Adolescent Carey comes home one day to find some packed suitcases sitting by the main entrance. He expects that his family has some people visiting with them, but in reality his father is heading off to fight in WWI. His parents were not going to tell him of his father’s departure, not wanting a tearful goodbye, but Carey, finding out what’s going at the last minute, is able to catch up to his father who promises one day to come home. As Carey and his mother go about their daily routine, his father is off fighting in the trenches. Will he be able to fulfill his promise to his family and come home? |
