Details:

Sicixia is a fiction feature-length film shot in Costa da Morte (Galicia, Spain). Sicixia is an intended peripheral film. Periphery is where the world gets different, not where it ends. For Romans, Finisterrae was the end of the world. Sicixia wants it to start from here. Sicixia portrays Costa da Morte’s unique heritage by intertwining fiction and reality, powerful images with subtle and rich sounds and stories. Every frame dives into Costa da Morte’s spirit, its very special people and singularity in a catchy kaleidoscopic way. Sicixia, which means eclipse, implies to rise, leaving behind the scarce heavenly mechanics of current cinema. It implies to go from black to a new way to produce fiction, which does not necessarily mean poverello but that is certainly rooted in franciscano spirit, just the opposite to mainstream productions. Alternative production, an open script permanently under construction and naturalist and risky performances are just a few examples of this new way to produce. And last but not least, Sicixia was shot in a peripheral language, Galician, spoken in fishermen’s villages. Sound definitely plays a major role in this film, underpinning Sicixia’s newness. This leitmotif mirrors Costa da Morte’s rich diversity. Sicixia is therefore a film to listen to life in Costa da Morte. This focus has deliberately been chosen to counterbalance images’ captivating influence in the digital world we live in. Sicixia is a walk with Love and Coast of Death.
