In the 1950s Antoinette Giguère wrote 120 letters, documenting every aspect of family life like a continuous film, seen through her eyes. Using her letters, Antoinette’s fifteenth child, director Serge Giguère, explores the joy and heartbreak of rural, Quebecois working life. My Mother’s Letters is the story of a simpler time, but one whose values and struggles still resonate today. It’s also the story of the relationship we all hold dear in our hearts - that which we have with our mothers. My Mother’s Letters examines the universal theme of the family and the joy, pain and complexities of maternal love. |
