A disappointment in love drives Pete into a chronic melancholia which finally leads him to decide upon suicide as the only practical end to his gloomy existence. Our story concerns itself chiefly with his numerous unsuccessful attempts to shuffle off this mortal coil. Many presumable “sure-fire” methods of “leaping into the beyond” fail entirely in his case and leave him only funny woes for promised joy in death. |
