With Delete, I wanted to twist the convention of the cell phone as a means of connection with family and friends to something dark. Modern horror films have been using the trope of killing off the main characters’ cell phones. So, I figured why not make the cell phone the reason why the characters are killed off. My aim was to make the cell phone a character in the film. People are never far removed from their cellphones. It has become an extension of them. Cellphones provide a daily flow of online life and primary form of contact with the outside world. So, what if the phone is possessed by an evil entity, turning this instrument of connection into an evil and dark thing that wants to severe us from life. |
