It’s passive resistance with a Texas attitude. While spending the summer of 1955 with his highly independent and slightly profane Uncle Sidney, Hack inflames members of their small, all white community by falling in love with Juanita, a beautiful Mexican American girl from across the tracks. When, in the middle of the night, a flaming cross-of warning illuminates Uncle Sidney’s front lawn, he decides to issue a highly entertaining warning of his own. |
