A narrator takes us thorough the process of a man choosing a dog, introducing the dog to its new home, beginning its training, feeding it, and dealing with misbehavior. The dog owner is himself a hapless everyman, picking out too many dogs at the pet store on an emotional whim, having no idea how to communicate with his new best friends, and needing a deep reserve of patience. By the end, he’s learned the ultimate lesson in training a dog: let the dog show the way. |
