A woman crosses his path. Those moments when they meet are as passing clouds… Their ephemeral love is their spiritual initiation. He believes that part of him has already died, yet a hope for love is deep down in his ice like essence. She believes in a love that has yet to be reinvented, but death is in the essence of her fire. DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT DUAL INSIGHT is a story of neo-courtly love. I say neo-courtly, for here the tradition of medieval troubadours and minstrels follows a woman! She does not believe that love has to be unfulfilled in order to be ideal, nor does she believe that there is such a thing as unfulfilled love, for that emotion by itself is a gift. Ecstasy, love, light, a twin play of martyrdom, pain and darkness. Devotion. Under this one level of the story there are other symbols, initiations into certain spiritual understandings and longings, which gently expose the fear of intensity and depth so common these days. The film is also a study of one illusionary destructive belief of being damaged and an invocation of love in the modern world.
