Having set out to return a neighbor’s tractor, a father and his sons stall out in a pasture clearing. The youngest, Cole, failed to fill the tank, and now it’s on him to return with the fuel can before the gathering darkness of a winter storm. One chore begets another. But when Cole appears without the can the group is left to reckon with news that fuels something much deeper. The duty of their errand obliges them to their neighbor in an unforeseen, but altogether more intrinsic way. |
