In the future, computers are an extension of the human psyche. Dr. Emily Rho is an emotionally guarded psychologist, treating the damaged minds of drone operating soldiers. She misses the thrill of discovery, until she is invited to work with the illustrious neuroscientist Dr. Jason Allebach. They embark on a bold experiment: to connect the minds of two volunteers, intermingling their thoughts, senses, emotions, and memories. Rho has concerns, but the research team and test subjects stand behind Allebach’s vision. As the subjects explore each other’s minds, they become less like individuals, and more like something completely new. Their transformation is profound and beautiful, but comes at a cost.
