The film follows the efforts of Ximena, a sighted person, in her attempt to understand and experience her blind friend David’s concept of ‘acoustic shadows’, a sonic phenomenon that enables him to relate to objects that he cannot see but that he can ‘feel’. Along the way she encounters some amusing youths who also try to understand. The film contrasts nicely the ambiance of a city centre at night with that of a lush, green park the next day, while the spritely music of composer Ron Herrema helps move the film along. In the end, the character who perhaps steals the show is David’s seeing-eye dog, Lucy! |
