This show just kills it. Renner is great. It has a lot of layers to it & a lot of unspoken stuff if you are a real movie / tv buff you pick up on. Also enjoying the scenery of Kingston, Ontario! A fairly gritty place all on it’s own. Anybody who isn’t familiar, look up the Kingston Penitentiary opened in 1835, closed in 2013.

Yep that’s how it works when you’re watching new shows lol.
It’s humorous to me so many peoople watching stuff today have never experienced the “oh sh*t! what was that? I gotta wait a week!” feeling. Some of the best memories I have are of that type of format & some are recent! Dexter put people on the edge of their seat quite often from 2006-2013.
All that ol’ Eli needed was a knife to fall out his jacket in the precinct & we’d have a “the night of” sequel. It’s also kind of funny how they treat him like his 12 years old.
That whole hockey thing made me laugh because it totally goes down like that no matter if you play the lowest level or at the highest. Parents, coaches, players & just random “rink rats” brawling over nothing.
Time away has made the man sloppy, you can see it in each episode. It’s actually something you see in serial killers in real life it’s how they get caught. Thankfully for us.
You hear the song during the credits? That’s Michael C singing with his band Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum.
Thanks! I actually thought it sounded just like him when I heard that.
How funny is it that the little crazy kid who never smiles or laughs had a shirt that says “positive vibes”.
I watch this episode every December, and it never gets old. But it’s amazing to see how far the characters have come since. These early episodes were so rough.
I agree with you, but, keep in mind it was 1989 & they probably had a lot less to work with.
The timing of this episode and what happened in Michigan, is eerie, great epi nonetheless.
You can take this comment & replay everytime similiar events take place.
You can watch & see what’s coming around the next corner every episode but it’s very entertaining none the less. That’s pretty brilliant in a simple way.
“The enemy of my enemy isn’t my friend it’s just another fu**er I gotta worry about” lol
The show is well written, they could easily have dumbed it way down & made it one dimensional. A lot of “fish out of water” scenarios.
And…..Redman! (meth & red)
Crazy, Starz put this out a week early & blamed it on a “glitch” we weren’t supposed to see this until next week.
Seeing them sitting on the couch, smoking, laughing TV going music on.. it makes me nostalgic for the 90’s! If it was today they’d both have their heads down at a screen. That’s where music loses it’s shine with the vibe with in person studio sessions imagine if Wu-Tang was emailing verses? It wouldn’t sound the same.
I used to watch this on Showcase in Canada in the 90’s it was always entertaining. It almost reminds me of Discovery ID re-enactments but from the 80’s. It definitely was not something you were used to seeing on cable at the time.
I admit I wasn’t well-informed and that there were surely other things going on. But this is an American 90s show. Not a lot of dark things happened in America in the 90s, or at least not as you say to my knowledge. I stand by my people’s rose coloured glasses being broken after 9/11. There was a lot that happened then but the internet wasn’t big enough and the news media wasn’t as big as they are so you just didn’t know about it like you can now. Also, this series doesn’t hold back. It’s Vice and their wrestling ones are pretty real, so if there were bigger, juicier issues, I’m sure they’d have done those instead.
A person could be easily fooled by the titles of these episodes who hasn’t watched full thru & think it’s solely about that, but they do a good job of weaving in the more darker things into the show.
First WTC & OKC bombings,Columbine. First Iraq conflict, Rodney King + LA riots just to name a few of the f’d up things that went on. I mean you wanna throw in finding out that the CIA put cocaine / crack into the streets as well it was the 80’s but the 90’s it came out I believe.
Enjoy the remaining episodes!
I’ve never heard anyone say the 90s were bad to live in. You must haven not lived in them. One of the reasons 9/11 shook so hard is because it represented the end of the utopia days.
Every decade has had it’s bad / good. But I can no say at no time has it been a utopia. It’s just unless you sought out to be more informed you wouldn’t neccessarily hear what was going on. I recall listening to the BBC world service on CBC radio Canada to hear about conflicts in the world.
When I saw the title I had to roll my eyes a bit & say not again… they’ve already done the story more than once plus I had read Jon Robert’s book American Desperado. But, this is a unique story all to itself. Greed, ego & pride can be dangerous & it’s why our jails are full. The subject matter sort of speaks for itself!
Glad I gave this a try, now I’m going to binge on the other ones I never knew about. I’m guessing I should start with the first 6 seasons of Power, then Power book 2 to get a better understanding?
I tried months back to watch book 2 without seeing the first series & was completely lost. You may be able to watch this one without going back but I suggest to anyone go back & watch from the first. To understand the 2nd part you have to & it’s just a great show.
its not that. its just icarly suppose to be clean. its for the kids. but now its not for the kids. people get confuse what to show the kids then.
It’s 2021 & kids can go on youtube / Netflix etc & find any type of content they want…. so I don’t think old rules apply.
I could do without the Smurf backstory. We all know she’s a POS.
The flashbacks can take away from what’s going on but I think they are trying to tell us something & it will connect better as time goes on. We’ve already learned a few things from them in other episodes.
Without revealing anything from this one , you can see the split / control even when they were young.
I hope I wasn’t the only one who was confused this aired twice! First last week after an NBA playoff game & then on Sunday night.
I’m glad one of my favorite shows is back on & I appreciate it being unlike some or most who start a new storyline & take time to introduce the characters & the problems etc it’s more of a continuation & they get right into it.
Enjoy!
To whomever posted the links to this episode so quickly after requesting, thank you.
Nice build up for the next season that shouldn’t need many episodes to get dramatic.
Why would someone waste their time downvoting episodes before the show is even posted? Did Wentworth hurt you?
I’ve been watching since near day 1. This show has fallen way off from what it was. Low on suspense.
“I watched 20 minutes and here is my judgment.” How moronic can you get? I like this movie; it’s silly, stupid and heartwarming.
If I gave up after 20 minutes I might have the opinion that it wasn’t a very good movie. It’s different, different is good & pretty funny.
you got will power i wish i waited
It’s still good for a binge watch seeing that episode one was Feb 9 & it’s now April 26.
Anyone who watched & said hey! they sure over did that! Not so, that crap will truly take you over. Especially when less was known about the effects. Another good episode.
Easy to say after the fact!
They need to stop making shows about this.. the podcast was enough.
Kids loved it, I had a few laughs though I’d be lying if I said I watched the whole thing.
One of my favorite shows. Coming back 5/28. Their was also an Aussie movie that the show was based on here on P
rime Wire
Hasn’t the show outshined the movie by now? 4 Seasons in! And season 5 was recently announced.
I love this show I have been tuning in since the beginning, some things to ponder.. you’d think they would ban hoodies eventually! LOL!
is this a movie site or not
I often ask myself the same thing. People argue about politics all over twitter & facebook. Maybe we should try & be more civil…
And there happens to be a forum with a section called “off topic” which most of this would fall under!
Agreed. However every time I say something like this certain people just call me a whiny liberal and start quoting breibart
I think some people might glance at this & think it’s a movie about Hip Hop, it’s more about the LAPD & the cover ups & corruption around them. Drug dealing, murders etc.. It was good watch from first to end whether you like hip hop or not.
If you have an interest in the story, please check out the Central Park Five documentary. https://www.primewire.li/movie/604000-watch-the-central-park-five
It’s just a movie…. relax….. Guess you never saw Lakeview Terrace.
Gotta always love the things arent how they used to be in the 90’s crowd. Amazing work that can’t be really fully appreciated on a cam version.
Your question is irrelevant…..
Exactly, zero…. oh no, don’t downvote my comment! Anything but that! Maybe you should go seek some links out, be helpful instead of standing around whining about it.
FYI:
No Links for E 1-3 & E4 link is “Hell in the Heartland: What Happened to Ashley and Lauria (Audio Only) but the video is actually “My Classic Car”
great episode. Wouldn’t most rape victims want a Mike in there lives?
Maybe to look at it deeper, you would hope someone would never have to be on THAT path she was on to be in that position. Not her fault of course but it shows how our choices put us in some bad spots.
