Two poor men are walking down a path in the woods during the late afternoon. One of them, the disorganized Scuffy, grows tired and hot and doesn’t want to go on. Charlie, his companion urges him to continue searching for food that they desperately need. Scuffy continues but trips. He discovers he tripped on an ear of corn. Excited, the two men assume there is a corn field nearby. They race to find it, but a fence of barbed wire gets in their way. Trudging through the obstacle, the two continue to run across a vast field, where they eventually come to the corn field. The pair are devastated when they discover that the corn is out of season and there is no more corn left. Upset and dismayed, the two decide to go see a movie. They go to an old movie theater and sit through a delightful film of two men gaily singing an old rendition of “Singin’ in the Rain.” After the movie, the two men, their spirits raised, depart from each other for the day.
