A dry, humorous look at Emmy winning writer Rick Cleveland’s trials and tribulations suffered while writing and performing a one-man monologue play about his friendship with for president Bill Clinton. My Buddy Rick: the making of a one-man show tracks Emmy Award winning writer (‘’The West Wing’ and ‘Six Feet Under’,) Rick Cleveland rehearsing, performing and living through the hilarious and sometimes harrowing journey in the creation of his one man show ‘My Buddy Bill’. ‘My Buddy Rick’ documents behind the scenes drama from original readings of ‘My Buddy Bill’ in Chicago, 2003, workshop productions at the Berkshire Theatre Festival 2004, the debut of the solo show at the Geffen Playhouse in 2005 and the main stage performance at HBO’s 12th annual U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, 2006. During the years ‘My Buddy Bill’ rose to national attention, Cleveland while suffering a mid-life crisis, went on with the show, perhaps bringing everyone down with him
