The film ‘Selkie’ follows a couple having to make a tough decision when it comes to life, health and mortality. Adrian’s wife, Cate, is dying, and as her behavior becomes erratic, he fears that she is slipping away mentally as well as physically. Cate meanwhile feels confined in their home. Having once had an active life working with Adrian as a Marine Biologist, she now fears losing her connection with the ocean, and the freedom and independence it once brought her. Selkie was the final film made by students at a 16 week NZ Film Academy course, with the help of professional tutors.
