At Osvaldo’s barber shop, customers and hair cutters tell stories about their mothers. Jerry, the teen son of the shop owner, is excited - he and his younger sister Glenda and their dad have a guest coming for dinner, a young woman who works at the shop. Jerry’s doing the cooking. He and Glenda do the shopping: she’s the custodian of her mother’s habits, the brands mom bought, where she sat at the table. Glenda’s thrown for a loop when she figures out who the dinner guest is and why. Ana, dad’s date, tries her best with Glenda, Jerry does, too, but the going is rough. Dad is simply embarrassed and upset. How do families heal?
