Farmer Charlie Corey and his son Ralph struggle once again to start their broken-down old tractor so they can finish plowing. While Ralph drives into town to buy a new part, Charlie takes a nap under a nearby tree. In a dream, Charlie is visited by Bill Stevens, the local McCormick-Deering implement dealer. Using “practical magic” Bill demonstrates the entire line of new McCormick-Deering agricultural tractors. Each tractor magically appears in Bill’s truck, drives itself down the ramp to Bill and Charlie, waits while Bill describes its desirable features, then drives away to line up with the other tractors. The models seen: W-12; O-12; Farmall 12, 20, and 30; 10-20; W-30; W-40; WD-40, the first diesel-powered wheeled tractor made in America; and finally the crawler-tread T-20, T-35, TD-35, T-40, and TD-40. Charlie wakes up when Ralph returns, then insists on driving immediately to Bill’s dealership—to buy a new tractor! |
