Details:

Channel 4’s intimate documentary about the life and career of Lynne Perrie, the actress who became a household name as Ivy Tilsley in the British soap opera “Coronation Street”. The film was made two years after Perrie had left the show, and she was now packing up mementos of her career and leaving her Mock tutor house to return to Yorkshire and be reconciled with her husband Derrick Barksby. Looking through newspaper clippings and video tapes, Perrie recalls her singing career in nightclubs all over the world in the 1960s, and talks about her roles in the films “Kes” and “Yanks”. Back on the cabaret circuit, and making guest spots as a bingo caller, Perrie talks about the many regrets she now has. She speaks about her neglectful behavior towards her son, who now suffers from HIV, the affairs that she had whilst married, the lurid headlines she made, and her drinking habits. She reveals how, over the years, she had lost her sense of character during her search for fame, but now finally realizes that being famous is not important. She concludes by saying that she now wishes to close the door on both Ivy Tilsley and Lynne Perrie, and to start a new life as Mrs. Barksby, wife and mother.
