I reeeeeally like this one! Extremely poignant subject matter! And definitely one of my favorite categories of consideration. Especially the way that the ending is up to the viewer. I like that there is some hope in it. Let’s be honest. We, AS A SPECIES, have a very misguided, and deluded understanding of ourselves. We are an, essentially, instinctually… and subconsciously driven species (aside from the more complicated, and arguable aspects of our natures). But… most of us spend our lives, denying those very drives. And replacing them with a fantasy awareness of self, tempered by emotional states, which are basically “illogical (as Spock once elegantly put it. Lol). Some, more than others… and some, wayyyy more than others. So, our evolution, and our survival, are fundamentally driven, by the whims of these processes. Processes, which we invest most of our precious energy and time, ignoring. So, maybe a little logic, is just what we need. What KIND of logic? Well, that’s the real stumper. It’s only natural, that we be somewhat fearful… of the myriad ways, in which this change, may occur. But, I promise you this. If we don’t wake up soon, there will be nothing left to salvage. And… we’ll likely never even learn the answers to these many questions. Until we can face the more abstract, and self-destructive aspects of ourselves… We might as well be playing “Russian Roulette.” Except, we don’t even know where the trigger is, or even which part is a bullet. And I… firmly believe that isn’t a single human ON THIS EARTH, who COMPLETELY understand the Human state of existence. Or, whether that is actually as tangible a thing, as some may want us to believe. But… I know that if we allow cold, manipulative… and greedy Autolaters (C.E.O. types, or their bosses), to determine the futures (if time even, actually, does exist) of our descendants, we don’t stand a chance. Because people like that, don’t even have the ability to care for their OWN best interests. Much less, the entire species. The majority of them, anyway. And… let’s face it. THAT is who now controls OUR destiny, or fate, or future… or whatever you’d like to call it. Because, as a species, we’ve been taught to escape our emotions. And to belie… our instincts, as intellect. Or, as some abstract sixth sense (which I, personally, believe is real. But not “traditionally” tangible to most) So, you… tell me.
Where ARE we headed???

SnakePliscan 2 points yesterday.

We are headed to annihilation, there is no god and this is the outcome for each individual, so why not the entire human race as well ?
Accept that life is pointless and you won’t have to worry about any a the stuff u mentioned….

Loving machinery is a kink …. Mechanophilia (or mechaphilia) is a paraphilia involving a sexual attraction to machines such as bicycles, cars, helicopters, and airplanes.

As Good as It Gets (1997)
yellow_rose1 3 points 2 months ago*.

I can’t believe I forgot about this movie. I used to watch it over and over when I had it on VHS. What a treat. It is one of the best Brooks movies ever, while nothing compares to Terms of Endearment but it’s close. What an amazing cast too. Just what I needed for a rainy day with not much to do. TGIF

SnakePliscan 1 points 2 months ago.

The part where someone asks him how he is so good at writing the women’s roles , his answer , i thought what now did he just say !?!? had ta rewind it and yup thats what he just said ! characters who talk without a filter can be quite amusing.

Redo of Healer (2021)

This is actually a tale of revenge … well to be more precise “sweet revenge” and its kind of amusing too how events re-unfold

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions the Movie: Rikka Takanashi Revision (2013)
SnakePliscan 2 points 7 months ago.

This was pretty funny, there may have been some love but pretty much zero romance so dont fire this up expecting that.
I would say its safe to say Chunibyo isnt just a highskool thing , Lol !

As far as Chunibyo amies go i think “Rascal dreams of bunny girl sempi” was a better story.

The Irrational (2023)
SnakePliscan 3 points 7 months ago.

His unique skillset—understanding things like predictable irrationality, paradoxical persuasion, retrospective framing, and attentional blindness—lets him see what others can’t.
That stuff alone intrigues me , def gonna put on my to watch list , due out sometime after sept 25th

Pride and Prejudice (1995) S1 E3

Literally the worst confession ever and the best rejection ever all wrapped up in the same scene , epic !

Pride and Prejudice (1995) S1 E2

This is the cringe part of the series where the Bennets and Mr Collins make the other characters aghast with their behavior , its quite the spectacle !

I Origins (2014)
SnakePliscan 3 points 9 months ago.

Behind the complexities of scientific adventure resides this simple story , a spiritual person plants a seed in the mind of a scientist and we sit back and watch what happens next , i like how the film unfolded in a way that i never thought it was far fetched.

The Ritual Killer (2023)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

Kinda boring but keep a close eye on that professor , googed Muti afterward and that took me to the national library of medicine and THEN i went down a rabbit hole on females homicides and forms of killing and it got real groosome … never know where ya endup with P.W. !

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
MonkyNutz 1 points 3 years ago.

This is one of those films… its in my top 10 movies of all time, but this requires a follow up response, ART is in the eye of the beholder!

SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

Yeah so just what is the ART aspect of this for you ?

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
kintaru 5 points 2 years ago.

I starred in Darren Aronofsky’s 1st directoral project, back in 1980.It was a reenactment of Empire Strikes back while we were at P.S. 195 in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn. Me being only Black kid made me a gret Lando. Allan Lipp, now a helluva gastroenterologist, was appropriatelty Yoda. Ariel Zebloski was Chewy, who choked da shyt out of Lando. Darren Aronofsky was Luke and Eric Schneider played Han. so at age 10, Darren was already pretty much sure of what he was going to do in life. He still lives in Sheepshead last i heard. Ms Meiselman would be proud.

SnakePliscan 0 points 1 year ago.

You need to finish your statement by saying how that all relates back to this movie, right ?

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago*.

As a recovering addict this was a lot of things, not the least of which, being cringe! How does someone act the role of drug addict without ever having been one, takes a special kinda talent ? As for relating to this movie while watching it, depends on whatever your drug of choice was or is , that, i def found intriguing about the film !

The Whale (2022)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

So this isn’t about a heavy weight stock market investor moving the market , darn it !

Strange Circus (2005)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

The first part of the movie has captions but the translation to english is so bad they discontinue it for the remainder.
The story is basically a psychological analysis by the daughter of her transference issues between her and her mother regarding her father …. and this is where the mind becomes a circus in recollecting and dealing with events. Then the mother is left to sort the mess out and in the final scene you are left with the ridiculous solution.

HENNEKO: The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat (2013)

Through watching this i learned that there is an affliction called Pervatitis . lol

The Automatic Hate (2015)
SnakePliscan 3 points 1 year ago.

This (IMO) is a really good movie , the story line questions who, why and how we love one another human being and while some will find some aspects repulsive others will find it to be completely normal. The question is, where is the line drawn with respect to enforcing social conditioning ?

Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
SnakePliscan 3 points 1 year ago.

I think this is what they call a character driven piece and we follow the main character around (in a wonderful performance)and we get to know her, but can anybody really know anyone and this is where the second act checks in to see how fully you bought into the first part and are you bias or not, there’s a little bit genius in this flick so watch out for that!

Persuasion (2007)
SnakePliscan 2 points 1 year ago.

If you want to see a quivering lips kiss this is the movie for you.

Persuasion (2022)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

Compared to the original Persuasion this version has a real mixed bag of actors playing the parts and the suspension of historical knowledge about the era is handy too.The portrayal of wentworth was kinda meh and Anna Elliot was a flipped script version of earlier films, weird.

Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022)
SnakePliscan 2 points 1 year ago.

So what would happen if an intellectual who from all appearances wants for nothing, is given three wishes ? The Djinn honestly and anecdotally answers all her questions and then …… ?
There is a distinct gear change between the first and second half of the film so be ready to do a genre swap , Tilda Swinton does a good job of carrying the film and her character portrayal is very cool and practical. good watch.

The Edge of Seventeen (2016)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

Prepare for a fair bit a cringe , but when followed up by humor , heck its not so bad. The MC knocks it out of the park so yeah well worth a watch !

Kiseijuu (2014)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

Who would want a Parasite taking over their hand but surprisingly our MC works with the situation and the events that follow are at times quite amusing, def worth a watch.

The Accountant (2016)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

Intriguing plot premise to start with but then cracks start to develop and the premises starts to fall apart and the final chapter migrates into a coyote / roadrunner cartoon.

Modern Love (2019) S1 E6
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

Well worth a watch, W cubed if you will, the girl in this is really good and the last line of the movie (which is spoken by her) is priceless…

Yosuga no Sora (2010)
SnakePliscan 0 points 1 year ago.

This was kinda neat the way what could of happened played out before what really happened and the viewer is constantly assessing which relationship has the most feasibility, definitely adds some complexity to the overall experience.

Otona Joshi no Anime Time (2011)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

E2 Ah nothing like a going against tradition to find true love story … and then metaphorically taking out the trash part of your past self afterward.
You have to admit she made a case for herself as well as any skilled lawyer. lol.

Otona Joshi no Anime Time (2011)
SnakePliscan 1 points 1 year ago.

E1 was pretty good , the art style is simple yet realistic. Some love stories are all about timing, or lack thereof, the viewers imagination becomes part of the story, it can be satisfying or heart wrenching.

Bosch (2015) S1 E1
SnakePliscan 2 points 1 year ago.

Suspension of disbelief and the description of trauma on a kid combined with the viewers imagination can conjure up some pretty disturbing emotions but then that’s what a show like this is supposed to do, personally i couldn’t take it and moved on…..

Ukraine on Fire (2016)
SnakePliscan 0 points 2 years ago.

This of course isn’t the whole story of the Ukraine but it gives one good perspective, what definitely comes across is people who live in countries that have long and rich history think differently about their blood and the land.

Shimoseka (2015)
SnakePliscan 2 points 2 years ago.

One of those deals where the characters are better than the story, Anna is a beast !

Tsugumomo (2017)
SnakePliscan 2 points 2 years ago.

This is good , it illustrates a type of japanese spirit folklore and its kind of fun trying figure out what is behind each amsmoji, kind of episodul mysteries for the viewer to solve.
