In Paris, in a back alley near Boulevard Saint-Martin, a dead man was found - Louis Tours. Inspector Maigret undertakes the investigation. Immediately it turns out strange circumstances - the killed red tie and yellow shoes, which, according to his wife, he never wore. In the wallet - no one knows where a decent amount of money came from and a very old photograph of a little girl.
