After the tragic events at Virginia Tech on April 16th, 2007, the school received over 90,000 gifts of goodwill from all over the world. The items were put on display in Virginia Tech’s Squires Student Center by a temporary employee and volunteers from the community, a controversial decision to this day. The exhibit and subsequent reaction led to this portrait of the blessing (and burden) of such a huge volume of gifts, the effort put into their display and the uncertainty of their future and ultimate value. |
