show was back in the day.

The Mandalorian (2019) S2 E1
Researcher 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

When he first showed up, his walk and posture immediately reminded me of Olyphant! Then, he spoke and I knew it was him. I think Timothy is Hollywood’s Go-To Man for U.S. Marshall types…he owns the role every time!

Arcangel2020 3 points 3 years ago.

Ha! Agreed!
I like Timothy Olyphant as an actor and really liked him in the FX series “Justified” as well as the film (remake of) “The Crazies” too. Watching him in “The Mandalorian” episode? I STILL kind of thought of him as Raylan Givens but on Tattooine.

The Shield (2002)
Arcangel2020 3 points 3 years ago.

Such a great show from beginning to end. Great premise, terrific storyline(s) and a great a great cast as well. It’s both cool and humorous to see later on how Kurt Sutter (who was part of “The Shield” production staff go on to create the equally terrific “Sons of Anarchy”) bring back a number of the actors from “The Shield” to do cameos as different characters in that series.

Alien Conquest (2021)
Smokeydagrasss 1 points 2 years ago.

Tom sizemore has seen better days. He has hit rock bottom to do this movie. He looks like hes having withdrawals lol.Horrible acting by every character.

Arcangel2020 3 points 2 years ago.

I agree, Sizemore has been in some excellent movies in the past…”Heat” and “Saving Private Ryan” for sure. It’s unfortunate that a really good actor has gone down the path of drug abuse, abusing women and several run-ins with the law in the past. Maybe one day he will clean up his act, get some help and someone in Hollywood will give him a chance to revive what was a promising career.

Lovecraft Country (2020)
fessologue 2 points 3 years ago.

Had never heard of Lovecraft! But damn, was I missing out!
I had so many “WTF” moments, I loved it!

Arcangel2020 3 points 2 years ago.

H.P. Lovecraft has been responsible for influencing a LOT of modern day Horror genre authors as well as Movie Directors (Guillermo Del Torro and his “Hellboy” movies are a great example). I absolutely recommend reading his stories (keep in mind though, it may take a bit of getting used to with his writing style since he wrote them all back in the 1930ies era) as well as the many anthology/omnibus’ which are comprised of H.P. Lovecraft themed modern day short stories by authors who are both famous and up and coming.
Another thing too…it’s unfortunate that a lot of H.P. Lovecraft movies made from his short stories are just plain gawd awful and a waste of time…what the fans need is a Director/Directors who will take an H.P. story and faithful adapt it for the big screen on streaming platform. A few that I can honestly recommend to watch? “The Re-Animator” is a fun, campy movie and my favorite is definitely the movie “From Beyond”.

Logan's Run (1976)

She has aged but still lovely. You can see her here now.

Of course, not everyone’s cup of tea.

EDIT: I was referring to the series, not Jenny Agutter.

Arcangel2020 3 points 2 years ago.

She was also in “Captain America: The Winter Solider” too as a member of the SHIELD” council (along with Robert Redford) and she still looks good for age too…imho

Friday the 13th: The Series (1987)
Arcangel2020 3 points 3 years ago.

Pretty excellent Horror themed show from the late 80ies (Along with Takes from The Crypt and Forever Knight). The show had some pretty clever stories each week and of course hot looking redhead (Louise) Robey was also another reason to watch as well :)

Dune: Part Two (2024)
IamBlue 8 points 2 months ago.

While Denis Villeneuve’s rendition of Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’ promised a faithful adaptation, I found myself somewhat disappointed with the two-part movie series.
Though undoubtedly enjoyable, I couldn’t help but notice numerous variations from the original book that deviated from Villeneuve’s assurances.
While the films were engaging, they didn’t quite align with the depth and intricacy of the source material.

In contrast, the Sci-Fi Channel’s miniseries from 2000 stands out to me as a superior adaptation.
Its fidelity to the books and meticulous attention to detail better captured the essence of Herbert’s work, offering a more cohesive and faithful retelling of the story.

Ultimately, while Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ movies were entertaining, they fell short of my expectations in terms of staying true to the source material.
However, for those seeking a visually stunning cinematic experience, they certainly deliver.

Arcangel2020 3 points 2 months ago.

Well said! I agree with you 100% on everything you mentioned.
I was a HUGE fan of the original “Dune” trilogy of novels that I read as a kid in High School, was utterly disappointed and disgusted by the abomination that David Lynch brought to the Big Screen in 1984. I have always said that the Syfy Channel’s 2000 Mini-Series was terrific and well done..the Dune Messiah and Children of Dune mini-series compilation left a lot to be desired, but it was still pretty good.
Yes, even though Villeneuve’s newer version is very well done and the visuals are pretty excellent, the way he deviated from some of the original source material was very annoying. But still..in the end? The dumpster fire that was Lynch’s creation doesn’t even come close to how good Villeneuve’s version is (Both Chapters)

Lifeforce (1985)
Arcangel2020 3 points 3 years ago.

Such a Cheesy Bad-It’s GOOD 80ies era Sci-Fi Horror gem! I remember seeing this one in the Base theater at Kapaun Air Station while stationed over in (West) Germany while in The Air Force. Two great things about this one? Hot British Actress Mathilda May is a “Space Vampire” and totally naked throughout the movie…and it’s cool to see actor Patrick Stewart pre-Star Trek The Next Generation

Shoresy (2022)
Arcangel2020 4 points 1 year ago.

This show is absolutely hysterical! A terrific series about a minor league Hockey team in Canada, it’s got hot looking chicks, Hockey and Canadian Hockey Humor. My only “Complaint”? There were not enough episodes in the first season! :)

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
Arcangel2020 4 points 3 years ago.

Classic 1950ies era Sci-Fi!
I grew up watching classic Sci-Fi movies like this one on Late Night Fridays and/or Saturday Afternoons as a kid growing up in the 70ies era.

Yellowstone (2018)
Arcangel2020 4 points 2 years ago.

The hype for this show is definitely spot on, this is a really GOOD series. I wondered what all the talk was about and so I decided to give the show a shot..and from the first episode..I have have been hooked. terrific acting, terrific storylines, the characters are great. I like Kevin Costner as an actor and I’ve liked a majority of the films he has been in (let’s face it some them were pretty bad…not all..but some) and he does a great job as the Patriarch of the Dutton family in this series.
I’ve been steadily working my way through all three season in order to get caught up to speed for Season 4, which will soon air.

How did I miss this? I saw the title and thought “Great, another tradesman on a vendetta flik.” then I saw the name Sigourney Weaver and clicked the trailer. This looks interesting.

Arcangel2020 4 points 3 months ago.

Ha! Thought the exact same thing, what with all the recent titles like “The Baker”, “The Painter”, “The Beekeeper” etc, etc. and then I saw the cast lineup of Weaver and Edgerton.

Amy Schumer: Growing (TV Special 2019) (2019)
Arcangel2020 4 points 3 years ago.

Wow. “Amazing” how Amy Schumer keeps getting offers from Netflix to turn her (terrible) standup routine into shows. Clearly little Ms. Schumer is relying heavily on her uncle (Senator Chuck Schumer) to influence the right people at Netflix to keep throwing good money after bad when it comes to not one, not two..but three shows.
Amy Schumer is not…I repeat NOT as funny as she thinks she is..her 5 minutes of fame stemming from the awful movie “Train Wreck” expired years ago, the movies she has been in since bombed big time at the box office and she is about as relevant today as a 5 day old Ham Snadwich left out in the sun.
She needs to finally understand that there are far more intelligent and funnier female commedians out there who are so much more better than she is.

Star Wars: Andor (2022)
Arcangel2020 3 points 1 year ago.

So far, I have really liked both “Obi Wan” and “The Book of Boba Fett” and of “The Mandalorian” too. This one, has been a bit of a “slow burn” so far with the first couple of episodes having been released at the same time. It does seem to pick up quite a bit during Episode 3 and the way it ends. Looking forward to seeing the 9 remaining episodes left.

Wellington Paranormal (2018)

Wait. What?! There is a spin-off of the hilarious show “What We Do In The Shadows”? I just recently binged watched the FX Network series and I am totally hooked. I really enjoyed all the episodes and am looking forward to the new season.
Now that I’ve learned of THIS show? I will definitely check it out and add to my “Watch List”

Antebellum (2020)
Arcangel2020 3 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Don’t even waste your time with this one, it’s utter SJW themed CRAP.
This movie had a lot of potential and really could have been something terrific..instead? You get a movie where it was made out to be one thing and turns out to be something completely different (Basically? The trailer for this film flat out LIES to you)
The story DOESN’T involve time travel or an alternate dimension (like the trailer made it out to be)
And the ending? Was something very similar to what you’ve seen if you watched M. Knight Shammalan’s “The Village”

The Mandalorian (2019) S2 E1
Arcangel2020 3 points 3 years ago.

Terrific start to the second season. I liked the storyline of “The Marshal” and liked Timothy Olyphant’s character and backstory and…not to ruin the ending for those who haven’t watched yet…the ending!
Damn you Disney+ for ONLY releasing each new episode one week at a time…lol

Interesting first episode…I liked the feel of it..certain parts of it (especially the beginning of the episode) felt very much like “Avengers: Endgame” while other parts reminded me of “Spiderman: Far from Home”. The Book of Boba Fett (2021) S1 E6

Thanks a bunch!

Arcangel2020 3 points 2 years ago.

As a Star Wars fan..I really enjoyed BOTH the Original Trilogy and the Prequels (although The Phantom Menace could have/should have been MUCH better imho), the animated Clone Wars series started off a little weak, but became such terrific series taking place between Clone Wars and Revenge of The Sith. I really liked it. I highly recommend watching the movie series in order…prequels..stopping at Clone Wars the movie and watching the animated Clone wars series, then Revenge of the Sith. Then watching Rogue One and then immediately seguing into the original trilogy. Just a suggestion.

Logan's Run (1976)

Omega Man !!! that was a great classic as well. I think I’ll watch it today, thanks Alien :)

Arcangel2020 3 points 2 years ago.

Absolutely! I saw it in the theater when I was all of 5 years old. My aunt took me to go see it at a small theater in Guernville, CA. It scared the crap out of me as a little kid. I love re-watching it from time to time. It’s cheesy Bad/Good, but I love it…hell, I think it’s way better STILL than the wretched re-make of a re-make of a re-make that was “I am Legend” with Will Smith in it. That was utter garbage. LOL
