The Big Lebowski (1998)
McShagan 8 points 5 years ago*.

I’m the dude man. The Coen bros masterpiece and that is saying something. If you are one of the few that haven’t seen this. Do yourself a favor and watch it while you are here.

Aliens (1986)
McShagan 4 points 5 years ago*.

My first introduction to Bill Paxton RIP. For me kick started the modern action film along with the Terminator. If you haven’t seen this I can only guess that you were born yesterday so get cracking cause you have a lot of catching up to do. On a side note, James Cameron,s wife Katheryn Bigelow gathered a few of the actors from this movie after they finished filming and made one of the coolest vampire movies I have ever seen. It’s called Near Dark and I cannot recommend it enough.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E6
McShagan 4 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I started last season with my issues with this show that I loved. it was just moving along with all payoffs and little dialog. By the time I saw episode 3 this season I was truly crushed. While with guidance Dumb and Dumber did a great job building an epic. They then proceeded to rip the soul out of it by ignoring every character building moment we have seen thru the first 6 seasons. The best character arch in the show was destroyed in the end. Tyrion and Varys were no longer smart. Jon Snow was no longer the man that those hard sons of bitches of the north chose as their leader and the entire buildup to Jons true parentage turned out to be basically something that pissed off Danny and nothing more. The Night King was just bad for badness sake with no real purpose thoughts other than to kill. The Best minds in the north thought is was a good idea to hide all the women and children among hundreds of corpses for when a zombie maker pays a visit. While the most powerful being on the side of good just sits and does nothing during the biggest event for the last 6000 year goes on all around him. They even dropped the Hound into fire to die. Yes when you could see what was going on it was eye candy at it’s best but that was all it was. Dumb and Dumber had the best effects, directors and actors to work with and produced nothing smart or clever or compelling to end this. Those two need to be taken out into the woods with a saw and a blow torch to pay for what they have done. What happens instead they are given Star Wars to destroy even more than it already has been.

World War Z (2013)
McShagan 5 points 5 years ago.

Film during the Zombie craze, this ended up being one of the more watchable movies in the genre. It was almost completely re shot before released so my expectations were guarded. I will say it did exceed what I expected. The acting was top notch, but there were plot holes. That being said, for me it has the re watch factor that so many movies lack today.

Fargo (2014)
McShagan 5 points 5 years ago.

First season is awesome. Billy Bob Thornton is at his best.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)
McShagan 5 points 4 years ago.

This is Brad Pitts movie and he was funny as hell. Loved it will watch it a billion more times.

10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago.

I loved this movie for what it was. It is hard to think of a role where Jonn Goodman doesn’t hit it out of the park and he didn’t disappoint here. Paired with Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s performance which was perfect this movie had some of the most tense moments that I can remember.

Taboo (2017)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago*.

This was not your average story which is one reason why I liked it so much. While not canceled nor does it show anything about any further episodes.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago.

Loved the BBC radio program and this was different but also enjoyable in movie form. Sam Rockwell is crazy in this but Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def is with out a doubt the best part of this movie.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago.

Taika Waititi made a movie that I loved called, What we do in the Shadows and I loved it. While Thor was my favorite super hero when I was little I was not impressed with the first two movies in the MCU. Ragnarok changed all that, this is my favorite MCU movie. It is big fun and Taika made it so.

Patrice O'Neal: Elephant in the Room (2011)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago.

Patrice is strait savage and I really miss him. In my top5 of all time and #1 when just riffing. This guy would strike fear in the hearts of other comedians if he decided to go 1 on 1 with them. Another great bit of his was the nasty show.

Legion (2017)
McShagan 4 points 5 years ago.

In my opinion Noah Hawley can do no wrong. This is not a show to put on in the background. Paying close attention is a must and even then several watches may be needed to truly appreciate this blend of science fiction, horror and the supernatural. Aubry Plaza’s performance in this is perfect and far exceeds what most people expect from the girl that played April Ludgate in Parks and Rec.

Jojo Rabbit (2019)
McShagan 5 points 4 years ago.

This was fantastic I cannot recommend it enough.

Annihilation (2018)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The visual effects in this movie were pretty impressive, considering today’s standards. It was pretty gory at times. Beware. But that’s about one of the very few things that were good about this movie. The very slow pace was boring, I find myself doing other things, while not missing anything about the story. Then, most of the actions of the characters made no sense, scientifically speaking. Too many illogical behaviors. Too many stupid things said by some of the characters, that went against the actions they were doing. Even the mental state of each member in the group was questionable. They were undisciplined, which was annoying. Especially with the doctor selfishness. A leader does not leave his/her crew behind. I had to fast-forward to the last 20mins, because the storyline was going nowhere. And by the end of the movie, I was annoyed. This movie had so much potential, but it was bugged down unnecessary long scenes, an incoherent script, and a lazy finality, that doesn’t satisfy. More times should’ve been spent on the “alien or aliens”, and their motivation. Instead, it just ends. But what happens next with the “couple”? We don’t know. I hate it when stops like that. So for me, this was nothing more than a one-time watch. Beautiful to look at at least. 2/5 stars.

McShagan 5 points 4 years ago*.

If I may Bella, their behavior was erratic true they were all heavily flawed individuals and the Dr knew it she was a psychiatrist. They were chosen for that very reason. The Dr had no intention of anyone returning because her flaw was cancer she was dying and had nothing to lose. Also the movie was poorly edited as well because some important info was left out from the the final cut. The title of the movie for instance was the control word used to delete memories from the women should the need arise and apparently it did. Do you remember when they woke up with no memory of setting up camp and there had been more food eaten than they could account for. That code word Annihilation had be used but it had been cut from the movie. I loved the concept that a life form with no true concept of itself needing only to find a way to survive by altering the life around it until found a suitable form. There was no intellect there until it found it’s awareness in Oscar Isaac’s character. It had found awareness in the others but their flaws made them unsuitable because they were not on a course for a sustained existence. While Oscar was dealing with the pain of betrayal the alien found a means to survive through his love of Natalie Portmans character. He had no intentions of continuing the relationship with her so his form was copied with out the memory’s of her betrayal. Her flaw was her guilt for betraying him but her love for him was what drove her. So she was flawed but the flaw didn’t hamper the coupling in fact it was why she didn’t need to be replaced. So finding it’s best way to survive in them It ended all other attempts of finding a form to continue living. I thought it was pretty cool myself, even though the movie had it’s issues.

Watchmen (2019) S1 E1

It’s revisionist history. What are you smoking?

McShagan 5 points 4 years ago.

The massacre of blacks in Oklahoma was a real event. The split in realities occurs after that.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
McShagan 4 points 5 years ago.

I need to separate Toms personal life with his professional. That being said it was great to see him start out as a D-bag and then grow into a protagonist that I really loved. As far as Emile Blount she could pick her nose for two hours and find a way to enjoy it.

They Live (1988)

Right . think i remember it was one of the longest in Hollywood back then.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG6uUqiWef0

South Park Paid homage to it with The Cripple fight that was even funnier when you realized what they were doing.

Peaky Blinders (2013)
gypsy soul 2 points 5 years ago.

I would like to point EVERYONE to this 4 Season series. I was ill a few years ago and basically binge watched everything I could get my hands on. What a wonderful escape -“Peaky Blinders”. I rate it right behind “Justified” {9.8/10) and before “Deadwood” (9/10). You’re Welcome in advance. Watch it now! Rumor has it that a Season 5 is in the works. 9.7/10

McShagan 4 points 5 years ago.

Sorry GS it is a great show, but there is no show better than Deadwood.

Alien (1979)
McShagan 4 points 5 years ago.

Saw this movie in the theater at 16 and then I didn’t sleep well for days because of the nightmares I was having. See kiddies nothing like this had ever been made. I mean the Exorcist had been released but the horror aspect being injected in to my favorite genre was way more than I expected. I was expecting Luke Skywalker to kick the bad guys butts. Instead I got Ripley showing me that girls were bad asses as well. So when Brie Larson wants to go on about needing girl hero’s too. All I can say is that she is about 40 years to late on that subject.

You sure got me good with that one. I am not sure what it means but you keep using these descriptive terms on others here on this site. Look at your post replying to fin apparently you are at -4 because I am a hypocrite. Now watch as I magically vote you down to 5 because I can vote twice here when I feel that someone deserves my attention. Do you see it is at 0 now? I do not down vote your dumb-ass because you are not worth the attention that I could pay to someone or something else that matters.

Watchmen (2019) S1 E1

The massacre of blacks in Oklahoma was a real event. The split in realities occurs after that.

McShagan 4 points 4 years ago.

Looks like we have some bleachers here by the looks of it. I now understand the purpose of the down vote. Rather than expose yourself along with your fucked up thoughts by explaining yourselves. You just hit the button. Good for you and may you all fester and rot for all eternity. Do you see my name on this post? You do don’t you bunch of worthless POS.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

One of Wes Andersons best in my opinion. I have watched this 4 times and it is just as good every time.

Well if there were no idiots that can’t use their wits there would be no movies. So here we go again and I hope they all aren’t stupid.

Hell or High Water (2016)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago.

My favorite movie of the year.

Memoirs of a Geisha (2005)
McShagan 3 points 4 years ago.

This is in my top 5 all time favorite movies. The visuals in this are amazing as well as the acting. Which is in it self is amazing because some of it was done phonically. I love Ziyi Zhang in this role and think she is one of the most beautiful women put on this planet.

Hero at Large (1980)
McShagan 3 points 4 years ago.

John Ritter you left us too soon. I had the biggest crush on Anne Archer because of this movie. Yes it is loaded with the 80s cheese factor but it was still fun to watch.

Wind River (2017)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago*.

Taylor Sheridan’s follow up to Hell or High Water. Jeremy Renner Is great in this along with Elizabeth Olson’s emotional performance. I had high expectations and it didn’t disappoint. With as much as I liked this it isn’t the type of movie you watch again and again.

Watchmen (2019) S1 E1

Don’t take it too personally. I’ve seen downvotes on comments that have helped answer questions rather than express opinions and such.

At any rate, thanks for telling about this. I’m not completely familiar with all of American history.

McShagan 3 points 4 years ago.

I don’t really I just find it to be a tool for lazy trolls. I also just took my adderall and that shit makes you mean. ; )

Shadow (2018)
McShagan 3 points 4 years ago*.

Loved this movie. It was so beautifully shot that I wish I had seen it on the big screen. Mostly shown in black and white except for the flesh and blood and there was blood. It is hard to explain how much I enjoyed this story, and there is a great great story to go along with the beauty.
I will watch this again.

Snatch (2001)

I still cannot pull out a favorite between Snatch and Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels. That being said Rocknrolla is not far behind. All great movies.

Black Summer (2019) S1 E2

First episode was not bad let’s hope the writing is just as good as we develop the characters.

This episode was sorely lacking a few choice reactions to the news that Arya had killed The Night King. Everyone already knew.

Ford v Ferrari (2019)
Sullyf 5 points 4 years ago*.

Saw this today at the cineplex. Great watch- a little long but necessary in order to tell the story. True stories are always more interesing. Luke Wilson is now my favorite asshole actor. Oh, what a mistake- I meant Josh Lucas, not Luke Wilson- sorry.

McShagan 2 points 4 years ago*.

Agreed I needed a intermission to watch this and it was well worth it. I have had to work with a few guys like his character and am amazed at how often they get their way because the upper management can’t see thru their bullshit or just don’t care.I think you meant Josh Lucas.

Annihilation (2018)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

Point taken, McShagan. That was just MY opinion. And I respect your opinion. Good day.

Anytime Bella and just to let you know I up voted your comment. I feel any attempt to discuss a movie is a good thing no matter how it made you feel.

Shazam! (2019)

It is worth a watch as everyone has stated the quality is very good. It is fun but this is not a movie for the very young, there are some scenes that are very scary and may be too much for the young watchers out there.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)

Another Wes Anderson classic. The extremely subtle humor of this movie sucked me in and made me a fan for life.

Deadwood (2004)

I began rewatching this from the beginning yesterday in preparation for the movie. I actually stopped watching Deadwood with about four episodes to go in season 3 when I discovered it had been cancelled without tying things up, so even before the film there will be fresh stuff for me!

McShagan 2 points 5 years ago.

I can’t wait until they finish this show up. I was heart broken when it was canceled.

The Black Donnellys (2007)
McShagan 2 points 5 years ago*.

Agreed Odie and Gin I haven’t seen a show that was this good canceled so quickly since Firefly. Then some brilliant exec decided that Terriers was not going to work either and dropped it. Was so happy to see Jonathan Tucker in the first episode of American Gods.

This for me is animation and comedy at it’s best.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
McShagan 2 points 5 years ago.

My personal favorite of the series. With names like Andy Serkis and Gary Oldman I was surprised that Toby Kebble stole the show with his role as Koba. It doesn’t take long before the fact that these are not apes is not a thought that occurs to you during the movie. This is movie magic at it’s best.
