OPHELIA GOES FLOATING is a bonkers Canadian surrealist short film inspired by Millais’ famous painting of Shakespeare’s tragic heroine. Only as our Ophelia floats to her destiny, on the riverbank we encounter a spoiled heiress playing croquet with her lover’s head, a doctor with a shoe fetish, even a beaver headed flute player. A community project photographed on wild Indian River locations in beautiful Peterborough county and in Toronto harbor, the film experiments with ‘emotional colors’. Tears of joy, tears of sadness, it all ends up in the same puddle! |
